There is zero logic or sense for the old veteran to having to fight a giant 28 year-old wild kid barely more than half his age. Other than money, there's nothing for the skilled but very, very old Glover to prove. And even more skilled, more prime, stronger, faster 30 year-old Jiri will just punch & kick him silly. Yes, Glover could box and could do BJJ, better than Jiri; but he's too old, without much fast twitching muscles.

On the topic of Jiri: The man has been tested by USADA 36 times in 2022. That’s nearly once per week. To put that in context, the fighter with the second most tests in 2022 is Usman with 14, and Jiri has been tested more than Usman, Costa and Dillishaw combine. That’s pretty wild.

I couldn't believe how Jiri was able to survive with Glover in the mount. On the back. Deep arm triangle. Never got deterred and even escape the Mount most guy do not survive that

On the flip side I can't believe Glover survived on the feet at all honestly. I totally counted him out if the fight stayed standing, and I counted Jiri out on the ground they both proved my wrong lol

Jiri was unusally sloppy in the striking; switching from too hesitant to too aggressive at the wrong times, missing beats, off pace and not capitalizing on VERY obvious openings. He never used his reach advantage or the jabs and uppercuts that were visibly effective on Glover, instead going for -200 IQ jumping knees throughout all the goddamned fight. Meanwhile, Glover's grappling was exemplary, Jiri just managed to survive and eventually neutralize it. Glover fought a very out-of-character Jiri in the striking department while Jiri fought a very on-point Glover in the grappling-department.
Yeah normally when most fighters are put in those positions by Glover they get beat up and give up. Somehow not Jiri though, his mental toughness is out of this world.
The first fight was one of Glover's best performance, and a learning process for Jiri.
Jiri will replace all his jumping knee by jabs that open up more striking combos which is what was going well for him. All the jumping knees gave Glover a free advantage, Jiri taking this away from him will make it harder for Glover to have any opportunities.
Glover will be older and more damaged. Jiri will be a more complete version of himself. This fight won't be anything like the first, Jiri will run through Glover.

I watch the fight the next day, but accidentally opened an Instagram msg and as it was loading the home page had Jiri with the belt. During the fight I transitioned from "shit I ruined the outcome for myself, Jigi wins", to "oh, it was a photoshop from an MMA meme page or something, Glover got this".
It was a roller-coaster of emotions either way lol.

Even though the last fight was amazing!! One of the main reasons it was amazing was because both guys made so many mistakes. I really hope both fighters can patch the holes in their game that they showed in the first fight so we can see these two guys at their best for the second fight!!

I'm totally a fan of Jiri Prochazka now, its a privilege to watch him fight. I would love to see how these 2 fighters evolves from their 1st fight. Their 1st fight is straight out of anime, Glover is an amazing guy.
I'm down to see the fight again it's just crazy to me that their doing a rematch. If it's half as interesting as the first fight it will be a good one.

IMO Glover was up 3-1 against Jiri before the out-of-nowhere finish, similar to Usman vs Edwards 2, so this is going to be a great runback and Glover definitely deserves a rematch!

Pretty much everyone agrees that Glover was just 30 seconds away from retaining his title. Unfortunately Glover made a huge mistake going for the guillotine and ending up on the bottom after rocking Jiri. That choke gave Jiri the opportunity to take full advantage of Glover's mistake.

First round clearly went to Glover (tho Jiri had strong finish), second round was extremely close, could've gone either way, 3rd clearly to Jiri (even tho Glover had some moments) 4th round again extremely close. People are acting like Glover mauled Jiri in Sonnen vs Silva style and then Jiri stole the match with a miracle. It was competetive as hell.

Jiri giving an immediate rematch to Glover makes no sense. If Glover wins, Jiri's out in the cold and not getting another chance anytime soon.

True Warrior. He feels like even though he got the finish, it was extremely late and went much longer than he wanted, in addition to the fact he would have lost had Glover been able to survive that hail mary choke, so he wants a more dominant win. It also gives Glover what in all likelihood will be not only his final title shot but the last fight of his career, so I'm all for it. It also let's the division sort itself out a bit too, so it's all good. The 1st fight was dope too, so I don't see why people have such an issue with this fight.....

Even from a pure business standpoint, glover is the easiest opponent out of everyone he could've fought. There was rakic, ankalaev, and blachowicz. All tough dudes

Glover lost the cardio battle by a couple of minutes the first time. His chin likely took more damage than Jiri's and his cardio is going to be worse now. If this was a three round fight I'd say Glover would be the favorite, but this time he will need a finish or the cardio problem will show itself again.

I'm a retired fighter that suffered alot of injuries as a flight medic in the US Military. Once you hit your mid 30s - things are waaaaay different. I was unstoppable at 24. Now I count the number of stairs.
This was the right call
If stipe vs Jones happens this year it's either gonna be the co main event if this cars (which it shouldn't) or be the main event of a December fight night(which it definitely fucking shouldn't)
Either way, Glover will go out on his shield. What a warrior. And what a great example for young fighters to follow.

Why that comment about Hill at then end though if anyone got shafted by the fact the first Jiri-Glover fight was a classic and a rematch was a no brainer was Ankalaev, a fight against Blachowicz is hardly a compensation for a title fight; Hill had to put way more effort than expected against an over-the-hill Santos recently so him waiting a little bit may not be a bad thing, he needs to be as sharp as possible if he is going to get matched against any of those other 4 fighters.

Chimaev isn't a Sambo wrestler. Idk why people keep thinking that he is. He's had very, very few Sambo wrestling matches in his entire life, literally like 3 or 4. He certainly isn't a Sambo wrestler "at the highest level.
On top of that, he never, ever, ever actually trained Sambo... nor judo... but he competed in a couple of each simply to test himself. But he literally had never trained in either.
