i like how rick still has the willpower to make fun of jerry even though hes depressed, its like it's hardwired into his brain by this point
Notice, how he made fun of them, everyone laughed, but not Rick.
I think he did it as a way of directing attention off of himself so everyone now focuses on insulting Jerry
One of the downsides of revenge, spending your entire life looking for the person who brought you so much pain. After killing them, you accomplished your goal, you did it, now you have no purpose. The only thing that gave you a purpose was tracking down the person who hurt you. Now that there dead, you have no reason to keep going. Unless you have people that are still close to you.

I love the detail of pan-out to the now lifeless lair at 1:11. I think there's a reason why most stories have the evil lairs collapse and explode after the villain is defeated. Really gives Rick's 'victory' an extra depressing anti climatic feel.

Yeah, they even used a quiet, echo-ey sound effect to emphasise how empty the place is now. Must be weird to just walk out of the place after ending a decades-long pursuit of revenge. Good point about lairs being destroyed in the climax of films! I never really thought about it before now but you’re totally right.
I actually like the liminality of a lair that doesn't collapse after a villain is defeated, the calm and quiet after the storm.
A hollow victory, if you will.
Gotta give it to Evil Morty. He fought for his freedom and got it.
This song first plays when Morty first learns about alternate Ricks and Morty’s, as well as their disposability and how much less important their own universe suddenly is.
Now it’s playing a second time when Rick finally disposes an alternate version of himself in pursuit of life-long revenge that has now come to fruition.
Both are the realisation of a sudden, new endless empty incomprehensible void, which is why they both occur halfway into their respective seasons and not as the finale.
The architect of his suffering is gone, but yet he feels no victory.
That is what happens when you get revenge.
While no one likes hearing it because it's not satisfaction to our desire for causing suffering as recompense, the best revenge really is just living well. If you go down the path of hatred, you end up giving the other person free real estate in your mind for as long as you're going after them...and if you do manage to get them suddenly all that space that should've been filled with love, family, friends, hobbies, fun....is just empty space.
It can be tough to bounce back from that...but he'll manage. We all do.

Love the taunting smile Evil Morty gives Rick when he's finally finished off Rick Prime, probably one of the few times he's ever felt amusement towards him, like this was the one thing he had set up the moment he got here
Give him Rick Prime, without any way to escape

And then how he somewhat sympathizes with him, i like to think when he says, "exactly the same, yeah it always does'', must have been how he felt dealing with evil rick, although he got back at him for taking him on too many dangerous adventures, he got no satisfaction he was just numb
I imagine his "I just want to be left alone" probably wasn't how he started, he probably wanted to kill Ricks, but as he did so he noticed that it never seemed to make him feel better, so after a certain point he just decided that killing them wouldn't change anything, so he just wanted to live a life without them in it.

I would think that Evil Morty does have inherent respect for this Rick. Cause his own Rick was no different than most other Ricks, and he was the product of his own Rick's narcissism. But this Rick is the one who cared about his family. The one who traded infinity for his wife and daughter, and one who will destroy the universe just to find the version of himself who killed his family. This Rick is the Rick that Morty would've wanted. And this Rick's desire for a family is so strong that he would even become part of his enemy's family and come to be the Rick who raises his enemy's Morty.
It kind of makes sense for EM to actually help Rick in this instance; the shockwaves from Rick bruteforcing the CFC were interfering with his own paradise. One that he schemed, killed and fought for. It was his reward, his one true place where he knows everything he built is with his own two hands.
Had he not, he'd still have to eventually deal with it. Even he says he doesn't want the infinite number of 'Vengeful Summers' that would inevitably come after him. Even if he could in theory handle them with relative ease, it would still be an annoyance. One he'd have to put up with for all time.
This was the far lesser of two evils: Help Rick C-137 kill Rick Prime, or kill all Ricks.
Just a thought: I appreciate that this wasn’t a finale, but still somewhat in the middle of the season. It hones in on the fact that Rick has to move forward, making it more relatable to the audience. Relatable in the sense that there’s always “the day after.” It reminds of a principle called regression to the mean: no matter how good things get, or how bad, they always seem to come right back to the middle

Kinda like that the family's just keeping on going with things and through their normal routine, even as Rick is mostly frozen up- they can almost certainly tell that he's messed up, but well, that's probably the HEALTHY reaction to what he just went through. Just being there and keeping him going, and there if he needs them.

