The original is original but am surprised why people are saying Neeti Mohan is copying, was not good enough. She was bang on as a performer performing live, I would buy tickets to and am surprised at how Neeti Mohan could sing this good as I thought she has a very subtle voice and a less range. Neeti Mohan is a performer! She can sing & dance. In fact, she started her career as a dancer. She was one of the winners of a singing competition called Channel V Popstars. The four winners formed a band called Aasma. Her best work is in BOMBAY VELVET. 🙂

Thiruda thiruda is a masterpiece album. Period. You can go for any song. It was way ahead of its time in 93. It could be ahead of its time if released today
When you say it is ahead of its time, are you saying the music made these days is somehow better than what was made 20-30 years ago leaving out the technological aspect ? In fact, the reverse is true as the quality of music has been degenerating since the 90's --- be it film music or other forms of music such as Pop, Rock, Jazz etc.

If I tell you 1 of the song was a rip off an English song that was very popular at that time. There was also another rip off in Karuthama of a very popular English song around the same time. I am ARR fan having watched his first ever concert that was held in Malaysia back in 1996. If you didnt already know that was his very first concert held anywhere. Still his fan. We used to listen to this English songs on radio and bowling arenas in malls back in 90s so it was easily identifiable as rip off to us. I am still an ARR fan since I was a kid till now. This Rahman soundtrack from 1993 is way ahead of its time. You guys should definitely go to his concert if he comes to LA again. The best part other than the visual spectacle and the performances is him rearranging his songs for the concert, so good. Been to three of them.
Finally you got to what made AR Rahman really announce his arrival on the scene back in the days beyond south. This sound also inspired a generation of new musicians like Amit Trivedi. The entire album for the movie Thiruda Thiruda has no parallel in world music! The raw creativity of AR rahman on creating sounds was unmatched and we cannot say enough of his singers like Anupama who rendered the original. Now you can die educated 😀

Actually the recording of the original song is just as good. ARR is renowned for the quality of recording and sound in his songs ever since his debut. That's one of the things that set him apart. The singer of that is Anupama. She's amazing. Try it out guys.
It was a lifetime experience for me, I was there and lived every second of the concert and this one was one of the best performance of the concert. I so wish to time travel again to relive the moment again.

' ThirudaThiruda ' was the first ever movie album (in any indian language for that matter) bought and promoted by MagnaSound music Pvt Ltd. 80's/90's people must be aware of MagnaSound , which was a high-end music company of that time, who were into marketing and promoting English albums and mostly Hindi pop and gazals,..but never ever they ventured into movie music ( not because it's a different turf for them,.but their hands were full with non Film music and they were contended doing with what they are good in). but when ARR made ' Thiruda Thiruda ' MagnaSound knew someone has arrived and wanted to take the honours to be the official launch pad with their music company....as they say the rest is history....☺
