    T/A or Shaker. People can't not look. For decades, I felt like I missed out on the greatest time in history for muscle car enthusiasts. It took almost 50 years but Dodge brought it back and did it right.

      The T/A package has the Hellcat (much larger) airbox base and gives three sources of cold air: 1) the Mopar Performance hood that is sealed to a large, OPEN conical air filter, 2) the T/A scripted, illuminated headlight systen that is OPEN on the driver's side. There is a tube that ducts the cold air fron the headlight opening directly to the airbox. It is a sealed path that doesn't allow hot air in and 3) a large, triangular shaped hole in the bottom of the airbox that takes in cold air BENEATH the engine. All of these are unsilenced as well, and there are no kinked hoses or other silencing functions to kill your SOUND and POWER. This makes it superior over tge Shaker Hood setup thar has small but functional holes in the Shaker. Also, it dues nit have the larger volume Hellcat bottom airbox, nor the Mopar Perfoenance hood that is sealed via rubber "fitting' to an otherwise open airbox (no top; much larger box overall).. Therefore, the intake airflow is superior with the T/A package over the Shaker. The T/A package also has 3" lower spring rates and larger sway bars - along with the white faced gouges, blacked out hood, roof, and teunk, T/A lettering in the seats and on the sides of the car and on the right (passenger) side of the rear spoiler, etc. Go T/A!!

    @johnmick9457 Před rokem +3

    The T/A was the original trim when Dodge got into Trans Am racing. They didn't fair to well against the Z-28's or Boss 302, but whenever I see one, I can't help but think of the number 77 Dodge Challenger driven by Sam Posey in Trans Am in the 70's.

    I enjoyed your video review, especially since you came from a much smaller vehicle, I traded in a 15' GT/PP Mustang manual only at the time, for a base 19' manual scat pack challenger with only the shaker option. The challenger felt so massive compared to the mustang, even with the 392/manual and retro looks it was tough for me to adjust after the mustang, as one felt like a sports car with it's interior wrapped around you and the other didn't feel as sporty with the spacious interior and an extra 500 pounds of weight. I know apples to oranges. I did keep the scat pack for 9 months before I traded it for a GT350 which is true sports car. The Challenger is a true American Muscle car with the looks and sounds to go with it. Enjoy your T/A especially since you opted for a manual trans as it gives a performance car a different dimension to driving.

    Hey man ik you was talking about the Blizzak winter tires, you should look at winter performance tires like the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4, you have grip for dry roads and for snow/slush at winter temperatures. These type of tires give you much better all around performance compared to all season tires and then get a dedicated summer tires like Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. This way you don't lose performance. Awesome car btw

    The only mod I suggest is a Barton shifter. It's well worth it and I believe he has 15% off right now. Also, don't forget skip shift eliminator and I also highly recommend the clutch delay valve removal..., another simple job that greatly increases clutch performance.

      Thanks for the advice! I don't know if this car has the skip shift feature, because I have never encountered it forcing me into 4th instead of 2nd. I really want to do the clutch delay valve delete though. The clutch feel is really one of my main complaints with this car. It is a really easy job to do as well, I just need to find a place to do it, ideally with a lift to make it even easier.

      That is for sure one downfall of the 392. I have run into redline many times. All the torque is down low, so it really doesnt rev high. If the mustang had more space, I would have bought one for sure, probably in the form of the gt350

      @@Carguy1999Reviews Not really a downfall, imo.. More akin to what this car is.. a muscle car.. not a high-revving 'sports car' which is what the Mustang and Camaro are classified as now, imo.. This is the last 'true' muscle car.. But with the double-wishbone all around, it acquits itself surprisingly well, handling wise, for something weighing 4200lbs..

    • @scottandrews4822
      @scottandrews4822 Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, but the Challenger has that low end, drivable, TIRE SHREDDING TORQUE that makes the car "feel" good, even if you don't smoke the tires (which is easy to do BTW). The manual 392 has 3 more HP but, more importantly, 10 lb-ft more of TORQUE over the auto trans. This is because it is not as wide as the auto (but is longer). Therefore, Dodge can run a larger, more free-flowing exhaust. So, HP wins table discussions, but torque wins real races and gives you the drivability feel that you want.

