    My wife took 10 pounds of onions for consumption last time. They only cost a fraction here compared to the Philippines. Nobody asked about the content of her luggage or to submit this paper, which she filled in truthfully. I did the same three months later when I followed, not hiding anything. Nobody at customs asked my either. The onions were consumed within the following 4 weeks by us and some family.

    Leaving the Philippines is much worse than arriving especially if travelling back to the US. The security check right after immigration is not bad but then there is another one to enter the boarding error. There will meet some of the most ignorant and obstinate Filipinos. They say they are following TSA rules but they don't have a clue. If you have a bottle of water you just got IN the secure area of the airport, you have to dump it. They'll dig through your bag and spend minutes just looking at something as a USB charger. On last trip had 4 new sealed boxes of Polvoron which are a Philippines small sweet short bread, which they tried to tell me was a powder and not allowed (yeah it crumbles easily but is a baked good not a powder). Arguing with ignorant people who can keep you from boarding your flight which about to leave is useless so they confiscated it all.

    I understand media on USB devices are illegal, unless they are full disk copies, but entering the Philippines they don't understand or recognise that. If u have a laptop it is subject to search. We have phone media (music, movies and images) which was not searched. Cloud storage may work, or home server. Bringing pirated disks from the Philippines is illegal, but we didn't know that and it was not checked. These days 3 letter agencies already know exactly what is on your devices long before u travel, and what your interests are, but they are mostly concerned with child exploitation, drug activities and other threats, not with criminalising people in compliance to media industry demands just for taking a vacation.

      Where did you see such rules? I've never heard of anything so ridiculous, and have never had any kind of issue throughout SE Asia. Of course any gov't can and will take your gear if they suspect illegal activity. Likewise, CIA/NSA do not know what's on your systems unless they (think they) have reason to be concerned. Don't scare people needlessly; we're not living in 1984 yet -- although they are working hard on it.

    I read somewhere that you are only allowed to bring in "goods" valued @ 10k pesos or less.which is equivalent to approximately $200. First question is what are considered "goods". Second quesiton is does the value refer to all goods combined or individual items? Thanks.

      Goods stand for things which are not your personal items and which you don't want to export again when leaving, any presents for example.

    What if im bringing gold bullion or coins to philippines from USA? Is it the face value of the gold coins or the spot price that customs wants declared? There’s no clear answer on this anywhere online.

    • @dalexfilms

      Use the spot price to be safe, but you're right; it has never been properly addressed. Jewelry provides a convenient loophole in many countries, but don't push it.

    I just love jewelry so I collect the various stones in set( ring, necklace pair of earrings) but only one set of each kind. Are they considered as commercial value? Also, I have about 15 gold rings and 10 white gold and silver rings of different designs; no duplication of designs. Are the considered commercial value? I also bring all my jewelry with me when I travel. Will my jewelry put me at risk?

    • @ArmyVeteran-
      @ArmyVeteran- Před 10 měsíci

      @@labounti Are you that blind? Do you not read between the lines? the word sketchy actually doesn't have anything to do with my visit there and it's none of your business but since you want to be nosy & a peeping Paula then I will break it down just for you, on how I spend my money ok. Here it goes lalabouncy...first, who said anything about buying home(s)? I went there strictly to have a good time, visit the culture, buy from the economy & see the sites & visit a few Army & Navy buddies who decided to stay back & live there in in the Philippines.why does it sound suspicious to you because of how & why I blow that much money?
      If I have the money then it's flat out none of your business on what I do with it. I'm a retired military man who is successful & I retired financially. I invested in stocks and owned a successful property business. even the information I gave you is none of your business. Just because I spend my money the way I choose has absolutely nothing to do with someone being "sketchy". It's obvious you lack any knowledge & concept on how to build up stocks & profits and gain from your earnings. What's the matter with you bouncy? Are you that
      naive & misinformed. I just donated $10,00 to the American Red Cross Friday..is that sketchy also
      Are you going to.. scrutinize me for that too? Snap out of it pilgrim! and grow a pair.!
