Rick is also way less drunk, so he's able to be more mentally, morally, and emotionally present. This renewed presence and becoming unencumbered by alcohol also lends him the mental resources and resolve to process his trauma, heal, and transcend.
Edit: He was way less drunk cuz he was actually Rickbot. RIP Rickbot.
I really like the parallel between Rick no longer using alcohol to run from his problems, as well as being unable to use the portal gun to run from his problems.

I think it's interesting that based on this theory, Rick Prime basically created his opposite Rick by trying to prevent it's creation. It's exactly like Rick says in the fortune cookie episode, by trying to make something less likely to happen you're actually making it more likely to happen.

I love the scene where Rick slaps Jerry for calling him a friend and then apologizes. To me it's a very funny but strong sign of change

You could also see Rick apologizing to Jerry as him finally loosing it as he is always talking about nihilism so by doing something he would never do he’s showing he’s tired of this whole thing and he finally doesn’t care anymore just wanting to get this all over with like for example Rick and Birdman at the end of the war
And Jerry is immediately cool with it, despite that he was whimpering a second ago. A+ manipulation Jerry, congrats. He's finally learning to use his pathetic-ness in his own benefit consciously.
The fact that we’re on the sixth season and the show is still coming up with creative episodes is just amazing

I just wanna say I really appreciate how Film Theory doesn’t just look at what’s actually happening on screen to make theories but looks at the themes present in the series and makes theories based on that - I find a lot of other theories tend to miss that crucial element.

During the Shoney’s episode we learn the Rick Prime offered Rick a chance to be the Infinite Rick. I think that was a literal offer. At the end of this season we find that Rick Prime is in multiple places at the same time. It’s either a hive mind, metaphysical omnipresence, or something like the one electron theory. Or not.
It is not said that Rick Prime is in "multiple places at the same time" but rather it showed us all the possible places that he might be.

I was super impressed with this first half of season six. It was clearly well thought out, and extremely polished. In all art it is often trendy to say "the old stuff was better" but, no, this was fantastic and fresh.

No the old stuff was definitely better but overall season 3 is probably the best season with season 6 being on the lower end with season 4. 3>1>5>2>4>6 season 5 arguably has the highest highs but deff the lowest lows.
How tf is Rick losing the agency to stand up against his shitty family and being overly godlike in the fortune cookie episode and having episodes like Night Family filled with a bunch of non Rick and Morty cartoony visual gags well thought out?

five let’s forget the beth episode
This episode aged especially well with the new episodes, in the Meta one, he admits his mistakes to Morty after he calls him out. The last time Morty called him out like that, he had to dive into the vat of acid. Plus, in the Sun Knights episode, Rick genuinely attempts to be kinder to Morty and apologizes to him. Rick has a massive arc within this season, and you love to see it.

In the season six finale you find out in the knights of the sun episode Rick replaced himself with a robot that was 22% more affectionate towards his family.

Its also interesting how portal travel is almost like a drug to rick, a getaway from reality, just literal instead of figurative.

Really loving the season so far it feels refreshing and they still keep the original charm also loving the continuity

I like the idea that Rick Prime trying to avoid a counter Rick being created and in the end creating it himself through his actions... Or as to quote from Kung Fu Panda: "One meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it"

I always loved that nihilism was portrayed super well in this show. Rick is a nihilist not because it's funny or (for some reason extremely popular within adult comedy) but because it just makes sense for him to be, because he KNOWS about all the infinite universes and how everything he does has been done ten times over and reversed. He's actually given a reason to thinking that
I feel it's kind of inevitable for those that are intelligent and strict followers of evidence based science. As something that "matters" is entirely subjective and can't really be quantified empirically. I feel the "big brain" moment is realizing it doesn't matter if "something matters". As long as we can be respectful of what matters to others (within reason), that's ultimately what "matters". I hope that made sense 😂

Something I’ve liked about this season is how they’re really just not as negative and annoyed constantly. It’s funny every now and then but not all the time
I feel like Rick is moving from nihilism to existentialism, and is starting to just enjoy life and those around him.
I think even Rick Prime at the end of the day, will stop short of hurting Morty. He sees his dead wife in him. The personality, the optimism. It's one of the big reasons he keeps Morty around.

