- In this exceptional episode, Action Bronson dines at St. John with its founders, chef Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver. St. John is a London restaurant known for revitalizing British cuisine in the early 1990s. We cover all parts of the restaurant with Trevor and Fergus, from the kitchen to the bar, so the need for a drink and some food by the end of the episode will be greater than usual. Enjoy!

Fergus Henderson is one of the greatest chefs of all time, and you can see how much respect Action speaks to him with. He really invented a whole new way of approaching British cuisine, making almost medieval sounding food like lamb's brains or pork trotter into something people want to eat. And as well as being delicious it's good for the environment and respectful to the farmer and the animal to use the entire thing, with no waste.
If you're wondering why Fergus doesn't really speak in the video, it's because he has Parkinsons disease, so struggles with that sort of thing now & isn't able to be in the kitchen every night any more, but St. John is still very much led by his creative vision. I was lucky enough to eat there once a couple of years ago and it was one of the best meals of my life. Every dish was something I'd never tried before and it was all insane.
I was curious about Fergus, so thank you for giving some context. A beautiful video showing a lot of love & respect!
Thank you for the insight.
Thank you for this comment
Thank you for this!!
I’ll always remember his episode with Bourdain! Brilliant man he is.
There is nothing like getting some quality food, and pressing play on an Action Bronson/FTD episode. Makes my day every time. Cannot thank this man enough for being who he is, and moving the way he does.
Nah fr bronson a g
@snow1366 I always tell my homies that if I was born and raised in New York, id want to move like Action. Respected everywhere, backdoor access to all the good spots. A man of culture.
@@matta406 facts bro I’m frm the UK so I’m glad he’s over here touring with food🤣👊🏼🇬🇧
Bro the other day I put on action Bronson preforming live while I cooked and it was the best. Meal came out great ! Lol
@marceloferrada1020 God Bless! He really is a vibe. The way he appreicates food is truly inspiring.
Made me cry seeing Fergus serve Action at 4.30. No words needed, you can see the passion in his gestures and eyes. Remember watching the Bourdain episode when he eats at St John many years ago. Made me sad thinking that Anthony Bourdain is gone and Fergus is this ill. Still cool to see all the young guys pay their respects to a true legend.
I’m about to undercook some bagel bites and watch this
hahahahahahaha
🙌😂🤣
lmao gang😂
I had the pleasure of working with Fergus and he is a sweetheart, always with a glass of fernet close by! sending love from Mexico City!
CDMX tiene unos de los mejores comida callejera del mundo "atáscate güero!" Jajajaja
Beautiful food, wonderful people of the culinary world, casual vibe, and Action Broson? That's more than perfect.
Love how polite and charming Action is, so humble and cool with all the people he met.
Gotta love that he bring Clovis with him this episode. Please, tell us that there will be more episode about London, maybe on more part?
The respect, the voiceover commentary, everything was terrific this episode
When Action was carrying the food from the kitchen and said "chef" then waited for Ferguson and co. to walk first was a beautiful thing. Love the respect. Everything Action is magic
And also Ferguson handing him the herb salad and salt with his fingers was wonderful.
This place is heaven! Absolutely awesome British food, from nose to tail.
Nothing better than seeing Action together with that one French guy from way back. Vibes are always immaculate!
It’s awesome seeing how culturally versatile Action is, he can kick it with anyone and still be himself
Right? Extremely underrated quality
An incredible meeting. Back in 2014 I was living in London and on one weekend saw Baklava do Blue Chips 2 at the Forum, and ate at my all-time favourite restaurant St J. Bizarre and very cool to now see AB and Fergus having lunch together. Big love boys!
Bronson doing English food justice. Thank you bro. (Live in the Périgord and hear so much food slander towards the UK and its just not true)
💯 Our food culture used to be pretty underwhelming, but for the last few decades we have been raising the game - and today, you can get some of the best food in the whole world here. People that still pretend it's not true are just depriving themselves of potential joy! Thank you, Bronson. 👊🏻
bud, I'd eat all of that food too but once you put beans on my breakfast plate, you're delusional.
I know where you are coming from! I live in the Valencian community in Spain, and the disdain they have towards English food is almost offensive hahaha! They don't understand we actually have some delicious cuisine!
@@albertoarmenta1518poor you.
