- A new bookish format! My mum was the one who taught me how to read. Years later she remains one of the biggest readers in my life. We both enjoy reading nonfiction and fiction. So this is us pairing two books on a theme.
In this video we discuss Friendaholic by Elizabeth Day and Recitatif by Toni Morrison.

whoo hoo ❤
Ohhh thank you for putting friendaholic back on my radar because I was so interested in that one!!! Going to try finding myself a copy! ❤
Let me know what you think! I bet it would also make a great audiobook, given the personal relationships!
I would have loved being part of the Friendaholic discussion, because I agreed sometimes with you and sometimes with your Mum and sometimes I had a third opinion. So interesting!
I like Toni Morrison's writing, but I haven't read this short story yet.
I would love to see you reading a fiction and a nonfiction book about climate change.
Ooh excellent suggestion reading books on climate change - thank you! One of my favourite things about discussing books with others is that it so often enables disagreement voiced in a kind way, so I am really glad you appreciated our differing views - and even had a few extra 😃
I loved this discussion format and look forward to more in the future
Yippie 😊 that makes me so happy! Any themes you would especially like to see?
@@fayesparallelstories I suppose the most obvious one would be mother daughter relationships and it would be interesting to see how you both come at that from different perspectives.

This is such a cool concept! I wish my mother would talk to me about books like that 🥲 I am actually planning to read my first ever Toni Morrison in March (Song of Solomon) - let's see how I like her writing style, I've heard lot of different things about it. And thanks for the discussion about the parts of Friendaholic that you did not like - this is actually something that will keep me from reading the book because I would be even more annoyed than you were 😅 Topics I would like to see you discuss: work - education - climate change
A birdy told me you were going to read that book 😇 and yes- she is pretty cool 😄. I love your suggestions for themes! Thank youuu 😍
I wish I had anyone to talk to about books like that. I love Song of Solomon. It’s full of drama, tragedy, myth and magic.
@@lindaleehallyou are in the right place in that case 😊 Maybe I should also try Song of Solomon then… I really struggled with the language and format of The Bluest Eye (it actually made me feel like I wasn’t smart enough 🙈) so I am hesitant with Toni Morrison.
we could do a triple buddy read 😊@@fayesparallelstories
