As far as I know, this is a terrible idea. In the lab, a way of artificially inducing a structural failure in the weld is by puting copper wire in the way of the root pass. The weld may seem sound at the end but, if you use a penetrative chemical you will find a horrendous crack inside the weld bead. Copper and steel are dissimilar metals and they don't have any eutectic point so it's impossible to alloy them without introducing another metal. The copper wire will create regions where there's no mixing, and the difference of contraction rate between metals creates cracks, even worse cracks than those created by dissoluted hydrogen.

totally agree, the only thing that "weld" will be good is a temporary brace, never put load on that.

Они специально прожигают металл чтобы потом показать как они его заваривают с помощью проволоки.

The thin walled steel melts during welding. This is how welding works. Copper has a lower melting point than the steel welding sticks. Good trick. I would think this technically is brazing, but a part of the joint is really welded.

Correct. Welding is melting the parent metals together. I have actually gas welded (brazed) two pieces of copper together using steel rod (by mistake, as the steel rod is coated with copper, and looks like copper rod) It was not easy, but actually worked! I was wondering why it was so difficult at the time!!!

This guy needs more practice in welding. Sure the metal is joined but the Cu was joined with the 6013 so who knows how the weld will hold up over time and under what conditions. Better to clean the metal before welding, make sure the ground is good and close to the work, try a few test welds to test the settings, and then do a good weld. This video shows a quick and dirty method to do something quick and dirty. Interesting video though. I learned something.
this is Texas tig but with copper, the weld bead is much less stronger than normal 6013 but it has a very good elastic profile
it would work well on cast iron as it will not crack, i won't recommend it for any structural part that faces stress and shit (engine block, drill press base...etc) ut it is great for cast iron kitchen ware and an electric motor case for insurance,

Yup .I actually tried this before with a roll of wire fence to weld a square peice sheet metal to a rust hole i had on a jeep and i had to double up on the sheet metal because either i would burn through or the weld would break after i hamerer the sheet metal to form it to the rest of the floor of the jeep. . The only thing i would possibly use this method for would be to attach a ground wire in my cars chasis in a hole thats already there from the factory . Im going to try it on a peice of metal and see what the resistance is from the copper to the end of the other metal ill be useing .

It is not necessary to use copper. Steel wire also works well and is less expensive.
Я конечно не эксперт, но тут дураку понятно, варить точками, дожидаясь пока почти остынет, чтоб не прожеч, при этом делать движение электродом в обратном направлении шва прежде чем отрывать дугу, чтоб выгнать шлак. Медь тут не нужна.

Yeah, you could've just knocked a little flux off the end of a rod, and if you're welding a lot of thinwall tubing, maybe save all those old used rod ends for the same thing. Considering the price of copper these days, it would seem more economical than wasting good electrical wire. Just my opinion--but based on personal experience...

Это горе сварщик,наверное первый раз в руки взял держак.угол сварки неправильно держит,наверное не знает,чтоугголдерится вдоль шва ,а не по перек.онгреет не равномерно кромки металла ,по этому и прожеги.такой металл спокойно можно варить и без присадки,тем более медной.

I tried the method with a direct weld with an oxy-acetylene torch. She asks me a lot of heat because my copper block does not come into fusion. It is a hassle ! I have over 40 stylized leaves to put on a stair railing. Indeed, to have a green leaf effect, I can only use oxidized copper.
So I want to solder a stylized green leaf of copper (10mm thick block) to the end of a 10mm rod of soft steel.
Will I have better weld resistance over time?