Yeh cheese toast and spongcake dipped in booze... When can i come? 😂 Foh
I've probably watched every single one of your shows but the respect and appreciation you showed as St. John was incredible, I appreciate you and everything you're doing to show true British cuisine and food culture 10/10
Netflix give this man a series. get him a place in london for a month or two. i could watch your London videos for hours
Art is how we decorate space
Music is how we decorate time
Food is how Action decorates life
Fergus is a legend in the chef world. For me he is top 5 most influential chefs ever.
It's so awesome how you get along with everyone!!!!! You learn a little in every visit!!! As do I love it!!!!!
You know when Action has his soft, serious voice that the foods gonna slap. And especially when Clovis is calm 😂
the soundtracks of your episodes are just amazing. These videos are always the highlight of my week.
Thanks for providing these joyful experiences with us
You nailed it with the walk-in fridge pit stops aha. I work at a little Japanese restaurant. The cool room is where I go to collect myself.
This was on my bucket list restaurants to eat at for the longest time after seeing Tony featured it. Loved it when I finally went about 5 years ago.
I've watched many CZcams food videos about St John and this is probably the best I've seen.
Action, this was the best episode of FTD till date. Absolutely Smashed it!
LOve!
I love the respect Action shows in whatever kitchen he walks into, whether its to a street vendor or a world class chef like Fergus.
Probably your best video yet. I love the way you let the people and food speak for themselves.
This is one of my favorite CZcams channels ever 😊 such great vibes and food 😎
Stoked for every ep
The most serious I think I've ever seen Action. And potentially not stoned hahaha
Probably because Fergus has Parkinsons, and so giving up his precious energy to lunch with Bronson is an incredibly special thing. You can hear how much reverence Bronson has and it's brilliant
Fergus Henderson is one of those nigh on legendary figures in the kitchen (think Escoffier, Robuchon, Keller etc.) and St.John’s is a one of the most important restaurants in history.
For many chefs meeting him there is akin to meeting Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.
While visiting London last year we rolled into St. John late one night with no reservation and asked if we possibly get a table, they were friendly and gracious - sat us in the bar area gave us a menu and took care of us, such great food, great atmosphere and great service.
Clovis is top 3 humans of all time. Dude just doesn’t miss
This was great. Loved the respect all round.
cannot help but love action. respect is earned not given and in the age of celebs famous for nothing he is someone who deserves all the love and respect he gets. he is a joy to watch
Amen. Love my boy AB
I had the honor to have eaten at this establishment and it was an experience with such simple food but rooted with so much history. Wanted to drop and say shoutouts to the Spitalfields staff for taking in a lost wanderer feel at home. If I remember, they change the menu everyday. Anyone who has a chance should really drop by and experience the menu. I was waiting for this episode! Love it!
Forever the greatest to do it !! Could do another 20 seasons and i would still be watching.
This was a pleasure to watch
ty for showing the world these masterpieces legendary artist
There is levels to this cooking game man hot damn 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Where's the cakes that were in the thumbnail though? 🧐
this show keeps getting better!!
Nothing better in life then to share a great meal with good people ❤💯
Love this. I had that parsley dish back in the day it is a classic dish
Always appreciate actions view of my own country, special perspective
Clovis is back!! What about go to Paris and give it another spin Action?
One of the best episodes ever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You leveled up in the game with this FTD 😮💨🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
We need more like this.
Love this channel 💐
Action Bronson just letting us know about his cooking knowledge. Love the technical cooking episodes
This took me back to the days of Bourdain. Thanks brotha Action 💥
Amount of respect shown should tell you a lot about Chef Fergus and St.John 🙌🏼🙌🏼 probably one of the best and humbling FTD
Bronson kills it again. ❤ awesome and beautiful food.
AB narrating this video is as beautiful as those food there eating. Amazing 🤩
Fergus Henderson is a LEGEND.
BEST PRODUCTION Since the YT move! My man, incredible!
I’m gonna be traveling Europe in December, I’m beyond excited to go to all these places thanks to you Bronson. Salut.
Hope you have a blast. Make sure to pack a jacket. 😊
@@AC-wz9txa waterproof one
the way he tenderly assisted you with dressing the bone marrow was delightful
Bronson is a MASTER at talking from his behind 😆
Ferguson Henderson is a legend, and a GOAT, Bronson is the man for recognizing this great and (unfortunately) dwindling talent. Everybody should donate to a Parkinson’s disease charity, because that bastard disease is robbing us of some great talent.
