    I'm a US citizen, I go to Immigration department and pay for extended stay, I've been in this beautiful country for a little over two years, minus one exit back to the States for my mom's birthday and my nephew's wedding. I currently have a six month extended visit with a Philippine "alien" identification card. It was a lot cheaper than a plane ticket to the states and I didn't miss any rice, three times a day 😂. I love it here, food is great and the people are very nice

    I’m a Filipino by birth and now a US citizen married to a foreigner American citizen. We have lived in the Philippines for 15 years and 2 of my sons were born there. My question is are they considered “Operation of Law?” or do they still need to apply for dual citizenship? And if they fall in the “Operation of Law” category, how can they verify and acquire that document.

    You might have a valid I-card already, but if you use the Eservices on line for visa extension, they will charge you for another I-card. Its just a flaw with their website. You can also apply for a 6 month Visa extension, but if you only get approved for a two month they keep the difference in money. They tell you on website no refunds. Another screwup that nobody in immigration checks.

      There is only a 13A marriage visa or SRRV retirement visa for permanent residency. If you have ever been in the military with an honorable discharge, SRRV Expanded Courtesy has a lower deposit of $1,500. Looking at the other SRRV options, they have a significant deposit of $10,000 or more. The only other way is to become a citizen, which can take 10 years to accomplish.

      No, you don't. You can apply for the SRRV, a special resident retiree visa. It allows you to stay in the Phils. indefinitely, enter and exit anytime, multiple times. No expiration.
      However it requires you to put US$1,500 in time deposit (CD) in an accredited bank. I am a US citizen, a former Filipino and now retired in the Phils. My American husband got the same visa as my dependent.

    • @arii57
      @arii57 Před 9 měsíci

      There are a few SRRV options but many married expats have gone fir the 13a visa sponsored by the Filipina spouse. You have a probationary for the 1st year and the converted to permanent which is valid for 5 years. Then just have to renew. No deposits.. It's about $300+ to apply and takes a few months.

      Your USA GREEN CARD will be automatically revoked, green card holder allowed only to stay out of the United States for only 6 months, if you exceed beyond that ,period of time given , the green card given to you is no longer valid, if let’s say to travel back to US you will be held by the immigration.in your port of entry and facing too many problems. I’m guessing you know this but why did you stay too long in the Philippines 🇵🇭. Hindi muna mababawe Ang green card mo at dyan palang SA port of entry mo kukuhanin nila Ang green card mo . Possible deportation KA pabalik SA pinas .

My question is, I started migrating in the US on 2015 and still a greencard holder, I haven’t applied for US citizenship (not yet for now). And from the year that I started migrating up to the present, I have visited the Philippines 5 times, with 2-3 months vacation most of the time. Or do i need to be a US citizen first, and then after a couple years apply for a dual citizenship? Your helpful suggestion and good advice will be so much help and greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

    • @kitty_s23456
      @kitty_s23456 Před 10 měsíci

      Benefits: you will be a permanent resident. You don't need to have an exut/ return ticket if you re-enter PH from a trip abroad. You also won't need to pay for visa extemsion fees every 2 or 6 months (but you have to report yearly to Immigration, around January). AFAIK you can also work or own a business with the 13A visa.
      Disadvantage: you can't criticize the PH govt publicly (the BI can revoke your visa). If you (as couple) decide to live/ reside abroad, you'll have to request BI to revoke your 13A since if you're not able to renew it (due to not being in PH), the fines will add up. You still can't own land but you can own a condo unit.

      Philippines travel from the USA doesn't require a visa, just a valid passport, US to Philippines is visa free, all you need is an address of where you're staying in the Philippines and on your initial flight into the Philippines, you must have an exit ticket precooked for leaving within 29 days, buy a ticket to Singapore or Malaysia for around $50 or so, you don't have to get on that flight, but you can go to Bureau of Immigration and purchase an extended stay for one month, two months upto six months. They will issue you an Alien Identification card which is good for one year, Even though you have your Philippine ID card, you will have to go back to immigration and apply for an additional extended stay, I've been here in the Philippines for two years now and it really isn't difficult as long as you follow their simple requirements. The people are wonderful and the food is excellent.
