From experience, I was also a phone repair technician for a company called Puls, mobile repair service (a service like Lyft but for phone repairs). I fixed most androids and all iPhone 4 to 6 plus. The problem is buying parts back then when they were super expensive. This was a tough business. $60/iPhone 6. $140/iPhone 6 plus. I had to waste $300-$400 per week and break even by the end of week and buy more parts with that money. Plus buying batteries, charging ports, cameras and other. Each job was a $30-35 x 3 a day if you’re lucky. Each model has different parts. You never know what people needed repair.
The problem is dead inventory (maybe a new model comes out or decrease in demand in that model), no business, competition with other technicians to get a customer, the LA congested traffic and traveling costs.
This is more of a side gig than a full time job and I use to put a lot of effort.
If this guy was able to do it, props for him! I couldn’t do it. Waste of money and time! Maybe I’ll run a repair shop one day as an investor and make other people run it for me.

Preston Matheny it’s worst and not easy at all because iPads are bigger than iPhone and the adhesive is stronger same for Samsung tablets and I can fixed a Samsung tablet in like 10 minutes when i was 12 last year and it takes him 20 minutes to fix an iPhone common that’s ridiculous it takes my like 5 minutes

not to brag but ever since i was a little boy in elementary i had this wild obsession in wanting to know how electronics work and what they had inside i would disassemble anything i had even if it was a toy gun and see how it work and stuff when i got to middle school i started fixing my own tv because growing up we didn't had the money to replace stuff just like that so i had to fix my own stuff i started fixing TVs for family members and when i got a phone for the first time i was amazed by it and had to see what it was inside and true out the years after 7th grade i never got to fix any of them but getting to high school i would practice every single day after school with all of my phones i had true out the years i never threw them away i had them in a little box under my bed and I've gotten better when touch phones came out and the era of the flips ended i was already good with the flip phones fixing then and had a new challenge. im 22 now and i still dismantle phones and anything electronic for fun and to discover nee stuff i can fix any phone. this guy has a nice story. but i stared fixing my own stuff not because i wanted to but because i need it too. guess everyone learns the same thing by different circumstances.

I bought a Samsung 8+ off of eBay about a year ago, that had a crack in the screen. It wasn't too bad, but I wanted to get it replaced, so it would be perfect. I sent to someone in upstate New York. One of those places that sell phone repair services on eBay. It was 40 or 50 bucks, I can't remember exactly. The phone worked perfectly, Just had a cracked corner. The first thing they did was take a tool, I think it's called a spudger, and shove it under the front glass and totally destroy the digitizer. Then they told me I would have to pay an additional $275 to get it fixed. I asked them how it got damaged and they said it must have happened during shipping. I told them I've worked for the USPS and FedEx. When I package something, you can run over it with a truck and not damage it. I finally got them to send it back, which is when I could see what they had done to it. It was trashed. Ebay support was completely useless in helping and refused to even try. BUYER BEWARE !
