Based on what Cmdr. Rotherot said in the briefing cutscene, I speculate that they wanted to use the TOS Constitution for that mission but didn't have the time to build or implement one. One of many signs that this game was rushed into release.
Yea, i remember this scenario, it's a refference to the original series' "Balance of Terror" episode. The enterprise fought against a romulan bird of prey that had plasma torpedoes.
Man... what are doing with me... When I was a teen I had what now I know was a Incomplete version of this game. There was only 4 mission that I played for years whishing there was more. But that time there was not the internet and information of today. So I was just sad that the game was short. Watching these scenes I become a mix of wanting to find and play everything and sadness that I had the incomplete game...
I've seen engines get damaged to the point of drifting, but only on the player's ship. Unfortunately, I was drifting toward a planet when that happened. Barely made it out.
constitution class had really bad shields :D few hits from klingon disruptors and your shield were gone.. remember playing the bridge commander where shields could take tons of pounding until you started to take any major hull/equipment damage
The ship will explode before that. Unfairly, NPC ships won't explode even if they hit the planet. I've tried by disabling them and throwing them at planets. It just doesn't work.
Those aren't as bad odds as you'd think. In the TNG episode Heart of Glory, three renegade Klingons destroyed a Battle Cruiser, presumably a K't'inga-class cruiser with what was basically a ship not much better than a garbage scow and had very primitive armament.
These Levels Seem Like The Past! On The TV Series Of Star Trek Kirk Fought A Romulan Just Like This Level. I Wounder If A lot Of These Missions Are Actually The Past.
I wished they used the TOS Enterprise for this mission

_Balance of Terror_ is one of my favorite episodes of TOS hands down.
Mine too. Such a great episode.

7:00 Frank Welker on Deck!
Heh, the Music around 7:24 when it played the Cutscene of the Rom BOP blowing up the outpost sounded very Star Wars-ish.
Wow he is now a " Probie, " U.C. under cover agent. Talking about " Officer Training."
from memory the game was not programed with the pre-refit Constitution class.
man i remember i loved the cheat on this game when you played as a vessel that can cloak, if you typed C A R you could fire while cloaked
That reminds me of when I played Armada. I'd try to disable an enemy's engines and make them drift to a black hole.
Great game.
Freddy Jones is manning Outpost 4! Jinkies!
When I played this mission I never saw the Klingons; I didn't even know they were in it.
If outpost 2 was decimated, shouldn't there have been 90% of the original life signs?
Thanks for this

I like the vids!

A few of the missions are based on the TV series or movies.
Yup Roger Wilco
@Clonetrooperkev Yes, they did. I believe the crew's score is a little higher from cheating.
Also, if they were supposed to have the specs of the original ship, how come they had the post-refit (aka ST:TMP) nacelles?
The ship in this misison is suppossed to be older design, but looks just the same to me like before. This always confused me in the game.
Why is this 40 year old guy a cadet?
He entered when he was 39?
The ship will explode before that.

Garbage scow vs battle cruiser? Might work if you have a cloaking device. And the luck of a certain janitor.

It's a training simulator.
Um . . . they passed though? They beat the Kobayashi Maru right?