Yes, this is what they mean, but this fairytale nonsense only exists in works of fiction. No grieving parent has ever felt bad when their child's killer is put to death, go watch interviews, they spend their entire lives defending that it was the right thing to do. The idea that revenge isn't the answer is spread by people too scared to take it.

I could go on for hours about how perfect season 7 was.
The re-use of "Look on down from the bridge" by Mazzy Star was perfect, that song captures that empty, dissonant feeling perfectly, and in context it's perfect as well, it first played when Morty realized how insignificant he was to Rick, and it plays because Rick realized he is NOW insignificant because his life's purpose, his whole entire drive to live is fulfilled, but he isn't.
I love the imagery of a now-empty inside Rick covered in blood, too, it's haunting.
It's interesting, like really interesting how now that Rick prime is dead, something the show has been slowly gravitating towards forever, it just feels so empty, anticlimactic, because this wasn't justice, it was vengeance, vengeance is often empty.
The interesting thing to me was the "Rick project", what the fuck is that supposed to be.
I think that the Rick project refers to the central finite curve. The walls of it broke but we saw that the structure of it still kinda exists. Evil morty sees the curve as an “infinite crib built around an infinite fucking baby.” Now that evil morty has the power to destroy every Rick across every universe, he is put into the power of controller of the curve. If it becomes dangerous to him, he can shut down the curve just as a scientist may shut down a failed experiment.

I love how for morty it bonded him to rick C137 as his true grandad as he hugs him rick prime made our rick feel hopeless and revaluate his interdimensional family.

i love the little detail of how after he said whatever he said to jerry his smile came back and then it suddenly fades again showing how empty life now feels

