- Due to frequent crashing and some tricky decisions, I had to use a FAQ for this one. I've beaten it before without a FAQ, but figuring that out took a while.
(This is an 800 MB file, I wonder if I should've split it up.)

Wow what a game. It wasn't half-bad and the acting was surprisingly good :D It still had the Star Trek charm and had a good story. Thanks for this, now i just gotta watch the Klingon Academy one now.
Has Alshoff done a KA LP?
Darthpathfinder I never owned Klingon Academy. To be fair, that hasn't stopped me in the past (I never owned the Chekhov's Lost Missions CD either, but, having played that, it probably wasn't worth the extra money).
I did play the demo of Klingon Academy at one point. I remember trying to break out of a tractor beam or something.
I like how M'Giia yells her thoughts while everyone talks normally lol...Those damn Andorians :p
Uhura did that sometimes too.

OK, I finally got to see how this game was supposed to end! Excellent as I played this over and over and the D7 always winded up diving into the sun. It's too bad that Forrestor and his crew haven't appeared in any Star Trek movies as this is a very good crew, imho. Thanks so much for uploading this :-)

I Have Only Made It To The Point When The Maclanti Throws Torpedos At Me And Always Messed It Up.
@Gary Cleveland - If he's in command school, he's probably had some experience and service time before returning to Starfleet Academy for training. Likely he's finished at least one tour of duty and reached the rank of lieutenant before being assigned to command.

I have been wanting to see this part of Starfleet Command for years after I read about the 'true' ending of the game.
Unfortunate I no longer have the hardware or the patience to go through the game all over again.
@42Cleve Maybe he was already an officer/enlisted and this is a form of Officer Candidate School (or necessary for promotion to command ships).

Makes me wonder if McClanti studies helped make Data's positron brain. When I beat this in 2002, I locked my weapons on the D7's warp pods and or impulse to cripple it before it could get too far. Fun game. I wonder what Vanda's actress looks like without all the makeup.
I'm not sure. The player's final rank is based on their class score (a combination of FMV decisions and simulator performance), but access to the Meclanti mission is dictated by completing the FMV sub-plot. I've never tried deliberately scoring low.
Yeah, I've gotten the Meclanti mission. I've even beaten it. What I haven't done is get that boarding cinematic. Perhaps, for when I make another attempt, I can see if following your playthrough gets me better results than I've managed in the past. Thanks, and catch you later.
I did it! I got promoted to the rank of Lt. Cmdr! I also completed this mission as well! I chose the right dialogue with Brady. I also forgot to target the planet when the McClanti was shooting. That's why it attacked me in the first place. Oh well.
@MasterJediKyleKatarn You might have to aim for a desert as well. I set the phasers to "disable" just in case, though.
There are targetable bases/cities on planets. Probably best to avoid shooting the orphanage.
Alshoff Yeah. I set the phasers to disable. I wonder if there's a glitch in the game or if it's something else. You were also right about the interaction cutscenes with crew. i didn't choose the right dialogue with Brady.
I set phasers to stun, but I don't know if that affects the mission. I just assumed the Klingons would get angry if I bombarded their planet.
I can't seem to complete this mission as the Klingons keep warping in the second I fire on the planet, even with my phasers set to disable.
Youd think the game creators would use the correct bridge layout for the Enterprise A
Some of us quite liked that film, it's my fav of al lthe Trek films. :)
Crew scores may be a factor. Those are affected both by cutscene interaction and performance in the simulator. (There are ways to barely pass the missions and get a lower score.)
Not helping Sturek out at the very least eliminates the final mission.
Last time I played it an the first time I flew that ship was back in 1998!!!!! That was before I learned it won't work on newer computers.
I guess due to budget, they had to stick with the bridge from the refit Constitution that was seen in the first three Star Trek movies.
They also reverted the crew back to the academy jumpsuits even though they had graduated and were seen wearing the duty uniforms. Probably done in order to keep the existing animated sprites.
I have read somewhere that cadets that graduate with honors start with the rank of lieutenant
Alshoff Yeah. I noticed that brady's performance was at 80% When I watched this video, it was 87%. I guess I chose the wrong dialogue during the cut scenes.
@Alshoff Possibly, but he would most likely have already been an officer of at least the rank of lieutenant. In the real Navy, cadets don't become senior officers coming out of the academy.
this game has worked across every platform of Windows since 95. Amazing game even to this day. But this Mcclantie mission is complex...I am not sure about the power settings required to avoid the Mcclantie from going hostile
Impulse power?!? Right out of dry dock? Lol, How did this guy get promoted again?
I wonder what happened to David Forester and his crew after this game
I always wondered too. It would be cool if there was a novelization that picked up after this where Forrester still has his old crew serving with with him.
I like to think they got to have a super successful Starfleet career nearly on par with the Enterprise crew and (personally) that David Forrester and Vanda M'giia ended up together with a human/Andorian kid, but that's just me.
For some reason, I never got the scene with boarding the Enterprise. Is it contingent upon making Lt. Commander, like an Easter Egg?
@lighting1443 The game kept crashing. I've played it before without a FAQ and it would take a lot of guessing. Meaning it would take a lot of failures and repeats of the mission.
What's posted is already a pasted together version from failures and crashes.

I'm having trouble with this mission. When i arrive in the system where the Mcclanti is, it attacks me. I did do the same thing you did in the video when the Mcclanti shoots at the planet and then you did. Did I miss something?
Theres no way a cadet would graduate as a Lieutenant Commander.
I have selected to work with Sturek EVERY time it was offered to me, yet in the cut scene before graduation, it still says that we didn't finish the simulation....what am I missing? Can someone tell me?

Red Wulf Run the game in a virtual machine? It should be possible in VMWare, Virtual PC, or VirtualBox. You'll need a Win95 or Win98 ISO and possibly some newer video drivers.

I never got promoted to the rank of Lt. Cmdr. Only. Lt. I can't figure out what I did wrong.
Sooo, he went from a Cadet - to Lieutenant Commander - and then they refer to him as lieutenant - when he should have graduated as an Ensign. Star Trek logic. If only real military academies worked like that.
Also they all graduate wearing regular trek uniforms, then in the next scene get back into their cadet uniforms even though they are obstinately regular officers now. Haha
