With the recent reveal that Halo Infinite IS INDEED SET ON ZETA HALO, I figured there was no time better than the present to dive into the FULL history of Zeta Halo, the ring ONI refer to as 'The most mysterious Halo of all', Pre-Halo Infinite. Zeta Halo/Installation 07 is easily my favourite location in the entire Halo universe and I still can't quite believe we're getting a game set on it - AN OPEN WORLD GAME of all games. I can't put into words how excited that simple fact makes me lol.

Any hope for 343 using Halo's lore to it's full extent died with their handling of the Didact.
The flood history on this ring is deep. Imagine roaming around and then finding a portal. You go through and come out inside the library. Before it sinks in where you are, you hear gurgling, popping and oozing. Then you realize what's about to jump you. You go to pull a shoty but instead it's the BuLl dOg. Also wouldn't surprise if there's no flood.
Anyone else come back after infinite launch and saying "That would've been much cooler than the story we got."

Yeahhhhhh. The story we got was mediocre at best. It's surprising how nothingburger it really was at the end of the day. Plus, it was the dullest open world design I've ever seen. Even Ubisoft open world games have lots of little things to do, and world details to immerse yourself in. Zeta Halo lacks so much of that life, let alone the kind of mystery that Elden Ring's world design has.

For real though. I've been pretty disconnected from this game after the gameplay preview, but after watching this, the hype is back! I can't wait to dig into this game!
I can't help feel that 343 is going to take it in a completely different direction and gloss over this incredible history. HiddenXperia and others like him should for sure be in the writers team because from looking at all the product results from 343 it doesn't seem they have much of the same enthusiasm for the depth and richness of the history and also the skills to craft a good story from it. Like how do you have this freaking universe in all its epicness and come up with something like halo 4 and 5's story? I don't know but I just hope this game proves me wrong.

So even if we fight and 'defeat' the Flood on Zeta Halo in Halo Infinite; the clock is ticking down for final battle of this more than 100,000 year long war that determines the fate of whether the Milky Way Galaxy, if not the Universe, will belong either to the Flood or Humanity.
I don't think that's right. And I don't think it was clairvoyant. 101,000 centuries = 10,100,000 years. Which means we're only like 1% of the way there or whatever lol.

None of this was in the game, although there are some parallels that are probably not accidents, and a hint that some of it could be touched upon in the future in the final cutscene.. Still, even though the game absolutely doesn’t line up with the expectations this video might give, I thought it was a really really solid story in its own merit. So as usual, beware of expectations.

Seeing as his casing was left on Zeta Halo, I hope we see a Mendicant Bias Easter Egg alongside cryptic Halo 3 style terminals detailing personal accounts of those on Zeta during the Forerunner-Flood War. I still have a determined head canon that its monitor is called 117649 Iconic Xperia.

Imagine the flood, the primordial, or mendicant bias aren’t even mentioned or referenced in the game.
Then "Dust and Bones" from Halo 2 will play in our heads from then on...

The idea was beautiful to MAYBE best the early Halos but nothing well executed. 343 had that one change for redemption but failed.

It seems like all these beautiful franchises are being ruined and shallowed lore wise in favor of mass appeal. Gaming has become too profitable, backed by massive companies and investors, both pushing for negative storytelling. I hope 343 reawakes passion, the gameplay demo was... underwhelming
@@jacookie9707 that makes a lot of sense, I guess that's just what happens when it has to be made for people who aren't necessarily fans already, which is really unfortunate. Money ruins game developers.
Garrett Tekampe I mean, this franchise was created as a gaming franchise. During the Bungie years, you didn’t need the extra lore (books, comics, waypoints) to understand where you were, why you were there, and what you were doing. The extra lore definitely expanded the story told in the games, and there were references to it, especially in the later games, but if you create a game based solely in a location mentioned only in expanded lore with such detailed history, you have to realize that you’re alienating a MASSIVE part of your target audience.
I loved Halo. Couldn’t get enough of it. Even enough to read the books. But when I get played Halo 4, to me it was hollow. So much of the plot and story just seemed to be glossed over. Remember playing 3 games fighting as an underdog against the Covenant, to finally see their capital world and center of government, their ruling class and majority of their might and power destroyed because they decided to cast out the elites and attempted to completely wipe them out? Well now the elites are back with the covenant now. The covenant that wasn’t defeated and scattered. And they’re attacking humans again. BTW, where is the arbiter? What happened to those elites? Who tf is this space wizard that can seemingly melt walls and use the force to throw chief around like a rag doll? Yes, all of these questions are answered, but definitely not in game. IMO, that is a horrible way to tell a story. Halo 5 is just as bad, and I can’t say that I’m excited to have to do all this research just to understand what’s going on in this new game.
Looks like your prediction came true. Infinite was nowhere near the incredible story told in this video alone. After playing I don't think literally anything mentioned the history of humans on the ring or mendicant bias, and don't even get me started on the endless. It was a shotty story at best.
@@LyonHeartMusic yeah it is very sad. I wanted this mendicant bias story since halo 3. And they even mentioned offensive bias in the legendary ending for infinite, not it's like they just can't get anything done and they only commit to dissipating narratives that no one really wants. Something akin to star wars not telling the post return of the Jedi story we wanted to see, but trying to come up with their own new product that is as empty as it could possibly be.
Ever since I learned about Zeta Halo in high school, I have been obsessed with this installation, probably just as obsessed as I am with the ODST! I have listened, read, and watched every single bit of Zeta Halo lore that I could, your content being a good part of it. I am in full agreement with you about Zeta Halo. I love it and I can't wait to explore it!

