Brits have NEVER said this... from day 1 it was always attack attack attack in whatever way Ukraine wanted with 100% backing from us. Some allies are frightened to anger Putler and hold back such as Germany with Taurus Missiles and the US saying only use their weapons in contested territories but NOT in ruzzia. British Storm Shadows were a gamechanger in pushing ruzzian logistics back 50 miles from the frontline due to precision targeting. HIMARS and now ATACMS have set back the ruzzian advances even more.

France doesn't deserve any praise. Macron has been talking tough for a while now but so far they're meaningless words. Up to the end of February the Netherlands, despite having a population one quarter the size of France, has contributed about 50% more in military aid. Denmark has contributed about twice that of France despite having one 12th the population. The US has five times the population but has contributed 37 times as much in miltary aid. Figures are from the Kiel Institute plus the recent aid package from the US.

@@simmorg290 Important not to forget the change that the current French position is from the initial alignment with Moscow, and talk of negotiation. They have come a long way.
The FSB kompromat effort to convince European electors that investment in Defence is not required: Peace Dividend delusion, and their efforts to undermine democracy and consensus have been effective in reducing Defence, which is the First Responsibility of the Nation State.
Because politicians used the pivot from Defence to increased Social Provision, knowing that it would support their hopes of reelection, they now find it very difficult to do the right thing.
You might think that war in Europe is a convincing rationale for 3% GDP defence spending now, but the politicians can only offer the weasel words "aspire to 2.5% GDP when economically feasible" so a long way of from 'We shall fight them on the beaches, we will go on to the end, we will never surrender'.
So WW3 is a hybrid conflict that began some time ago without voters realising the truth, preferring game shows and 'reality tv' to geo-politics and hard reality.

The reasoning more than anything is probably that they can be taken from existing MoD stockpiles of missiles rather than being made and sent to Ukraine. UK has a huge number of the UK military versions of storm shadow, meaning they can just be thrown straight on a C-17 rather than waiting for them to arrive. It's also clearly designed to line up with the US push of more aid, acting as a force multiplier. Even if Ukraine is using them inside the previous restrictions, it means storm shadow can take a more circuitous route to target also, so if Russia wants to shoot them down it would have to redeploy anti-air systems to cover more airspace, thinning them out. BTW the reason that Ukraine needs F16, over the obvious targeting and radar improvements, is that it'll mean Ukraine will be able to use HARM in self-protect mode, meaning Ukraine will be able to operate in Russian-controlled airspace with something closer to impunity than what they have been, this is obviously a big deal for getting 2000lb JDAM to target.

I'm not a fan of misinformation, no matter where it comes from. So please let me clarify the incident in Berlin. It is true that the company involved is also active in the arms industry. However, the Berlin site only produces car parts. The heavy smoke development resulted from a small amount of chemicals stored there for production. There were several alarms about the possible development of toxic gases. However, these were withdrawn only a few hours later, as no increased levels of harmful gases could be detected in the air. It is therefore very unlikely that this was an act of Russian sabotage. At the same time, the Russian media allegedly exploited the incident.
    Greetings from Berlin

I think so far, its Marcon who has impressed me the most with the comment about sending french troops to ukraine...I'm not mad about him as a leader, but have to commend him for that statement because its the only one so far which seems to make putin listen. Putting ANY troops into ukraine upsets him and thats good...Double standards for putin, because he whines about seeing European troops in ukraine, but non too concerned about using or practically abducting foreign troops from abroad to fight for him in ukraine 🤔 Ukraine will do, what Ukraine must do. When are we saying "goodbye" to Crimea bridge ?

Hey Denys, great work as always but one small correction: I live in Berlin (thankfully not in contaminated area). According to Spiegel and other sources the fire did not break out in the factory of the company where they produce the air defence systems but in their factory where they produce other parts for the car industry.

Oh, yeah. The Kersch Bridge is toast. As a retired business manager with no military experience I see that as a priority target. I don't know tactics but I do know supply chain and lead times. It's so vulnerable and obvious. Simultaneous attacks on all the new Russia railways built in Ukraine, of course. Stop the flow of weapons, reinforcements and material. Don't need a crystal ball to see that future.
