During a 2 year working stint on an island I found that after you drink the liquid from the green coconut you should fill it with rainwater and bury it in the wet sand to keep the water cool! Worked brilliantly for me.
All of the fish guts and bones can be used either for bait or chum - a small fish left in the sun for a few days is brilliant chum to lure bigger fish!
If you desalinate seawater (plastic bottles & the sun) then the leftover brine can be dried in the sun and used as salt.
Also - plastic bottles and containers can be filled with sand to be used in walls of a dwelling.

When you see how much resources it takes to support a person at this level, you can see why pre agriculture, people even within large territories, had to be on the move constantly.

Yep. Even just one person would quickly decimate the crab population on an island this size. Run out of coconuts too. Also people lived in large groups back then. The bigger your group the better your chances of survival.

You can see what we take for granted every day. Why we basically need each other, no matter how much we try to ignore that fact. We pretend to live isolated while depending on one another. It would be comical if it weren't so tragic.

@@TheRealColt I get it ,but a charcoal filter will clean that right up. Here is the thing if you're in a survival situation in a place that doesn't have natural fresh water than that rainwater Is all you have. You have one of 2 choice's at that point 1 you can suck it up or 2 die on principle. Your choice. In a true survival situation not just going to pretend to survive it would be a smart idea to take advantage of what you're given to be thankful for the rain and not let an opportunity to collect a massive amount of water pass you bye. It might not rain for a month! How long can you go without water?

Me: When I was 11 in 1983 :P My friends and I " seven of us " took a couple of blow-up rafts to an island off the coast of Florida. We Camped for a week on the island. All we brought with us was an eight-person tent, sleeping bags, fishing poles, and a small folding sterno stove with two fuel cans. Food and drink, we had two 5 gallons of water, some hot dogs and beans for the first night, eggs and grits for the first morning. We caught our food for the rest of the time, Fish and crabs were easy to catch but we did find a couple of squirrels and possums on the island. water was easy for us to get, with it raining every afternoon for 2 to 4 hours. The island was just shy over of 1/4 of a mile wide. My uncle stopped by on his fishing boat on the third day to check on us. scared the hell out of us at 6am :P

I'm into the first 10 minutes so far, and a critical question arises: I've heard no mention of possible medical emergencies, conducted on-the-fly, as needed. I'm talking, bacteria(s), blood-born Hepatitist from even the smallest open wound interacting with waters, sand, 'found' foods, building supplies, weather, animals, etc. I ask this because there was an outdoorsman I used to read about - John Huerte? - in his Chicago Tribune column recalling many of his outdoor adventures. He was highly experienced, and was able to navigate various problems encountered during his hunting/fishing expeditions. However, as he crossed a simple creek on one occasion, polluted creek water entered a small open wound on his leg. Hepatitis was contracted, and he wrote about all of this . . . he eventually died of liver failure and the poisons, therein, circulating everywhere via his blood.
I hate to sound 'collateral', but, he was fond of 'making-do' in various emergencies. He even told of actually eating crow . . . of his own making. Any comments? I think you have a responsibility to always inform your subscribers of the many unforeseen dangers - and solutions during even regional adventures relatively close to home. BUT, I tune into your channel often. Your creative ideas are damn good; as are your video shooting and editing skills. Your chefing skills are mouth-watering, as well.
Good job, well informed; except for the problem of influencing neophytes who venture into various zones without being prepared. 'Course, you'll find inexperienced people doing all kinds of crazy ****.

Amazing video! Can’t believe you took the time out of your life to make this video for, what amounts to, our pleasure. I really enjoyed it. I hope I never have to do something like this. So sad about all the garbage washed up on shore but I’m not a tree hugger so I see the value in it as a resource. This was a great video and was probably fun for you to make. Great survival ideas. I didn’t know so much about coconuts as you explained but I can guarantee you that every Friday night spent on this desert island I would be looking for the fermented coconuts to get plastered on the beach and watch the sun go down just to forget about where I was for awhile and to contemplate the decisions that I made in Life that got me to this God Forsaken Island to begin with. Hopefully I would bump into Tom Hanks and together we would live “happily ever after”🤣🤣🤣(as in getting off this Fuc*ing Island!)🤣🤣🤣🤣

See if you can find a sprouted coconut, one of the most amazingly delicious things you can eat.its solidified coconut milk.its like the one you found in tree in the previous videos that is basically a germinating coconut. A favorite dish for many folks where I retired in the Republic of the Philippine Islands is Bicol Express. Normally made with pork but Beautiful Bride uses chicken for me to keep fat at a minimum. The meat is cooked in coconut milk and a few hot peppers to add some kick. Several times, friends in the neighboring town have invited me to eat "exotic food" as they call it. One time we had a large lizard, cooked in coconut milk with hot peppers. Another time, we had a python, cooked the same way. You, sir, created a gourmet meal on the beach with what you foraged. I already know that our young troops will be enjoying your content. I'm hooked, we will whack that subscribe button next.

Love the survival videos. Very well done. Just a tip for opening coconuts: pound a sharpened post into the ground and impale the coconut onto the sharpened post or stake, then pry the husk away from the coconut. You'll need to repeat the process a few times, but it takes much less energy with this method.

I like the way you use kaiak to catching a good fish, and use it to protect agaist the rain, the idea of going with a kaiak to a island it's very interesting and usefull!! And it's great the way you surviving fishing and catch coconuts!! I just don't understand how you use the stick with meat to catch the big crab or even if you catch him, in the dark of the night, but it's a great video I will subscribe to watch more!! Thank you, hugs from Brazil and we see ya!! :))

I like when I learn something from these documentaries I've been watching them for 30 plus years. I like the way you used to stick in your knife to open the Coconuts. I've seen it only explain on a few documentaries that you can really fatally hurt yourself trying to open a coconut and lots of stories of survival have ended in tragedy because of trying to open a coconut cutting themselves the wound getting infected then them perishing😢. PS just wondering why you didn't have your waterproof bag open to catch a rain all night long. I've also seen it where they used partially sunken boats rafts or canoes to catch water during the night. That's my two cents. Thanks for the info I really enjoyed it have a great day.

When you saw rain coming, my first thought was use the boat to collect rain water! I figured I was not the only one who thought that and sure enough, many others commented basically the same thing. Why didn't you just put your shirt in your dry bag, leave the boat upright to collect rain water, and hunker down under some trees or collect a few palm fronds to keep somewhat covered?

I have done paddle / solo island camp / catch / cook. Fun times. Great Video, beautiful drone work and dialog. In addition to what you carried; I take my knife, short fins, snorkel, a spear gun handle [Mod]- (band, line/5" barb tip), several HD Trash Bags and #36 bank line (many uses) Why didn't you have room for a few rolled up Contractor bags or small 10x10ft tarp for Day 0 water collection? All good .. Stay Safe mate

32:18 I watched that, it was actually quite clever. I've seen folks use old washed up GLASS bottles to actively boil and distill, but the universality, sadly, of plastic bottles on beaches makes your application a bit more useful IMO.
