For around town stoplight to stoplight, the 392 Challengers are the most fun of the 3 brands. I actually cross-shopped a mustang gt pp2, a 2ss 1le, and my 392 T/A. I went with the dodge for a few reasons... the space, it's roomy and comfortable, and the 392 sounds amazing, it feels faster.... weird I know since its the slowest of the 3, I guess the low-end torque just makes it fun. It also has an experience to it that only driving it can describe.

Cool video. I have a 2019 Challenger 392 T/A and a friend of mine had a 2020 Camaro SS 1LE. We met up one day to compare the cars, eat a little lunch, and have fun. I took him for a ride in my car and let him drive it. He did the same with his. Both cars had their strengths and weaknesses. I felt like his car was faster and he thought mine was faster. The Tremec TR-6060 in the SS seemed to shift smoother than the one in my Challenger. The 1LE package is definitely worth the money because the Camaro outhandled my car. Neither of us could decide which car sounded better. I'd have to say the Camaro is a little more fun to drive and the Challenger is much more comfortable. I wish I could own both, but the Challenger is more usable with the larger rear seat area and trunk. The Camaro is cool looking, but I just love the retro looks of the Challenger.

Nice objective review. I have had multiple vehicles with the 5.7 Hemi but the 6.4 is definitely a different beast. My 2018 Scat Pack Challenger with the automatic was a little faster than my latest 2021 Challenger T/A 392 with a manual but it wasn't as fun and was quieter. The automatics have the MDS so the exhaust is tuned to muffle it more when switching to 4 cylinders. I wasn't fond of it. Nice to have all 8 cylinders all the time with a more open exhaust.

If you want a car that handles you get a Miata. If you want a beast with outrageous low end torque and old school looks you get a Scat Pack Challenger. I've raced and beaten three Scats in my Manual Mustang GT, but I had to come from behind to catch and pass them. The low end torque is quite a bit more than a Mustang's, but when the Mustang gets to 60-65 mph it will shine as that Coyote comes alive. Still, Challengers of any trim are beautiful rides!

Here's my two cents, I had a 2018 ss1le, it got totalled,( wasn't my fault) car was great but had issues with the shudder trans, easy scratch paint, I got into a widebody hellcat and I had to have it, I felt like I was actually in a muscle car, the camaro and mustang gave me more of a sports car feel, and to top it off, the challenger was insanely comfortable inside.from 2010-15 camaros were muscle/pony cars, from 2016-2018 the camaro was a muscle/sports car, from 2019-22 the camaro 80% majority sports car, and 20% muscle 😑with the new look and transmission. Dodge kept it pure all american muscle from the start to finish, sold more, then chevy and ford's, and right now the resale value for the charger/challenger is higher. Dodge is for the drag strip and the streets🇺🇸💪🔥, u might lose control on a track tho🤣

I agree with everything but the resale value. At least for the online retailers and dealerships where I'm at. Used scatpacks are becoming dime a dozen. There are so many you actually have a leverage when shopping for one. I even had a dealer offer knock 7k off a used hellcat for me which I reluctantly passed on. The used ss 1le's are going well over msrp when you can even find them. Dealers know this and wont move at all. Now widebody hellcats, demons, jailbreaks are a different story, but that's ZL1, shelby class which are both holding their value equally well.

    • @virusworld3730
      @virusworld3730 Před 2 lety +3

@@Chasethe1le it's the opposite where I'm located, the only things you'll see on the lot are v6 and rt's, since 2020 the resale value of the challenger passed ford and chevy, everything else sells pretty quick, the dealerships knows everyone wants those cars, rap videos, instagram, fast and furious movies, so they'll mark up the prices way above msrp. Especially anything widebody, camaros went up as well but unless it's a ZL1 it sits in the lots for a long time. U got really lucky if the dealership took $7k off of that hellcat 😳😳😳😳 in this current climate, that's un heard of😲!! I would of took it and sold it to car max🤣 they're giving alot for those cars, I already have 1 hellcat. But the dime a dozen thing, my dad says the same thing.

