Hold me closer Tony Danza
Disney need to do specials like these again. We need old style disney back.
Yes I agree
Couldn't agree more 90s disney world is my favorite time
100%!
It make me feel better about paying a monthly subscription for Disney+ for dang sure
They should put this stuff on DVD!
Today I spontaneously remembered having seen a scene where someone took a power drill to a soda cup, and spent an entire drive across town trying with all my might to remember where the devil I remembered it from. Fortunately right as I pulled in at home my brain finally found more details on the memory lurking in the corners of the ol' noggin and I said "THE DISNEYLAND 35TH ANNIVERSAY SPECIAL" out loud as I was getting out of the car. I am relieved to find I was correct and can now rest easy tonight lol
Charles Fleischer is everywhere in this special, ride attendant in the Haunted Mansion as well as the Knight in shining armor in Woody's flashback, Coconut Charlie on The Jungle Cruise and The Balloon Man in Miss Piggy's flashback.
FYI: the Disney Sing Along Songs video Disneyland Fun was filmed during Disneyland Park's 35th anniversary.
wow, that's awesome fact. I had that tape and watched it non-stop
23:20 Star Wars+Muppets+Disneyland? Now THIS is foreshadowing!
Cheers too
As early as 1989 Jim Henson considered selling The Muppets to Disney. (Not Sesame Street)
FYI: the actor who played Earnest, Jim Varney, was the original voice of Slinky Dog in the first two Toy Story films from Disney and Pixar.
He’s Also did his last role of cookie from Atlantis the lost empire.
One of the all time greats
And was supposed to play Ranch Wilder in Angels In The Outfield, but his voice was too raspy.
Can you imagine if the jungle cruise still incorporated shooting directly at animals? Crazy to see how much has changed, especially because I’ve only been around for the last 23 years!
Miss Piggy is voiced by Frank Oz in this special. Eric Jacobson is currently voicing Miss Piggy to this very day.
Boy, television sure has changed ! Loved seeing Will Smith as the Fresh Prince .. too funny !
Oh Piggy, we all want to be friends with the princesses... ;)
Watching something that aired just at the start of the Disney Renaissance and seeing John Ratzenberger before he became Pixar's good luck charm puts a grin on my face.
I feel so old :(
999haunted me 2 i was born before this.
I remember the good old days when things were special and the Disney show would have specials like this. That being said, the jungle cruise section sure turned violent.
It’s supposed to be dangerous. They’d never be able to get away with this now.
i cant believe i just found this from my childhood lol
Best part of this show is Ernest. RIP Jim Varney.
Holy cow Ernest is from the show they have at Disneyland called the laughing stock co. In frontierland that's awesome
The Haunted Mansion skit kinda made me want to cry idk y but it was adorable and kinda sad
i am scared of the snow white ride
Funny during the jungle cruise scene one second Tony Danza is drenched in water the next he's totally dry
I had several dreams about this, I was watching this with my dad, waiting for my mom to come home from work on swingshift.
26:16
"Work at the castle he said
I can become famous he said"
Lol.
With the new Regan movie this year in 2023 (with Dennis Quiad as Ronald Reagan) coming out they need to have a scene we're Ronald Reagan is at Disneyland for it's 35th anniversary
Whenever I go on the Haunted Mansion. I always end up getting stuck by myself and it breaks down in the graveyard
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Is this the only Cinderella they had on call for the day? Did the producer's daughter negotiate the role?
At 28:15...
"Hello. Oh, hello. Hi, how are you today? Oh, hello. How are you today?"
"Fine."
"Fine? Are you having... oh, my fairy godmother made this for me. Do you like it?"
Apparently Cinderella was raised in the San Fernando Valley.
Used to get so excited when we got on the parking tram to go in
I remember watching this special on TV when I was a kid. After watching it, I begged my parents to take me to Disneyland. They said no. Now I have kids of my own and they ask to go to Disneyland all the time and I get to tell them no. Circle of life.
@ramram92 , good for you! That’s how you break that cycle!
Directed by John Landis?!
Aw childhood memories. I think my parents have this one VHS tape
I was there for the 60th anniversary crazy how time flies.. such a historic place
I remember taping this when it premiered, I was 10 years old, I love the scene when Tony danza goes on the jungle Cruise and is soon met with a giant Anaconda (puppet) around his neck lol , what a fun show they pulled off, what great memories of my childhood, I watched the 25th anniversary special years later with Danny Kaye as host, he was terrific as always.
I saw Tony Danza when got on jungle cruise giant anaconda puppet around has neck lol what so fun that was my childhood memories never forget
Did you guys know that John Landis also directed The Blues Brothers (1980) and Trading Places (1983)?
Ernest... awww man... XD ^_^ and Will Smith when he was the Fresh Prince OMG!
Omg! I loved the Cheers bit! Amazing!
I love Disneyland's 35th anniversary! I wish I would've seen this in person.
I was there. Disney now just ain't what it used to be.
I love dinesyland 35 anniversary I wish should be there
I miss Jim Varney! 🥰❤
I was a teen and had only been to WDW when this special aired still I had recorded it on tape and it became my favorite of the specials mostly due to Charles Fleischer's appearances throughout! Many rewatches later and quotes I still use to this day! 😁
going through watching all these anniversary specials and they are so much fun. The last fun was the 40th though and then they became quite dull in my opinion.
41:19 back when he still had fans😊
Thank you for uploading this video! I really liked this video when I was child..
