- Converting the rear brake of my 1994 Trek 930 Singletrack from rim to disc brake.
The disc brake mount converts old bike frames to accept disc brake calipers.
Take out or loosen the bolts, remove the wheel.
Attach the mount to the frame (rear stays). Align the hole with the dropout and then tighten the bolts, the mount should sit flush on the frame. Once you have all the bolts tightened, check and make sure it’s sturdy before putting back the wheel.
The mount looks sturdy.
Put back the wheel with the disc rotor installed, insert the QR skewer into the hole and tighten it to secure the wheel in place.
Install the IS to Post adapter (160mm) and then the disc brake caliper.
Remove the old rim brake and replace the cable with a longer one.
Are disc brakes better than rim brakes? Leave me a comment below.

Great job man!!
Thanks for the video man!
Great work mate!
I've recently purchased this same adapter so good to see it being installed, got a 94 Diamond Back that I don't want to part with but rim brakes just don't cut it for me now, especially not in muddy and wet off road conditions.
Ya I’m in the exact same situation lol! Great video this is. And his other one about a conversion. I bought a disk brake front shock for my hardtail and want to convert the rear obviously too.
@@paullangdon9575 unfortunately this adapter doesn't fit my frame so back to square one. I'm working about the Chaser one, but they are in very limited supply, as far as I can tell they are only available from the manufacturer, and based in America so gonna be quite expensive.
Is there a link to the adapter?
THANK YOU
Hi Danyo,
Great Job on the conversion. I have a 930 SHX as well and doing the same.
Thanks
@@DanyoSports I did the same setup, except my bracket sits at slight angle causing the disc to rub inside the caliper. Also When i use the back brake, and if i push back the whole bracket moves back till it comes to a stop backwards. Do you have this issue?
@@AzeemKhan-vk7lo Yo, 'you still alive? I might have a solution for the problem
Good video
bro... I got the same bike.. . and I'm 27.5 at the same time swapping... cloning this build as close as I can for the most part
Is the rack mount still usable?
Hiws the feeling? Woobly or what? Can the adapter move or sit it unmoovable?
Is it works for semi verti dropout?
I put a shimano vbrake on my 970 (which already has mechanic disk in on the front) and they are like 15 times better than my old canty (DeoreXL, which, btw, were the most PITA brakes to adjust that i have ever had). Question, are those adapters compatible with aluminum frames?
Yes, the adapters are compatible with aluminum frames.
update for the disc brake adaptor?
Can u use bolt on wheels with this?
Wow whst is the size of your rear rotor sir?
hey man i just bought a 930 too
Nice, have fun with it.
👌👌👌💯
I have the exact same bike, but I can’t get my while into the dropouts after install disc brake caliper mount.
Did you have stretch the frame ?
I have no issues fitting it on.
I asked this question in your other video as well, can this drake brake converter mount be installed for the front wheel as well?
No, it won’t fit on the front fork.
No, you can buy a new fork with IS or PM disc brake support. The most of the new calipers have Post Mount.
is this still good till now? i still worry about that safety of bracket, i always like do a long trip..
Yes, it’s still holding up fine, I’ll make a review video of it next month.
great i was looking for this version
but is it adaptable for the front wheel?
No, I don't think it would work on the front wheel.
@@DanyoSports thx
Does this work with roadbikes
How are they holding up. Has the bracket shifted.
It’s holding up fine, I’ll make an update video of it shortly.
This seems s lot sturdier than the other one. Do you still neet to fix it’s positions regularly?
Yes, it’s a lot sturdier than the other one, I just installed a new disc rotor and I’ve got no disc rubs at all after a few rides on the trails.
Now will it take hydraulic brakes is the question o.O
DanyoSports,
I'm considering making this conversion! How is the bike doing? Do you still ride it today?
The adapter is great and I’m still riding it.
Where to buy this disk brake converter 2.0?
You can buy it on Amazon and AliExpress.
Are those rims brandew, or just from the previous?
Those are the same wheels I was using with disc hubs.
@@DanyoSportsthanks. did you use new spokes for the wheels?
No, I didn’t use new spokes.
Yah, that wheel had the 6 bolt rotor mount. Most people will need to get new wheels to have the correct hub to mount their rotor on.
Where did you get this adapter?
Did you find where?
You can get the adapter from Aliexpress.
Link where to buy the disk adapter???
Here’s the link to the adapter: a.aliexpress.com/_mroxAhJ
how's it holding up?
It’s holding up fine.
@@DanyoSports I got mine now, fitting seems alright
will not work on my bike, design angle is not going to fit my vertical frame and the disc will not bolt to my wheel..
Thanks for letting us know
This does not fit all mtb's; it was no good for my Kona Explosif/Cinder Cone/Lava Dome.
I was just getting ready to make the purchase for my Kona Blast. Thanks for the heads up. 🤙
lmao to go through all that effort to convert from a perfectly adequate V brake to a low end mechanical disc brake with 15+” more brake housing adding more friction to the system.
But now you can go to hydraulic as well.
If i want disc brakes on a Bike,i dont buy a singletrack from the 90s.the Bike lose its Charm .
Long live cantivelers.
Sorry, when someone aims their quick release handle like that I can’t take them seriously.
