Tire Keeps Losing Air? Slime it!
zhlédnutí 3,5KPřed rokem
How to fix a bead leak? The NIU KQi3 Pro front tire has a leak around the bead. The bead is the edge of a tire that sits on the wheel, this problem only occurs when you have a tubeless tire. To fix the leak, you must take out the tire and clean the bead, unless your wheel is damaged, cleaning the wheel and the tire should solve this problem. Slime is a tire sealant and works instantly and seals...
Do You Need a Hanger Extension?
zhlédnutí 13KPřed rokem
What do you need to fit a wide range cassette? When you upgrade to a big cassette, you need to figure out the cage length of the derailleur and also a hanger extension in order to have enough clearance to shift to the biggest cogs. A long cage derailleur has best clearance between the derailleur and cassette and has a maximum chain capacity of 44T range depending on the brand and model. You mus...
8 Speed Shifters with 9 Speed Cassette?
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
When you upgrade from 8 to 9 speed drivetrain, you need new shifters, chain, cassette and perhaps a new derailleur. Today I’m going to correct this Trek FX 2 to the point where a 9 speed drivetrain is supposed to be. Can the 8 speed shifters work with the 9 speed cassette? No, the spacing between the 8 and 9 speed cassettes are different and they won’t work well together. The 9 speed chain is a...
Remove Old Grips With WD-40?

Today I’m going to remove the old grips from this bike with WD-40. The tools I’m using in this video are a can of WD-40 with straw, flat head screwdriver and perhaps some zip ties. Insert the flat head screwdriver into the grip, push as much as you can without damaging the grip and handlebars, put in the straw and then spray in some WD-40. Remove the screwdriver and then twist it until it’s loo...

Singlespeed Coaster Bike: Switching Chainring From 38T to 48T

Choosing the right gear ratio is the key, if you climb steep hills all the time, get a low gear ratio, if you want to achieve high speeds, then get a high gear ratio. Today I’ll increase the gear ratio of the single speed drivetrain, by switching the chainring from 38t to 48t. The gear ratio is 2.11. 38t chainring on the front with 18t cog on the back. The Definition of Half-Links
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 2 lety
Getting a chain to fit on a single speed setup without pensioner requires some time and patience, especially when your bike doesn’t have horizontal dropouts, you probably would need a half link to fine tune the chain tension. Singlespeed Cruiser: Coaster Brake Build

Coaster brakes are also known as backpedal brakes, the braking is applied by rotating the pedals in reverse until the brake engages. Hate it or love it, there's no need to install brake lever or shifters on the handlebars. Vertical dropouts without tensioner? Check out the half link. The chainring is 38t and the sprocket is 18t, therefore, the gear ratio is 2.11. Bike: Kona Muni-Mula Track: Man...
Bike Chain Keeps Falling Off?

A proper adjustment on the drivetrain system, or a tune up, is important to keep your bike on track. Today we’ll take a look on adjusting the limit screws and cable tension of the rear derailleur. Seems to me that it's less of a hassle to shorten the hose on the lever side. Just a new barb and olive (and optionally a barb fitting tool). No removal of caliper/lever from the frame is required that way. Also, the pliers used 1:55 are entirely unsuitable for shortening brake lines. 2:52 lube the o-rings with some mineral oil.

I did this before by drilling a small hole in the side of the free hub and injecting JB Weld into it using a baby Tylenol syringe until it was oozing out of the sides. (discard syringe after) Then letting it sit for 2-3 days to cure. It worked well, but was irreversible. Also, it may not work with a chain tensioner, at least not one that is spring loaded.

  • @adrianTNT
    @adrianTNT Před měsícem

Maybe the small sproket on the tensioner is tought for different chain width, like 8 speed chain vs 12 speed chains are different. Also someone said chains like 8 speed vs 12 speed don't have same geometry or distance at the rollers of the chain link ? This last one seemed a bit odd, but I can't see why that tensioner would make noise if they all fit.

I always use the analogy that Friction is like tuning a radio with no preset you know your "in gear" when the station is loud and clear, and Index is like presets on your radio ...I switched from brifters to Friction about 20 years ago and I am not going back. Bullet proof and works with many combinations of gear.

Good idea, but as some others mentioned below, if you only get 2-3 threads of purchase with the hex nut, this method can just strip the interior threads of the crank. Alternatively, you can keep the cap bolt in the other side and drop in a few small ratchet adapters (or some steel rod of appropriate length). Then use the standard puller to back the crank out.