    • @scottandrews4822
      @scottandrews4822 Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah, but Ford has more recalls than ANY manufacturer in history, so the Challenger is a better choice - plus it's mote comfortable and practical and-with the 392-just as fast as the 5.0, if not a little quicker on the street, where it's not perfect. Plus, more torque (485 lb-ft along with 488 HP in the manual Challenger; auto is 485HP/475TQ. This is because the manual has a narrower, but longer, gearbox thar allows for large exhaust to be installed) just FEELS good, whether or not you use it in a hooligan, tire shredding way! Another benefit is fuel economy. With more torque, you have to depress the GO PEDAL less to move the car.

    Beautiful car! I have a 19 RT scat pack. Challengers are beastly and menacing. Mustangs and camaros are too sleek and look weak. I love that challengers are big and heavy. Seats are very comfortable like a couch on wheels. Lots of practical room. The engine growl is just enough to notice but not overwhelming unless I floor it. My only complaint is the bottom side bolsters on the front seats. Getting in and out is a bit annoying since I try to avoid crushing the bolster each time.

Plus, it gives Dodge one reason that they don't need to deny a warranty claim in the UNLIKELY event that something does happen. They'll use the catch can as the sacrificial lamb. Nope, engines have run a long time in the past without them. The big hipo engine builders like Banks and others don't use them, so hmmmm probably not needed.

      @Nickowar Před rokem +1

      Only major highway trip I undertook in my manual Scat was from Jax, FL to SC, which at about 75mph, I'd manage around 18-19mpg. Now keep in mind, 6.4L will require 93 Octane ONLY, if I'm not mistaken, 5.7s still take regular. Although, in my case, had I settled with the 5.7, I would've eventually ended up in the 6.4, it's a curse lmao. Even now I find myself glancing at listings for manual Hellcats 🤣

      @@Nickowar Im kind of in an odd situation. I have a 09 300c heritage edition 5.7 hemi that has almost 200k on it (i drove 100k of it). So I ordered a 2023 brz that I only deposited a refundable 500$ if I dont like it or buying a 5year old or newer challenger 6mt. I live an hour from the blue ridgeparkway and mostly road motorcycles my whole life. So Im fighting with the adult and kid in me. Ive done all the work on my 300c mechanically and they are easy to work on. The subaru makes me question my choice. Why would I buy a car that shines on 1% of my driving vs a challenger that is comfortable for the 99% of my driving?

    The GT and Camaro were also lacking excess weight! Ended up with a Camaro SS. Have taken a passenger in the Camaro and fine for short trips. The Challenger T/A and Scat Pack were good test drives but they just felt too bulky/heavy to be much fun. Didn't feel like the car liked to be hustled. The Camaro SS though? Hell yes, way more sporty and nimble and beastly fast.

      Any difference between your T/A and a 392 scat pack ? As far as I can tell it's graphics pretty much isn't it ? I love the color combination of the green with black graphics. Do they still make the T/A that you know of ? I'll be looking to buy a challenger 6.4 litre in the next 3 weeks or so . Who doesn't love the power and sound of a hemi 😉 any advice when buying one of these cars or things to look for , problems that they might have ? Keep up the good work!!

    • @Carguy1999Reviews
      @Carguy1999Reviews  Před 3 lety +1

      The T/A is a package on top of the Scat Pack. The big additions are the graphics, a factory cold air intake, and Bilstein shocks on all four corners. The package is a little over $3k. You can get the Scat Pack with electronic Dampening suspension, but not the T/A. Are you looking new or used? In new cars, really the only thing to worry about is pricing. For used cars, make sure that there is no rod knock or any major signs of modification in the past. The 6.4L is pretty close to its limits as it is, and putting any more power-adding modifications without building up the motor is asking for trouble. Don't worry about damage to the front splitter, as the part is like $50 from Dodge. Another factor to look at, in both new and used, is the tires. Make sure they had good tread life left and no signs of burnouts. New cars shouldn't be a worry, but I have heard some stories of dealers joyriding cars and doing burnouts. Overall, they are pretty bulletproof. I have almost 24k miles on mine with no real major issues to speak of. If you want, DM me on Instagram @ Carguy1999_Reviews and I can help you through the process and answer any questions you may have. I work at a dealership too, so i can provide some details about the process if you want.