I absolutely love your energy and reverence for this icon and istitution.
St. John Bread&Wine is my favorite place on earth, really craving that Welsh rarebit again now too
You know it's good when Action is willing to sit at the table
facts mans is nearly always standing
😂😂thr gorgeous man trever. Without fail im always laughin thru all of this lunchin experiences
Damn, is it just me or is Dr Baklava looking way fresher in this video? Like... shining. This was the episode I was looking for from the british tour. I appreciate street food and I appreciate innovations but when you're going back to the meats, to the bones, I am in heaven. And all the memes aside there IS an actual british cuisine. Props to the crew and to the man himself.
Trevor and Fergus …..the Culinary Penn and Teller
This made me LOL
Fergus Henderson is a culinary British icon. Him and Heston Blumenthal are two chefs I would enjoy cooking with. I hope you picked his brain. With my herbals and a nose to tail carnitas I'm making ✊🏾
blumenthal bro
@@schweinerwinkler1633 it was one of those blooming mfs
People that hate on British food need to look at THIS! This shit is art!
shoutout bronson keeping us happy during ruff times
Need moreeeee! Love you so much need you in Charlotte!!
Much anticipated
Been meaning to get to St John's for years...one day, I will get there!!!
Was among friends with Furgus at French House ... great video work ❤
Such respect shown from Action towards Fergus we respect all your videos as well Action hope you no that
The crust on that board from the grilled cheese 😂😂😂
We need Action & Clovis in Oslo for a summer time joy! Maemo for the high end & Nektar wine bar for some corner store type excellency. Lots of great vibes in Oslo!
Very authentic first class food and service keeping the culture alive, from the other side of the pond keep reaching for the stars..
love the end cream puff shot with the steamy hot fudge
looking great action
Wonderful. Thank you Mr. Wonderful
“and I LOVE TO LUNCHHHH” 😍😍😍🤣🤣🤣
Many of those offal things i would only like to try at St. John and the respect shown to the team there was great.
I went to St. john and before I went I knew I would love it because I like offal and off cuts and gamey flavours. It completely blew my expectations out of the water it is best english restaurant I have ever been to and would encourage everyone to visit it
I had exactly the same lunch a month ago at St.Johns. It was amazing.
How much per person?
respect and honesty is what bronson is about
oh man. I was salivating. European cooking is rustic, simple, and fresh. Farm to table'ing it since the beginning of time. Im Italian-I grew up eating tripe, livers, kidneys, ox tails, homemade pastas. All the flavor came from the garden. No preservatives.
How can I get to go on an adventure like this one with you Action?!?!?!! Sending good vibes all the way from Vegas! 👍🏼
Wow, Action, you respect those men, no pretending, it's obvious, sincere, honest. Man, I'd love to be there with you, having a power lunch. Cheers,
10:27 old boy spaced out 😂
I think i would cry being around such amazing food
This maybe the best episode of all time
I've had the pleasure of going to St John a few times as I don't live too far away and it's been exceptional each time. It's a shame you don't get to see Fergus out and about as much as he was in the 90s/early 00's but for obvious reasons due to the parkinsons. For anyone that goes you cannot leave without having the bone marrow on toast, it's so good we've ordered it twice in a meal before. Definitely try their other smaller restaurant in Shoreditch and their St John Bread & Wine in Neils Yard as well if you get the chance.
You can see a more animated Fergus in past videos with Marco Pierre White and Anthony Bourdain as well, not too hard to find - he's truly a genius when it comes to the kitchen.
Action drinking Matassa and eating at Saint Johns is the vibe for all time.
amazing
Amazing stuff😤
A beautiful tribute
Never envious of anyones life, but this man LIVES
More footage of Action in the kitchen cooking, please! 😃
I had heard about St. John's desserts from a friend who said they were 100% the best donuts she had ever had. I hope to go here someday.
You know Action respects being in this environment by the fact he is actively sitting down the entire time throughout this rather than his typical manner of standing.
I’ll vouch for that bar menu 😊
If you want to experience British food one needs to go to this restaurant. These are craftsman of food.