I love this show watching 4 times.
Yes this is a great video, I still a a VHS copy of it myself!
I love the TV show Cheers part where Woody go's to the Haunted Mansion and meets the ghost girl and when Charles Fleischer is the skipper for the Jungle Cruise ride!
It's not that often you see people jumping into the Jungle Cruise river!
Also not a chance they would do the whole Cinderella gag like that with the princess today....not a chance.
The Jungle cruise part is really messed up! I would of been terrified as a kid if I had seen that lolol
It's more kid friendly now. Not to mention, this is just a tv special, not 100% reality
They Put This On Dvd
I was actually there that year, great time with celebrations.
just fyi; for Ernest fans, he starts at the 31:15 mark
I totally miss Ernest
Thanks! Been looking for it
Somebody should edit this and the Splash Mountain special together and retitle it "Ernest Goes to Disneyland" 😂
No wonder Ernest was so messed up. He seemed quite smart when he was young
The 30th was definitely the best!
16:15 of course the man didn't really get Eaten by the crocodile 🐊 because the man's family would've sued Disneyland for that
Also went in October and rode jungle cruise for the first time. Nothing like how it looks like here not to mention when I went the sun had set and it was dark already.. bummer
Not sure if it's cause I'm really drunk and high but this was the weirdest episode of cheers ever!?!
I've seen weirder
I Should Put On Dvd
23:20 The Muppets made an appearance!
the 80's had no chill
I think this was the 90s
This was 80's. Cheers proves it.
35 years makes it 1990. Math is hard.
Man I’m so surprised by how awesome the jungle cruise is! I must try it again
Changed now. Nothing here is acceptable today.😔
i loved how miss piggy mark cindy lol
it was 35 years ago, Disneyland celebrated its 35th anniversary
@26:20 laughed out loud!
President Reagan! 11:45
GET LOST CREEP!! sorry I couldn't help but laugh when Miss Piggy called Gonzo a Creep because Missy Piggy hates Gonzo's Guts
Reagan was out of office for a year
Jim Varney played Earnest's father.
I'm sure if you look on EBay or someplace like that long enough SOMEONE will be selling it! I got the DVD from when the Osmonds and Kurt Russell were premiering the Haunted Mansion and don't think it was ever "officially" released and someone just taped it somewhere but it still is a high quality thing.
This was awsome!!!!!!
I wish will Smith was still a rapper. He was quite talented and a great dancer
44:16 End Credits
gonzo i might that wrong but i just love him
President Reagan 10:54
Freakin cheers
Gonzo is so adorable. Squee!!
I know right. Did you know that Gonzo's performer, Dave Goelz's birthplace is Los Angeles, California? That means he was born near Disneyland except it was 9 years before it first opened.
Will Smith is great in this.
President Reagan In 1955 10:54
this is so great
I'm trying to find the song that goes "Come on celebrate Disney land! 35 years young... Join in, don't hesitate, clap your hands... come and join the party and celebrate!" I can't find it on this or any parade broadcast to save my life.
3:34 Oh my god, It's young Macklemore.
Oh my god, it IS! 😆
16:00 Uh... Disney, everyone.
you know for kids
Enter: life in the 80's
I've noticed an actor in the suit of armor in the Haunted Mansion scene of this special. FYI: when the Haunted Mansion first opened in 1969, there was an actual cast member inside the suit of armor. The current version of the ride has a mechanical suit of armor.
Wow, imagine having to stand in there all day and night with no breaks
The suit of armor you're referring to has always been there. There wasn't a live actor until a brief period in the '80s, but it was past the endless hallway and is not the mechanical one you're referring to.
Cheers segment was funny until it turned into a commercial
Ever see "The Burbs" with Tom Hanks? The jungle cruise music sounded, almost, just like the nightmare scene soundtrack.
24:49 that's my brother's mother, no joke
Miss Piggy is you Brother’s Mother?!
@@rh5563 no lmao, The blonde girl beside her
@@damianhoward2338 , lmao! Well, your Brother’s Mother has good genes.
Thanks for the retort. It made me laugh. 👍👍👍

I think Miss Piggy was getting a little too carried away with replacing Cinderella in the parade.
And we all know Miss Piggy never gets carried away
I’ve been in it as a guest when it’s this empty ( Mansion ).
34:20 Ernest Goes to Jail foreshadowing (the same year)...
I wonder if miss piggy’s childhood friends were scarred by losing her at Disneyland. I wonder if they still wonder what happened to her?
Well they saw her on the Muppet Show, they saw she did good for herself. They got back in touch, and Piggy and her friends get back together every year for coffee!
C3po and R2-D2
Eric Smithson irony!
Ernest too. He rules. Even if his father was neglectfully senile. Borderline abusive.
I heard this has back to the future music, where is it on here
LOL Ernest!!!!!!!
For the Cheers segments I’m guessing it’s either Season 8 or 9 plus I just noticed that Sam and Rebecca aren’t in it.
What's with Disney and Cheers? They were on both this and Mickeys 60th birthday special. I mean I could understand network promotion since both were on NBC but still.
Cheers was one of NBC’s top-rated shows, and was usually the #1 show in the country around that time.
Did the actor really get eaten by a gator in this? Or he is dead
He sacrificed himself for our entertainment.
That'd be cool n' all. But what inspirational TV show could they use today? Jersey Shore? LMAO.
the Goldbergs
Bob commes at disneyland 35th anniversary New DVD It's good
