That first way is how my dad check spark that way he would grab the spark plug on the car when it was running great videos

Hey T-Mike, could you do a video on testing compression. What to look for. What’s good what is bad. When to think about honing and new rings. I have been looking for some knowledge on these 2 cycle motor and it’s like it’s the best kept secret. No one wants to give it up. Lol

Hey T Mike! I've got a 1966 Johnson 6 hp. On both plugs I get spark across the inline light test like #3. I've cleaned points (1 ohm across) and have 6-8,000ohm from coil/spark plug boot wire to ground. I dribbling a little fuel in each cylinder just hoping for a pop with no luck. 80/75 psi compression. Any thoughts?

Try switching wires - might be reversed.

@@michaeljsimon Thanks for the reply! I've got the shorter one on top and longer on bottom as they were when I got the motor. I can't see a spark when I try grounding the plug(s) by hand/boot of plug wire either. I will say my tiller handle/gear seems pretty bound up. Is there a kill switch mechanism that would allow an inline tester to show spark but not actually allow spark to be made?

@@travisestes6217 I don’t trust the in-line testers - prefer the Sierra gap tester.

ok I got the 1/4" spark tester. I have awesome spark on the top, but intermittent spark on the bottom. I have checked the coil windings .9oms, and continuity to the boot, cleaned the points, checked timing, swapped out condenser, but still intermittent spark out of the bottom....am I missing anything?
