Getting Buzzed off Buckfast: MUNCHIES Guide to Scotland (Episode 1)

- čas přidán 17. 08. 2014
- In our opening episode, Charlet meets Glasgow locals who teach her all about age-old Scottish traditions. Think haggis, neeps and tatties, scurly, square sausage and dumplings made using your granny's knickers. She decides to ditch the white cloth pomp of Glasgow’s gourmet revolution to meet the infamous self-titled “Mad Chef”, aka Danny McLaren, who has developed a name for himself through brilliant and bizarre dishes like Irn-Bru-infused pulled pork sandwiches and Buckfast ice cream. Charlet ends up with a boozy bunch of Buckfast superfans, culminating with her burying her face in a 3000 calorie Munchy Box.

I can't drink Irn Bru now after 65 years, because the idiots refused to pay the sugar tax and replaced half the sugar with aspartame. It tastes like pish now. Customers said they'd happily pay the tax. They begged, they sent petitions...Barr destroyed their own iconic product. R.I.P Irn Bru.

The most redundant thing about this video is the sad, neglected, patch of salad in the munchie box.
*laughs in dead*
You miss it when it isn't there.
That wee salad is quality
@ArmchairWarrior without that tiny bit of green it's a disaster. Ruins it. All the rest has similar texture. Lettuce for crunch boyo 🖕

Iru Bru is also the only drink in the world to beat Coke into a number 2 position.
+Larry Bundy Jr not true, south America countries have a brand called "kola real" which is the leading market holder.
+George Smith I think he meant Cola, not Coke, the flavour instead of the brand.
+Rob Fraser kola real is not cola flavored
+Larry Bundy Jr finding you in all sorts of places ^^
+Larry Bundy Jr depends how you look at it. in Scotland, yes, but not in the UK as a whole. similarly Dr Pepper beats Coke in Texas, but not in the US as a whole.

I went to Scotland for a holiday 5 years ago (I'm Aussie) and we were in Peebles at a fish & chip shop and I was pressured into getting a haggis. Knowing what it was, I was a bit reluctant, BUT, I had that first bite and yeah, it was actually really tasty. Washed it down with an Irn Bru and I was feeling great.
Loved my time over there, the people were a bit insane but really genuine as well and yeah, 10/10 place would go again.

As a Canadian, I think we need to adopt this "Munchie Box"
It's not good for you. It's why scottish people look 20 years older than they actually are.
My favourite thing about the munchie box, is that they actually put a wee bit of lettuce and cucumber on the side, like it makes it healthy.
They're all so skinny. If I ate like a single french fry in that box I'll probably gain 10,000 pounds.

Grew up near Buckfast Abbey, we used to have the wine for communion when I was a choir boy, pretty horrible stuff I seem to remember! Back in the 60s and 70s and early 80s we used to have the Glasgow fayre in South Devon. Workers from Glasgow would come down for a weeks holiday every year... plod would also come down with them and Torbay would be over run. I think this where the taste for "Bucky" came from? In the 80s as a teenager I was well aware of the alcohol problems in Glasgow and the impact "Bucky" had on the streets... cheaper than Special Brew or Sweet Sherry, the street alcoholics previous tipple of choice.
that swearing guy is fucking priceless
This girl is a weapon.
*Woman, what is she in middle School?
Logik "a weapon" lmao she looks like a every white girl in California 😂😂
playing an advocate here, its not just the looks, you know, the accent, shes friendly, gentle, smart, can drink (certainly)...all things you usually dont have in mind thinking of a white girl from California I guess. Its not true of course, there are fantastic woman all over the world...but anyway, just saying.
But no Californian has the Surrey posho attitude with the Cali looks.

Glasgow is a dope city. Im a New Yorker and tbh, I miss the grittiness of the old NYC i grew up with as a kid in 90s and early 2000s and Glasgow has that. Good blue color city and all the good humour and fuckery that comes with it... love Glasgow Hail Hail up the Celts
