alchemist89 yeah but their influence is completely different. Halo Oni has become a lot more bloated. In the real world ONI is literally just the navy’s intelligence arm. Whereas in the halo Oni is the NCIS, CIA, NSA, ONI, and literally everything else that’s bad. Why is that? well the UNSC is a lot more important in the halo time line with the insurrection war they took on more power and with the covenant war the UNSC became the government.
A secret agenda by the prominent men in history and present times (through out the ages) toward a one world communist government, is the reality that we all face. Those who have power will use it on those that do not, subversive and clandestine power is what moves the world of man. The blood chilling crimes that have been and are committed toward humanity as a whole by the greedy and the powerful, if known by all men would result the whole world to rise up and overthrow every government of man over and over until every man was free as intended by God. The enemy loves their symbols that they honor (throughout the ages), these bind them to a common goal, this includes the pyramid and the eye. Symbols have many meanings and those that only give them one meaning, will forever be ignorant about the reality we live in. One has to look deeper than what is represented by the physical appearance and know what others see behind the physical meaning. A sun can be a symbol for a god, or positivity or masculinity or a star or divinity or enlightenment.. but a few examples. The eye for surveillance, observation, knowledge, occultism, enlightenment, wisdom.. The pyramid a seat of power, hierarchy, pharaohs, building of something, tyranny..

There's also a big difference between our current reality and Halo's supposedly reality of our future: ONI has no oversight. When the CIA, NSA or FBI does something illegal and gets found out - Congress can drag them out and investigate them and cut their funding or gut the agency. If the evidence is bad enough, for the CIA, you could even revoke their charter effectively dissolving the entire agency. There's also another part of that issue: in our world, the CIA is not allowed to conduct operations on American soil and against American civilians without another agency whose jurisdiction it falls under signing off on everything the CIA is doing and observing them. Sometimes this is oversight-on-paper-only, but it's a real concern that the CIA has to follow even if it's sometimes more hollow than it should be in enforcement. ONI, again, has no such limitations. Anywhere. Anyone. Any time. Any reason. They want to assassinate someone? Fine. They don't need approval, and they aren't going to seek it. They'll just have the person killed, perhaps without anyone knowing it was an assassination even, and go about doing whatever they want. That's too dangerous of a power to not have oversight and people to answer to. All it takes is a few corrupt people and they can cause havoc and ruination to vast swaths of human space overnight if they wish to.
ONI is the biggest enemy in the Halo franchise since the Flood. And... Brian Reed thought that, instead, something-something Didact Clone... Cortana goes evil... Something... Made for a more compelling story. This is like someone throwing away gold and picking up old dried out crayons and considering them to be a more worthwhile treasure. What a hack writer...
If ONI becomes the enemy in Halo, that would be an incredible and disturbing game.

I always thought they were like a enemy of sorts and was always foreshadowed by the games and it reminds me of how in robocop theres the police and Ocp and UNSC and Oni. And that both Chief and Robocop get betrayed by the bigger group yet is still loyal to the smaller group with the grunts

1. The Orion Project following a main character like Sgt. Johnson.
2. ONI finally being slightly exposed for their transgressions, which results in them retaliating by sending hitmen-like Spartans to “take care” of you sort of like Noble 6’s background about lone wolf stuff.
3. A marine or another ODST game based on advancing through war-torn cities sort of like the first one, but with a different endgame plot

Who ever wrote that lore knows his history. Port Stanley is the capital of the Falkland Islands where Argentina launched a surprise invasion in 1982 which the British didn’t expect starting the Falklands war.

He needs help. One of those should be finding what's left of the Covenant Silent Shadows and teaming up with them, finding the leaders of ONI make them talk and record their confessions. Finally go in for the kill. Ask Arbiter Thel Vadamme to form in secret an army of Elites to take down ONI or form a Sanghielii based agency. Trying to beat them at their own game or in other words fire with fire. Gather info on them and plan well the attack.

I would love chief taking the fight to ONI as his final send off. He deserves that. They took him. In the end though it would be futile as they’ll probably be back in full force in

Can you imagine how amazing it would have been if they combined Masterchief going AWOL with the Arbiter turning against the UNSC? How cool would it have been if the pair were back to back, surrounded by a dozen black armoured Spartan IVs, all agents of ONI. The two are ordered to surrender peacefully. None of the Spartan IVs left that room alive.
That would be cringe. Making the entire UNSC the bad guys would destroy the original theme of the game. Master Chief, the UNSC, and Humanity have always been intrinsically tied together as the heroes of the Halo story.
Even though the Orion and Spartan II program was extremely unethical, I agree with ONI on this. If the Spartans weren’t made then Humanity would be extinct.
ONI be like: "In case the Sangheli want to go to war, let's give them all the reasons, motivations, and justifications they need."
The vast majority of elites were already anti-Human, so no loss really. It's just Arbiter's small faction that is on relatively good terms with the UNSC.
