  • My toy designs and patterns have met some great success, so to continue our construction vehicle series, on this week's show, I design and make a toy bulldozer. This is a little more challenging than my other toy designs but still a very doable pattern. I hope you enjoy the show.

All you need to do is send me an email at kennye@acutabovewoodworkings.com and I would be more than happy to send a copy your way. Toys are toys Jim. Doesn't matter if it's a girl or a boy, they all like to play with toys. It's the adults that make toys for girls or boys by saying things like "he shouldn't play with dolls" or "she shouldn't play with dinky cars". It's a farce. Toys are toys. Just let the kids have fun. That's what it's all about. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words on the show and project.

    Ken! I am going to make one of these but I am going to try and make the track notches by using the table saw and cross cut sled; there's 3 flat sections on the track plans which will be no problem holding the flat parts on the sled and passing the sled over the correctly raised saw blade; It may be a bit trickier on the curved sections of the tracks but I think it can be done if I clamp the tracks with the pattern against the sled fence at the appropriate angle; If not, I will do it the way you suggest. Love the design of this one and look forward to seeing more of your designs in the future.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před rokem

      I would be interested to hear how you make out with that. If you are going to use the table saw for the track notches, I would suggest leaving the interior of the track solid until all the notches are cut. This will give you more clamping area and make the track more stable while being cut on the table saw. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in.

  • @michaelmarchione3408
    @michaelmarchione3408 Před 2 lety

    I wondered if you were going to pin the scoop. What a great toy to add to the rest. Is a grader next. You might need to make a lowboy trailer to haul the bulldozer around. You are going to have quite a collection a nice heavy equipment when you are done. Great design, great build! The toys are too nice to play with lol. On cutting the track, is it possible to drill out the bottom of the treads and then make straight cuts to that. Or would that make a mess or just not look right? I'm not sure. Just curious. Enjoyed, take care! How about a Formula 1 face car?

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 2 lety +1

      Drilling out the majority of the track recesses might be able to be done with a drill bit but they are small enough that you might just be causing more work and trouble for yourself than what is necessary. As for the design ideas, I love them all and I will add them to the list of toys to produce for the show. Thanks for the suggestions and for tuning in. It's always great to read your comments on the show.
