Many products used in US are also made in China even goods like iPhone and Tesla. Cheap and inferior products (depending on price) were things of the past. Some scholars quoted ever since 2014. Today, China products are of quality, innovative, high spec and reasonably priced in which the west calls them now as Overcapacity! 😂😂😂😂

India needs to shake its reputation as the graveyard of foreign investments.
Take the example of Xiami, they have invested in 6 factories in India, yet they were treated as enemies. On the contrary, foreign investments in China are given extraordinary privileges. They have special teams to babysit the companies to make sure their factories receive all the required permits and access to all the needed services. They would even build a special road for the factories. India needs to ratchet up their sincerity a couple of notches.

Indian always try to catch the fish in the river by their hands when they see one.
China always try to catch the entire stock of the fish in deep ocean by 15~20 deep trolling boats working together with lines few km away.
Its the vision, co-ordination, determination, guts, risk taking mentality and long term investment that make China different than India. 😂
I bet there are more Chinese fishing boats and catches more fish stocks in Indian Ocean than Indian themselves.

It's time for India to think "value added". You sell iron or copper ore to China; Chinaman refines, processes & makes machine components, then sells them back to India at high value. Is it any wonder that India imports 6x more than she exports? How much has China's GDP grown in 40 years? Simply no chance of collapse if one is rational.

India does have some way to catch up to China, I am saying this NOT because I want to knock India just for the sake of it. Let's use the "once gold standard" manufacturing nation namely the US as an example. The US now finds it an uphill battle to match China, and that tells us much about how stiff the competition is when it come to China.
China has learned mass production well. People would argue that Chinese goods are rubbish because they are cheap. But they have confused the the meaning of "cheap" with "poor quality". It should have been called "affordable". Ask yourself a simple question..."Do you always buy in up market shops where you pay a premium for name, prestige, spin, and a lot of time, just to feel good about being seen in such lofty places?
China knows the "sweet spot" of common people's spending habit. It means you price your goods at the level they can afford, and with reasonable quality that it would last within most people expectation. Let's use power tools as an example. I can buy a drill that would do all my jobs satisfactorily. I only use it say a few times of the month, and in short bursts. Now I see no reason to pay 4-5 times more for a power drill made in USA for the same purpose. And that is my point...the sweet spot, priced to the depth of your pocket, for people with good financial sense.
One good example to illustrate China's efficiency is railway construction. Highly mechanized, well-planned, mostly on time and within budget. India is seduced by the US by its slogans and frightened by the threats conjured up, eg. NATO. i suppose that is how politics work. Modi talked up the divided between Hindus and Muslims to advance his political fortune. Perhaps Indian politicians should play less politics and concentrate more on building up the basic of the nation?

Xenophobia is well entrenched in India. With many also still blaming all issues on Colonialism. Get over this crutch and get it in gear. Western corporations recognize Indian talent and promote it within their ranks. India needs to stop circling the wagons with tariffs and begin nurturing capital investments. Why would any corporations invest where they have many hurdles and face a lack of appreciation post investment.
India has a huge young educated work force, crying for work opportunities. While old men at the top are locked in a mindset from pre internet days.
