Today I got a call from my relationship manager.. Offering lifetime credit card.. with zero charges and limit of 2 lacs...she said you'll get access to airport lounge and that became her focal point for selling it.. I just said thank you and not required..

You are right. Earning a few hundred rupees through credit card points is not going to make one rich. In fact there is a value of time which is spent in doing all these nonsense. It's like being penny wise, pound foolish. However having one or two credit cards is not bad. Using the same is not necessary unless it's for convenience like auto debit, lounge access etc.

I retired as joint director and my boss retired as Director from a Punjab govt office had taken credit card indiually from a bank nearly 21 years ago and had closed these after few years . Inspite of clearing dues still we get notices for some payment . We very senior officers have very bad experience of credit card and had strictly advised our children who are on top posts to avoid credit cards and they have none .
