I once had a parent complain on the phone to me about the Black Assistant Principal suspending her child. She said she was glad she was talking to me and not her. I then calmly told her that I was the only Assistant Principal at the school. She said, "you can't be, my child told me that woman is Black!" I responded, " I'm the only Assistant Principal here, ma'am. And, yes. I am Black." She was so shocked that she hung up the phone and came to the school to see for herself! People are ridiculous.

I worked for a mortgage counseling service and a Caucasian woman called because she was about to loose her home. She talked to me about what led up to the issue for about 2 hours. I understand the one thing he said so much like when you're having a conversation with someone and you stop talking for a few minutes but you keep thinking about the topic in your head and your train of thought on the matter veers in a different direction and you say the thought you have out loud to the person but they haven't heard any of the in between thoughts so they think you're insane. I'll give an example. Let's say you talk to someone you live with about the kitchen faucet leaking and you both agree you need to get it looked at soon. Then you sit there quietly and think about what it would look like if you could see the inside of a faucet when the water was running. Then you think about the fact that the tap water you drink every day was at one point sitting in a water tower. Then you wonder if they ever clean the inside of those things. Then you convince yourself that they must for your own comfort and wonder what kind of salary that person makes. You then say this out loud but all your friend knows is the last thing you said was "yeah we should get that sink checked out next week" and then sat in silence for ten minutes before going "how much does a water tower janitor make a year anyways?"

I remember hearing about this book called "Boys Like Girls Who..." and basically it was meant to target girls who are envious of the other people or thought they were inferior.