I mean, it's entirely possible they won't be in the game. But with all the lore surrounding them on Zeta Halo it would be weird if they weren't. I mean this is going to be the first game in a while set on an actual Halo (I know 5 had one, I think...). But since the parasite can't actually die it seems highly likely that they'd still be there somewhere.
Man this excitement is so pure....only for us all to be let down so badly.

I hope they do something interesting with the day/night cycle. Like for example if you attack a Banished fortification during day it might be harder so waiting until nightfall provides an advantage. It’d also be sweet if you got hunted by the silent shadow/flood at night kinda like the monsters in Minecraft.
That would be amazing, that would add a lot to the game but something tells me details like that weren’t high up on the list of priorities for this game.

Imagine in infinite we find terminals scattered across the map and they show us the primordial being interrogated by Mendican Bias and in a similar way as with halo 2 terminals with guilty spark and the heretic leader, we see Mendican Bias slowly get the logic plague

There is this one Scripted line from Gravemind in Halo 3 as the ring is activating, just before you get to the warthog, that kinda applies to this "Resignation is my virtue. Like water i ebb and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time...to a sentence i did not deserve" Meaning basically, "i've been defeated before, i know when i'm beaten. i'll be back."

Every so often I become very concerned about Infinite but every time you talk about the lore and the potential for this game, my hype levels just skyrocket back up. You're like a one man marketing campaign for this game, and it's working flawlessly

I've always loved them and the gravemind and been fascinated by the lore of them all and the gameplay of the flood

Infinite seems to have multiple types of Shotgun, Rifle, etc. It'll probably have multiple pistols as well

Did we play the same game it was about as generic bad guy story as it gets with tiny hints of bigger stuff going on here and there but this game was a let down basically a sacrifice to set up the next halo.gameplay is spot on but story was a wash period the whole thing was like being yelled at by a high-school bully it was laughable sometimes

Basically it targets the geasa (geas plural) of living beings. Same way the Composers target.
idk about everyone else, but i just really want to see more of the flood. It being on zeta halo is really cool and all, but if it doesn't have anything about the flood (im fine with no actual flood in game if they have records or find some way to expand on their lore) then im happy.

I'm a big wheelman in Halo, so i hope the actual game is like the Demo and we get a warthog first thing.

Cause i assume with the way that cutscene was done, the initial hours wont be on the ring itself.
I come from the future. You get access to warthogs relatively quick. You even get to requisition them.

If i'm being honest, i really would like to listen to you ramble about this stuff for days. i find this stuff so incredibly interesting, especially how it ties in to how we as a species ended up where we are now. halo is my childhood, the lore, setting, and just everything about it makes me want to explore the stars and actually find out what's out there.

So if "human and ALLIED forces are continuing remediation efforts," does that mean we might see the Swords of Sanghellios in Infinife on Zeta? A plot line based around Arbiter convincing the Banished Elites to cast the Banished aside and rejoin their home clans would be amazing and would actually be a decent blow to the Banished.
The Arbiter rallying together the Swords of Sanghellios and UNSC survivors with the Chief would just be too epic

I'm waiting for a game or campaign where humans and allies work together en-masse as part of actual gameplay. Imagine Chief running around with a squad of Marines, Grunts, and Elites all working together, or grunts and elites working as UNSC officers.
I can only imagine a grunt's reaction to getting to use a CE magnum.
