- Time for a book haul!
Because I want to diversify my nature nonfiction book shelf,
because my book club made me buy it,
because others recommended them,
because I previously loved the author,
because I want to read more translated fiction,
because I can't leave a well sorted book shop empty-handed.
Which books sound most interesting to you?
"Im Bauch der Königin" sieht ja phantastisch aus! Und klingt auch intererssant, ich glaube, da schau ich mal, ob es meine Bibliotherk hat! Du hast ein paar spannend klingende Titel gehauled, bin gespannt auf deine Besprechungen!
Außerdem: Dein Tattoo auf dem linken Arm ist wunderschön!
I think Macht is such a powerful book. Imo the author handles the topic really well. Read it lately and it will be one of my books of the year for sure.
What a fab haul with loads of books/ authors I am not familiar with. I do want to read 'Headshot'. xx
Headshot is a really “cool” book. You know, one of those books that you read and think, I wish I had come up with that concept for a book 😎
"What we want" sounds really interesting - soooo - make sure to read it soon, so that I know if it's worth trying
Sounds good right?! Especially as you also mentioned Maybe You Should Talk To Someone in your recent video I also had to think of you 😊
While listening to your book presentations and making notes on possible hauls for myself (The Home Place, Catching Teller Crow...) I get quite distracted by your dog in the background.🙂 Never saw such an happily relaxed animal😊😊😊
Aw 🥰 it’s quite a false impression, my dog has bundles of energy most of the time! I am so glad a few books grabbed your fancy despite the distraction 😁
If you are looking for nature oriented diverse books I would recommend unbowed by wangari mathaai, it is also political, but there is quite a lot of nature too. Also, I did read michel the giant and quite enjoyed it. It is kind of naive but also interesting for sure
I’ve mostly been reading literary fiction this year but memoir is my favourite and I think the next two books are memoirish, I hope so.
I so often claim that I don’t read many memoirs and then more sneak in than I would expect! What’s next on your memoir reading list?
@@fayesparallelstories Next up are Street Without a Name by Kapka Kassabova and How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair. I’m really looking forward to both of them. Memoirs really pull me in.
A nature nonfiction I was reccomended is "The Jourrny of the Pink Dolphins" by Sy Montgomery.
The only short (probably) easy book origonally written in Dutch is "Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank
Other shortish Dutch books on my radar are "The Pellican" by Martin Driessen (short comedy), "Bonita Avenue" by Peter Buleada, "The Discomfort of Evening" by Merieke Rijneveld (that's a darker one), one you might be into more than me is "Diaturbamces of the Mind" by D. Draaisma
I've been buying a hideous amount of books and need to start working through the pile before getting more.
Ah yes, I can believe I have never read a book by Sy Montgomery!
We did read Anne Frank’s Diary in school and The Discomfort if Evening I have heard mentioned positively a few times, although I am a bit hesitant as everyone seems to find it extremely depressing. Disturbances of the Mind sounds extremely good, it seems to be a nonfiction book (?) but maybe I would actually find it easier reading nonfiction in a foreign language!
Good luck with your piles of books. At the very least your reading speed allows for lots of book buying 😄