For a season finale idea :
Evil Morty is trying to take over all multi universes and the only obstacle for him is the Rickest Rick, so he collapses all the universes where Rick and Morty exists.
In the begining of the episode our Rick and Morty realises the universe is off and everything starts to gets distorted, cease to exist. Rick investigates these and finds out every portal he goes the diversity and quality of universes declines.Thus, Rick comes to a conclusion that someone is deleting universes.
They find out the source and goes after it. Through their journey they encounter so many anomalies because every paralel timeline is connected together, while they are getting deleted 1 by 1, this causes distortions, anomalies for the others.
In the end they finally reached to Evil Morty, they tried to fight him but he is so strong, and it was too late, while they and every universe belongs to them, every Rick and Morty are sent to their original universes to cease to exist. Morty was sent to the infested universe, his original universe and Rick was sent to his universe where his wife and daughter died.
Rick searches but he got nothing to escape here, and the scene when he lost his loved ones, standing there still the same for all those years. Rick sits desperately and waits for everything to collapse but suddenly he sees his wife Diana and runs towards him they hug and Rick says "how you are alive?". Rick tries to adjust her hair to see her face clearly but his hair goes through her head. Diana says : I am not real, I am your memories. There wasn't actually a universe where you really belong to, the real thing you belonged was your loved ones, your family. Now do the right thing, Rick. And while Diana was fading away Rick says : I know what to do.
And Rick wakes up in the Intergalactic multi universe void. Rick is amazed by the view, every multi universe is here. The universes are connected together and forming tree connections. Rick goes for the center of here and places a Universe collapser to the place where the root of universal tree connection belongs to Rick. So with collapsing all these universes, Rick alter reality and in every possible universe Diana and daughter lived and Rick died. So, everything gets collapsed, Rick never starts this mess and Evil Morty was never a thing.
Then Rick goes after Morty, Morty is scared, standing and tries to eat some infected meat he found without vomitting. Then Rick comes, Morty is happy and Rick tells him let's go and save the universe but Rick didn't tell Morty his plan, he knew otherwise Morty wont help him.
Now they reached Evil Morty again, Evil Morty is suprised, he didn't know Rick would escape. They start to fight, while fighting Ricks actually was careful for Morty and protects him. Morty realises this and know Rick is gonna do something.
After fight they couldn't accomplish anything, Rick was trying to destroy the central unit power of the machine to end this but now he knew there only 1 way was left to end this. Rick and Morty was hiding from the enemy, Rick takes his portal gun, opens a portal and tells Morty to escape but Morty says : without you, I am not coming. Rick tells Morty I will manage, just go and yells at Morty. Morty doesn't know what to say, Rick hugs Morty and says : you were always the best sidekick I've ever had. And gives him a picture. While Morty still saying emotional things and saying i wont leave you, in the middle of the talk Rick just pushes Morty to the portal.
Rick stands up, takes a deep breath and chugged his alcohol bottle he always kept in his jacket's pocket. Rick then rushes into enemy and fights for his life. But he lost, and injured. Evil Morty is slowly approaching Rick while enemies is holding him. Evil Morty comes closer to his face and says : Any last words, old man?. While blood coming out of Rick's mouth, Rick takes the controller of his bomb and says his iconic line "Wabbu labu dab dab" and presses the bottom. After this all the universes belonging to Rick starts to collapse and alter, while this happens we are seeing how the scenes changing from Rick's family dies to Rick dies in every universe and Everything we saw in this show from all previous seasons, everything just ceases to exist. And the spaceship explodes while everybody inside slowly fading away.
After this camera are going into multi universes and diving into them and we can see how each "bubble" collapses and alters. In the end, we reach to the bottom and screen goes white. Now we see Morty falling to his original universe again. Morty was in the intergalactic void while all this happened, so he still remembers everything.
Morty is shocked, everything is just the same and normal, he is just in front of his house, laying in the middle of the road. Morty goes home, sees his family eating breakfast. Morty is crying and they asked him what is wrong. And Morty says: I couldn't save him, i am sorry. Family is confused and asks who?. Morty says : Granpa Rick, who you don't know? Everybody laughs and says : Grandpa Rick died 20 years ago, he saved his daughter and wife but couldn't save himself.
Morty is shocked and confused, he goes outside and remembers Rick gave him a photo, on the photo it is a picture of Rick and Morty, a friendly selfie of them. Morty turns the picture and in it's behind it is written : See? I managed. -Rick C137. Morty is shocked and with wide open and shocked eyes, he stares at the sky and slowly whispers(says) : Rick C137...
Screen goes black and the same song played in S1E5 plays. (Or S1E10's song)
After credits we see Mr.Poopy whatching the show and talks in the same way always he did in season finales. And says : what journey it was but while everything altering and disappearing belonging to Rick I am going to where i dont even now if Rick never existed. With Mr.poopy and everything gets distorted and fades episode ends.

I love this sence. Our Rick has spent over haft his life searching for this guy just to avenge his wife and daughter only when the time comes and he beats Rick Prime to death, for him to feel nothing, not even triumph, only a small satisfaction that probably left seconds after it came. He then spends the rest of his day silent and motionless, because after spending so much time dedicated to revenge, he unknowningly gave up his life to that man and is left with only one thought, "What do I do Now?".
This is why villains like Joker don’t use logic to kill their rivals. It’s about the chase.
I love how evil Morty said he doesn't want to use that weapon because he doesn't vengeful Summers after him, if you think about it, there is a cycle of revenge that could very well exist in that family, Beth is killed, Rick looks for revenge, Rick is killed, Morty would look for revenge, Morty is killed, Summer would look for revenge, Summer is killed, Beth would look for revenge, and the cycle repeats
Rick enjoyed hunting down Rick Prime.😅 But he ruined his fun and most of his life by actually executing Rick Prime.😮

It's funny- rick never experienced the concept of inifinity as a source of nihilism. The choice of song here is great because it draws a great parallel to the moment morty experienced infinity as a thing that erased meaning or consequences. Rick actually experienced infinity as an obstacle to revenge. Once he got it, the infinity of existence, of having to live out the rest of his life without such a clear purpose (hating and killing himself), is there.
Really feel Rick’s pain. Almost 23 and still haven’t dated anyone. Don’t have any friends. People I do meet I grow attached and then they leave. I feel like I have no purpose in life

