    This is definitely worth a try for $8 rather than some kits that go for $40+. Thanks for showing! But the air compressing and little film sheet seemed pointless, I'd just put the resin on and leave it under UV light for an hour, then wipe off the excess.

    Thanks for doing this video. I am really good with software but a dope when it comes to doing things with hardware. I bought a repair kit from amazon for 9 bucks and then used it 2 days after I dropped the phone and had a large divit in lower corner with spider web to other corner. It sealed the "hole" area and seems to have done a great job of stopping further damage (provided it is not dropped again).

      Paytton McKenzie epoxy in a vacuum chamber is best for something like that. That's hard to come by though. You should just try spreading epoxy over the screen to seal up some of those cracks.

    Hey Trent my galaxy s8 screen and back panel are lifting up. I think the adhesive is loosening up? Is there any cheap method for me to repair it myself or do you suggest taking it to someone to fix it? The screen lifts up barely but it is an annoyance and I can lifting it up with my fingernail quite easily, I was thinking I could maybe work in some sort of stronger adhesive? If so what would you suggest?

    Your exactly right. I just accidentally smashed my gallaxy android and it still worked but the screen was totally shattered and felt weak.l watched your video saying the first repair was with super glue and it made total sense.l then used super glue gel and trowels it on with a box cutter blade ,kind of thick on the most shattered and let cure.Then l scraped the middle to the glass and got the clarity back and left the top and bottom (most shattered and weak)with a layer of glue strongbacking the worst part of the damage.it feels great and strong and l still see some cracks,but l got my phone back with integrity.Heck l am not going to change the glass or get another phone! That windshield repair kit is total bull....thanks for saving me lots of money and stress!

    I thought of the same thing and searched youtube and found your video. My recommendation would be to completely remove the old glass with playing cards and a heat gun, and after cleaning really well, use this epoxy resin under the glass, put in a vacuum sealing bag like what you use for food, and suck all the air out. This repair would be really useful instead of using that crappy double sided tape that comes with the replacement glass. I'm thinking a lot of people don't have a dedicated vacuum chamber and pump, but it would probably work with a food sealer vacuum gadget. If you had a vacuum pump like what is used for HVAC work, it would take ALL the air out.

    tried this before on a busted phone I had laying around. My advice is, dont do it. It only slightly improves the phones appearance while the screen is off. When you turn it on touchscreen works just fine, but the cracks are still there. I even think that it made the cracks more noticeable (when the screen is on). If you really wanna get rid of cracks on your screen just replace the damn thing, or you're better off dealing with it as it is.

      HOLLYWOOD DV, Trent didn't do anything backwards. If you reexamine closely the kit instructions Trent displayed in this video, he DID, in fact, follow the instructions as written. There's another CZcams video (from Steve and Senda) that shows the entire Blue Star instruction sheet in the first ten seconds of the video.
      Regardless of what technique you might employ as an auto tech, the instructions back Trent up. Nothing in the instructions indicates a requirement to plunge the resin into the crack first.

      Not sure why I'm just seeing this, but thanks for the idea. I'll look it up and see if I can make a video with polarized film.

  • @eddieshittie4368
    @eddieshittie4368 Před 2 lety

    well clearer than super glue is like everything. Because if i crack my screen i want that crack to disappear. The screen is already broken why do i care if its more durable with super glue but you can still see that its clearly broken still? Makes no sense. And if you fix with super glue then you are stuck and cant go back and use the windshield shit. So i would use the windshield kit the repair makes the crack less visible.

  • @jamesmckissack5740
    @jamesmckissack5740 Před 5 lety +1

    But you're super glue only had a small pit and very few breaks . this one here look like you hit it with a damn baseball, is it raining out there you're wet a whole different situation. I'm not saying that you aren't right with the super glue , but the pits weren't even the same . I just watch them back to back as well as your nail polish and your 5-minute epoxy that was 20 minutes not 5. I Got 5 minute epoxy and by golly it's hard in 5 minutes

    • @TrentPierceProjects
      @TrentPierceProjects  Před 5 lety