On discovering (or rather, stealing) portal travel, he starts hoping dimensions, defeating Rick several times and ruling over the citadel.
It might be revealed that Beths act as a blocker to Jerrys, similar to Life and Knowledge seeds in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and that he can overpower Ricks with relative ease.
Not gonna lie this season has been so cathartic for me. I’ve been on a healing journey the last 6 months or so, and this season has really resonated with me. I’ve learned a thing or two from it
I always thought the detail of evil Rick shooting Kronenberg Jerry before even finishing his sentence as really illuminating of the apathy of his character

I actually think the fortune Rick keeps in his pocket is one written "You will receive a call from your crush" if you pause the time he catches a lot of fortune coockies you see this one and to me would make sense for him to keep this one too, to receive a call from Beth's mother
If that was the case, he wouldn't be that mad at Jerry for making friends with him.
Although, perhaps realising he was immortal anyway caused the change of heart.
Like how Rick's "noble self-sacrifice" in "The Wedding Squanchers" was actually just part of a plan to defeat the Galactic Federation and the Council of Ricks.

If Rick continues his path of healing, he would develop something to fight for. Prime Rick doesn’t have a reason for his activities (that I know of) which puts him at a disadvantage. Having nothing to lose makes somebody dangerous, but nobody fights harder than our Rick if he dedicates his life to protecting his family
My theory is that there are two type of of RICK
Our Rick (c137), the ANTI-RICK, or the rick whose family are killed
Deadbead dad Rick (Rick Prime and his variants).
ANTI-RICKS inhabits the universes of Rick Prime.
They annihilate each other much like Matter annihilate Anti-matter when they collide.
I think Rick had a comment this season about staying "dead center on the alignment chart" or something like that. Could be his anti-rick-meteor strategy.

I actively enjoyed this season. I liked the change in Rick the most, especially how he positively treats his relationship with his family
I love how our Rick is doing the exact opposite of Prime Rick. Where Prime Rick abandons him family, doesnt care about anyone else, our Rick is helping his "family", and slowly is becoming the man he always thought he will never be, a person who cares
One thing I do hope for the season 2nd half is that they do the Jerry assistant sequence more

I think Rick prime and our Rick might actually be the only two ricks to create inter dimensional travel on their own. It’s possible that every other Rick we see dimension hopping was given the technology by Rick prime which is why even tho there are infinite Rick’s out there, there almost seems to be a finite amount of inter dimensional ones.
Would also explain why many Ricks in the Citadel seemed a little dumber than C-137
Little late and you probably know this by now, but Rick prime acknowledges this, confirming he was the only other Rick to invent it without Rick primes help.

If u watched the full episode it was bc Rick had an unresolved fortune that can only be broken by him “gaining a friend”. An unresolved fortune makes him 100% immortal btw. So when he said “thanks, friend” he just broke Ricks near-godly immortality. So it hits even deeper when you realize he still apologized for hitting him after that, season 1 Rick would’ve just ray-gunned him and then teleported to an identical universe where he didn’t ray-gun Jerry.
Also he puts the fortune back in his pocket after that, so cute. 🥹

It's crazy to me that the theme that Matt called out in this video of dissatisfaction after achieving your goals perfectly lines up with Rick midway into Season 7 after killing Rick Prime. He avenged his family but he's dissatisfied with the end result
for someone whose seen season 7 (5 out so far) he's surprisingly accurate
"I just didn't wanna see someone get bullied *into going to the zoo*" was the full line at about 2:25.
That was the most subtle yet passive aggressive comment to show you’ve watched season 6 I’ve ever seen.

Season 6 is insane in a bad way.
Quick question: When Rick accidentally reset all the portal travelers, he seemed to instantly know what was going on. If he knew where Prime Rick’s original universe was, then couldn’t he have specifically reset all portal travelers from that universe a long time ago? So that Prime Rick would pop up right in front of him?
Probably because the other ricks would still have their portal guns at that point, so they could still just portal out before this Rick would arrive.
Its simple without portal travel messed up he knew Rick Prime could just bounce, while knowing somebody knew how to do that and could thus take precautions in the future, its quite clear Rick Prime hadn't figured that part out yet himself, else he wouldn't have been asking himself why he was back in his home dimension. This also explains why Rick was dragging his feet on fixing the Rift, realizing it was far more a hinderance to Rick Prime staying hidden.

When I first watched the dinosaur episode the graph between the dinos and meteors reminded me of how Rick's intelligence was counterbalanced by Morty. Allowing Rick to be hidden by Morty. I think the Dinosaurs were smarter than Rick because they are outside of the infinite curve. Because they are outside of the curve now there can be things smarter than Rick. And just like Rick has Morty the meteor shower that the higher intelligence means that something has to counter balance it.

Kind of hilarious how wrong this ended up being. Instead of a diametrically opposed Rick that kills prime, its a morty that ended up there by happenstance whose motive was his own continued survival.