The hated father story as I heard it from the movie Conspiracy (2005). There was a man who was heavily abused by his father as a child both physically and emotionally. The man’s mother died in his 20s, a mother who loved him and was good to him. At her funeral, he was unable to bring himself to shed a single tear. The father lived to quite sometime before his death. The man, in his 60s now, is at the funeral of his father who he hated more than anything, and he was inconsolable. The object of all his hatred had finally left and it left his life empty as he had lost the reason he lived through his life. The story ends with the lesson which is, don’t let the hatred of something consume you so much, than when the target of your hatred is finally gone, your life has lost all its meaning.
I like how this implies Booger AIDS kills Rick via their Mortys, and gets rid of the Morty too.
Healing is slow but I hope his family manages to help him eventually get better

Anyone else notice how mortys new voice actor seems a little off when he does lines for evil morty specificly idk if it was that way when roiland did his lines but i think it works well that he sounds a little differnt

Honestly, he should have just kept Prime alive and slowed down his healing factor and store him in the garage just to beat him up whenever he feels like it, so he’ll never feel empty because he can just do it all over again anytime.

An interesting part of Evil Morty, that in every single episode he gets closer to his goal, or outright wins. And seeing his origin i think i know why. Each Rick is a genius with massive knowledge, but limited by their own knowledge. This Morty however can download knowledge directly to his brain, and hunted down a lot of Ricks. I think, that from each Rick he also downloaded everything, that is useful to him. Basically combining the knowledge of dozens of Ricks with their own inventions, and breakthroughs. Including the main one, and Rick prime now. Rick might have been the smartest man in the universe at birth, but i think, that this Morty managed to outclass him with self improvement over time.
Just noticed there was a rick prime clone in the vat in his lair, after killing him and shutting down the lair its gone 🤔
That because Evil Morty fried all of Rick Prime's backup clones including the one in Rick's lair.

Oh geez, Rick feels so empty and alone. The target, the purpose of his life is accomplished. But one thing is missing.
If you compare Morties experience, when he had to bury himself, he felt the same way in the beginning as Rick is feeling right now. Empty meaningless, alone....but it was also a new start for Morty in any sense. Not just a new start, a new family a new dimension a new life. And with all the depression and darkness, this can also be an opportunity for Rick to start a new life, a better one.
In the next season Morty will be the main focus. They kinda solved all the story lines from previous seasons if i am not mistaken. I found season 7 to be good overall. And the closure makes you think. Thanks for your comment. Have a wonderful day!

So...each Rick was with the other's Morty? I got hung up on "I showed you infinity, and what did you do with it? Hang out with MY grandson? Raise echoes of my daughter? You lived in my house!" Then Rick looking absolutely miserable as if he's living Rick Prime's would-be life and he'll never have a life of his own.

Ever since I succeeded all my careers and family in life
I got a degree, got a license in architecture, got a firm/company, got a beautiful wire, got children, got a family of my own, etc.
All those good things in exchange of losing all my irl gaming buddies, some of them went away on a different country after they became successful of their businesses, the others has a family of their own too just like me
Before we still game, days of not playing went by, days became weeks, weeks became months and months became years
Years of not playing/gaming with my buddies anymore felt so empty
People may think I already have everything but part lf me lost almost everything, I don't feel some passion and enjoyment in life anymore after I lost intouch with my buddies
For me I think I was born a Gamer, my parents and other relatives thinks my gaming is gonna make me addicted to it and is gonna ruin my life
They didn't know I didn't game to grind Ranks, or In-Game Achievements, I game to bond with my buddies
I felt more alive bonding and talking with my buddies in-game or even outside the game
I missed playing Video Games :(

Evil Morty just wants to be left alone, the goverment has collapsed so they and bounty hunters have no reason to chase him, the citadel of ricks is completely destroyed
