One of the biggest differences between how American English native speakers and language learners sound has to do with the vowels or consonants we use, but not in the way you may expect.
The reality: we often struggle to feel natural adding the elements we need to use in our pronunciation, especially when it comes to placement when pronouncing vowels and consonants like native speakers. We're going to talk about what it means to have a high placement and a low placement in American English pronunciation
Welcome to Wake Up American, where Monday through Friday, we spend a couple minutes on a challenging aspect of American English pronunciation and walk through examples to help you achieve a more natural sound the next time you speak in American English at work, at home, or out and about town.

Higher placement creates more tension in front of the throat.
certainly possible!
When you do that scale on EE as in seat, does the tongue tip slide from being on the back of the top front teeth down to being behind the bottom teeth? Generally which one's more common for the Ee?
The tongue doesnt have to move; in fact, the front can be against the bottom front teeth the entire time if you want
5:54 in clearly, leader, the L is before a vowel, 😮and it's still dark?
So I can start any word beginning with L with dark L? , when I say it I hear an intrusive U as in push In that dark l 🤷♀️
There's nothing wrong with a traditional light L sound; starting with a dark L is just another option that may help open up breath/lower placement
You always lower your voice but women and lots of guys with higher pitched voices can’t do that. I’m really confused. Like my wife whom is a marine born American. She sounds American but she doesn’t sound like a country singer with a low voice lol
The key to remember is that a low placement is relative to our own bodies. What is low placement for some people could cause others to use a higher placement if they imitated the sound
