I have collected a bunch of questions revolving around clichés, my favorite day, surprises, advice, and my daily life for your exchange year. Basically telling you all about my exchange student experience and how to prepare yourself for your study abroad adventure.

You need/totally should to make a video about your room and what your host family let you do with it. Also one about what your host parents provided for you like did they buy you new clothes if needed or things at the store ect

Did you experience any reverse culture shock when you returned to Germany? Were you able to switch off your American mindset & reacttivate your German one automatically or did you have any struggles?
Amazing question! I will definitely deal with this one in a separate video a bit closer to spring when many exchange students get a bit closer to going home. But it's such an important topic so thanks for asking!!
Laura...did it take you a while to get used to AC (air conditioning) in the US? ...and did you miss it when you got back to Germany??
I'll definitely put that in a future Q&A. Let's say I have an ambivalent relationship with AC. More on that later :)
@@honey27003 Gotcha Laura.Thank You for the reply. I just have heard from other Germans that they think that buildings & houses in the US are Too Cold with AC..(I just set the AC to whatever temp I like) They say in Germany "We just open all or windows when it's hot outside!" WELLLL....If it's 93 Degrees (F) outside it's probably a lot hotter inside...opening your windows will make your house no colder than 93 Degrees inside! In any case..look forward to your next Q & A! Sorry you are not here in the US. right now....Thanksgiving is coming up fast......and you'll miss all that Turkey, Side Dishes....and PIE! ;)
@@balancedactguy Yes, nobody I know has AC in Germany. I guess our homes are built differently so they don't heat up as fast so its not a problem unless you live in the highest story of a building because that's where all of the heat gets stored. I am so sad to miss Thanksgiving but hey what can you do? Already looking forward to my grandma's Christmas dishes though! My favorite meal of the year
@@honey27003 Thanks for the Reply Laura! I guess in Germany Summers don't get as sweltering hot as you will find in the US as well,...especially like in Texas. I live in Michigan and we can have some very Hot, Humid Summers. One year the Temperature was over 100F 5 days in a row...no rain for weeks. About missing Thanksgiving......maybe you can buy a Turkey and have your OWN Thanksgiving this year...in the UK I guess. Thanksgiving this year is November 25th....so you have some time to prepare!!! (LOL!) I hope you have a Great Christmas this year and tell your Oma I said " Froehliche Weihnachten!" Aufwieder-"Posten"! LOL!
@@balancedactguy Oh how I wish my cooking skills were good enough for a Thanksgiving dinner. I guess it doesn't hurt to try though
