    Thanks. This is great. I'm building the 1939 Packard, so I'm sure that everything you do here is the same that it will be on my build. I had built the semi tractor and didn't know how to do the grill, now I do !

      Glad that you found the show to be useful. A lot of the methods can be carried over to other model builds. Thanks for tuning in.

    Thank you, Kenny, for this model build. I will be trying this build in the near future. Right now, I am doing the Toys and Joys Tractor. Thank you again.

      One of these days Don, I would like to try the tractor. I may just have to do that one day. Thanks for tuning in. Good luck on your tractor build.

    Great to see you doing another model! I really enjoy watching you go the process and it will be neat watching you incorporate the laser to detailing this model 👍🤠

    Another model fantastic ... it's a slow methodical process which yields amazing results ... sometimes we all need to slow down and just enjoy the process.
    I'm in hospital again at the moment and doing exactly that, using the time to design and build (in my head) my new laser mill.
    Looking forward to the rest of the build 👍

    This is going to be a beauty! Are the railings made of brass wire! I placed an order today to Micro-Mark and almost tossed into the cart a miniature wire bender. It bends up to 1/8 inch diameter. I have a larger one, but not one that small. It is nice you show us the pitfalls to watch out for of drawings that don't include all the info. It is a great reminder! Enjoyed the first show of this project. Take care!

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      They will not be made of brass wire Michael but I like your train of thought. I may have to incorporate that into a future build. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your suggestions.

  • @scottmorris4914
    @scottmorris4914 Před rokem

    When I saw you working with the small parts, like the grill, it made me think about your laser, using it to cut. But I think that would take away for the fund of building it by hand. Good video, looking forward to the others.

    • @dwightl5863
      @dwightl5863 Před rokem +1

      Agree. Laser would also leave charred sides and be quite difficult to sand off. Also allowance's for material to be removed to get the correct final dimension of the grill pieces.

    • @scottmorris4914
      @scottmorris4914 Před rokem

      @@dwightl5863 I thought about the charred sides, andI didn’t mention it because that charring could be an enhancement, like making the grill stick out more.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem

      I like using my laser for embellishments but it will never replace my tools. I enjoy working with them too much. Thanks for tuning in. I hope you enjoy the series.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      It could definitely be done Dwight but by the time all of the clearances and sanding and figuring was done, I would have already had about 3 of them done the old fashioned way. LOL.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem

      It would definitely give it a little depth for sure.

    Glad to see you are doing another build. I built the 29 Ford truck (my first ever build), and enjoyed the process and spent over 100 hours completing it. Will watch this entire series and then decide if I will build this one.

    i will be interested in this one too although i made it a couple of years ago .. i still learn things from watching your stuff ... what i found interesting with this model (as with some others) is that the bits i thought would be easy turned out hard and the bit i kept putting off because i thought it would be difficult and dangerous (the blade) took less than 10 minutes of setting up and five minutes to make safely and easily.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      I too found the blade to be fairly easy. It was all a matter of making sure that you had proper support on the table saw. I hope you enjoy the series David. Thanks for tuning in.

  • @OlderThanFire
    @OlderThanFire Před rokem

    Thanks for another model build, aren't many who will do these detailed model on yt. I am also impressed you are using a table saw to cut some of that small wood chunk but moreso, cut it on film, many people say they did it, but don't show it and that helps a lot ( my Question is did you have the gripper tail piece which drops down to help push in use ? ) ; I have an engine block and am wondering how to cut it...

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      No Jeff. The tail piece really isn't needed to help push the stock through in this case. As long as your gripper pads are clean, they will provide plenty of gripping power to push your stock through with no problem. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.

  • @garygleaves4267
    @garygleaves4267 Před rokem

    BTW, the plans said to cut the cove on the blade at 16° and it wasn't even close to the correct angle. I ended up setting the angle at 22°.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      I cut mine (in a much later part of this series) at the angel specified and while it wasn't exactly like the plan, I found it to be a good looking blade and it worked well with the model. Thanks for chiming in with the angle you used and for tuning in to today's episode.

    I just finished building two of these for my grandsons. I was disappointed in the plans in that there is no explanation on where some things are glued or not glued.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem +1

      I found that as well Gary. This is especially true when it comes to the blade and blade holder section of the build. But then again, they are sold as plans, and not instructions. They assume a certain amount of knowledge on the woodworker's part but how can the woodworker be aware of what their intentions were with their design? A little side note or a little instruction with "do not glue this part" or "friction fit only" would definitely have been a help. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
