The System is an American synthpop duo consisting of vocalist/guitarist Mic Murphy and seasoned session keyboardist David Frank. The band was founded in 1982 in New York and backed up by Paul Pesco on electric guitar and Kris Khellow - keyboards, synthesizers. Sometimes the group is referred to as an "emotio-electro" band because of their hi-tech, synthesizer-driven sound mated to passionate vocals and sensitive lyrics. - Hudba

Thanks for recognizing the synths cause I truly believe they can make a song special. Just got into an argument with someone about how the executive producer is the one that gets the credit for the music. Palex, Soul to Soul was and still is one of our best. We wanted it to be first single from R and R but our label head at the time told us she didn't like the "soul" music reference in the title. 3 months later she released Soul 2 Soul the English band. We always suspected that was the true reason. In any case the song lives on as music does:) Love won't Wait is a really cool musical entity which we cowrote with guitar player Paul Pesco. He also cowrote I Wanna Make You Feel Good and Promises can Break and I'm Dangerous. These were the only cowrites we did on the Atlantic Albums. We worked so hard on an of this music 24/7 and we continue to do that to this day with the music we are writing now although it's more like 23/6 now...HAHA. thx again. I'll forward your comments to Mic and Paul too

But they’ve had this type sound well before well before the New Jack Swin era. … also Rafel Cameron and Hubert Eaves ( D train ) were very similar in this Funktronic type of genre.

I really miss this smooth R&B style from the 80s and 90s; wish we could bring it back permanently!
If you haven't, check out the synthwave genre. Its where the hipper kids of the 2,000's have resurrected the synths and drum machines of the System's era and given it a whole new lease of life. Check out a YT poster called Electronic Gems he has the biggest site for the sound.

Mercy! It is a joy to listen to this heavenly, beautiful, timeless groove right here. Afterwards, I will then go listen to it again along with the entire album on CD. To The System, I just truly adore, love, and appreciate you so much. Been feeling really sad since my Father recently passed. He was a DJ from the 70's, so of course we always played The System on vinyl. Thank you for helping me smile with your musical gifts. Such incredible music legends.

David Frank is really wicked on the synthesizer. It really would have been something if him and Herb Lane ......another wicked Gentleman on the synth and keyboards of GQ were ever to collaborate.

the bass line is genius because Dave rarely plays the same pattern in each measure of the song it’s close to sounding like the same bass line but there’s little nuances in these bass patterns...