@@virusworld3730 Im in the phoenix area and the last time I was really looking (prior to ordering my 1LE) was Jan/Feb but I had been looking for a while prior to that. It was a 2015 but pretty spec'ed out and less then 27k miles. They had it listed slightly under bluebook already and knew that i was pretty set in my plan of ordering the SS but wanted to try it out first.
After the test drive they went back and came back with a price 7k under the listed price. For context we just bought a RDX Aspec less then a year ago from them and they were a relatively new dealership still so idk if that played into things. Ultimately we were on our way to a suns game anyway and I didnt want to rush into a decision but there was a part of me that was very very tempted to buy the hellcat, then order the SS and just enjoy it until that came in but when you factor in taxes, insurance and everything it still wouldn't have been cost effective so I didnt. Going the Carmax route might have got me a little bit though.
You are right on the SS's just sitting too, but since there's so few of them its more of a posturing move by the dealerships from what I've seen. Specifically with the 1LE's Dealers seemed absolutely fine leaving them on the lot and not taking a dime off of them because they knew they were going to get what they asked for. I test drove a 2019 1le back in december and kept an eye on it. They actually bumped the price UP by 2k before it was sold in January. The 2 others I that popped up near me in that timeframe that were over MSRP the dealers said there was no negotiation room at all but they were listed for about 2 months each. There were more scatpacks and mustang GT's I looked at or asked about there was some degree of wiggle room or a good deal would inevitably pop up on its own because there were so many. Same with the non 1LE 1SS's as well.

Thanks for such a great and objective review; I’ve had my scat challenger WB that I ordered ( 8 weeks to get it ) and received in November and the car just keeps getting better as it breaks in; I’ve grown to appreciate the Camaro’s and I’m giving it serious thought to buying a 2SS1LE; it’s a better value for the car that you get, because demand is so high on the Scats and Hellcats there’s a premium tacked on to all orders’ ( at least in my part of the country).
Camaros’ have earned my respect but I love my Challenger more and more each day. My brother rolls a Mustang GT Premium and it’s tuned so I struggle just to keep up and be neck and neck with his a$$.
On a side note; I got ambushed by a Lamborghini Aventador and a McLaren 720. The Lamb was next to me at the light and I kicked the sh*t out of him by running up right under his a$$ when I switched lanes that’s when I saw the McLaren and to my surprise he completely backed down; I don’t think these guys in their exotics are used to American muscle taking them on….it was great. Maybe if you had a hellcat you could at-least run with them, you probably was just reading into things taking it way to serious, them boys would eat you for dinner in your baby scat, they got nothing to prove.

It really comes down to styling, the need for more room (if you're a bigger or taller person) and if you want a more old school feeling muscle car. I love the way the Challenger WB Scat looks but for me personally I would rather have the all around better performing car. And there's no way this boat is gonna handle nearly as good as a 1LE. The interior on the scatpack and hellpack was really nice though. Definitely a great car for a roadtrip. To me the scatpack just doesnt give the same sense of speed as the ss and there is significantly more body roll. Now the hellcat has that sense of speed for sure but its sooo squirrely (I did not drive the widebody hellcat). The clutch is significantly heavier in the hellcat as well which would probably get old over time for those who plan to daily it.
I was really really close to going with the hellcat I drove any they even knocked a lot more off the price then I was expecting but in the end the ss 1le was just more engaging. Thinking of trading my scatpack for a camaro 2ss. Do you think that would be a good trade?

I'd say good trade. The SS is a bit more versatile with it's performance

Coming back and watching this now that I'm a couple weeks away... I think that car has a mid muffler delete. It's crazy how much hate this car gets from mustang and maro owners...but I get it. They have a car that is technically faster and better handling but no one really cares. They just don't have the gravitas a Challenger has. The V6s draw looks. The widebody will draw crowds.

Yup was pretty sure it had the mid muffler delete. The muscle car guys are pretty polarized by brand and there is some legitimacy to it, as you stated. But I'll tell you man I really really like a scat pack challenger. My buddy has a wide body with shaker and it just looks like a really good piece of steak. Full respect for dodge for making these

Love the challengers. But dam that is the ugliest and very long manual shifter I have seen in a long time without the car being pre 90's lol
