Splash Mountain is GONE

- Gather around, everyone, and let me tell you a tale. This tale tells tales of log flumes, rabbits and bears, foxes and a bunch of other animals who knows. A mountain has fallen, but that doesn’t mean a new, greater attraction will rise from the beignet-scented tectonic plates around the Disney Parks.
Yeah I think that’s the end of the tale. Did it make any sense?

The naming every ride with “adventure” is such a great and clear example of Disney’s lack of any recent creativity
I'm far too exhausted rn - which ones do you mean?
For real
What other rides have adventure?
I'm pretty sure there's at least a couple others, but what are they? I think Pinnochio has adventure in the title (unless that's Journey? Never been to DL) but are there others?
I suppose Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, but I think that's the only NEW one with Adventure
Yeah I'm kinda over the "adventure" named rides. Like give me a journey, a trip, a splash, a canal, a dive, a waterlogged way... anything but the mf adventure
Honestly never expected this renewal to actually happen. Can't believe Splash Mountain is really zipadeedoodead.
It sure is zip-a-Dee-pressing
It is beyond tragic that they got rid of Splash Mountain!!! Disney is done they have lost the magic!!!!!!
I can believe it. It had it coming sooner or later, but Tiana has some really big shoes to fill, because Splash Mountain was such an amazing ride
The first thing I think of about New Orleans (where Princess and the Frog is set) -- is all the great mountains to hike. Yeah, just kidding. This is probably the most ill conceived ride Disney has ever built. It really makes no sense if you spend more than 30 seconds thinking about it.
I’m hearing rumors that Universal Studios is changing Dudley Do Rights to be a version of Splash Mountain, not sure if it’s true though
...I do think that, in general, having lots of simple animatronics is better than having three or four incredibly impressive high-tech ones, and the latter approach is what we've mostly been getting from Disney these days.
yeah just look at navi river journey, the shaman animatronic is absolutely beautiful but shes the only one on the whole ride :(
Careful what you wish for because most theme parks can't even do Splash Mountain level animatronics.
@@memethyst Yeah that animatronic is amazing but the rest of the ride is....meh. I also really detest the oversized video screen trend, I mean, I can watch tv at home. Ain't no animatronic dragonflies in my back yard, let's GOOOOOO
@@TaijifufuYeah, but we're talking about Disneyland
Agreed!!! Any animatronics are just so fun, and they are what makes the Magic!!!!
I’m forever disappointed that it won’t be a first movie recap. Because ‘Friends on the Other Side.” Replacing The Laughing Place scene would’ve been iconic.
I always assumed it was obvious that “Are You Ready!” song would play up the suspenseful climb to the flume drop. Just realizing that might not happen. 😂
Major missed opportunity!
I think they didn't do that because 1) they can make merchandise and sequels for any new characters and 2) it really would only work for the drop. Trying to match the rest of the ride scenes to one in the movie wouldn't work well, especially because Ray dies in the finale. It would be very cruel to show them immediately celebrating right after.
I know! It would’ve been a perfect fit!!
One thing I hardly see anybody talk about that Splash Mountain (Disneyland) does masterfully is setting up the atmosphere and building tension before the big drop. The stark contrast between the cheery laughing place and Brer Rabbit captured while Brer Fox silently looms over as the laughing place music slowly fades away, the Burrow's Lament song creeping in as the characters quite literally tell you Brer Rabbit is going to die, the taunting vultures with lightning striking behind them, that haunting acapella added over the music during the big ascent, and Brer Fox's shadow projection, making him look actually intimidating. It just makes the drop feel so much bigger and scarier than it actually it, and therefore makes the Zipadeedoodah finale that much more rewarding.
The new story doesn't sound like there's any stakes, especially with the omission of the movie's main villain, so I really don't think they're going to be able to recapture that feeling.
I completely agree with this! I’m personally holding out hope that Disney is intentionally not revealing anything about Dr. Facilier’s presence in the ride to make his appearance a surprise, but that just might be foolish optimism on my part.
Agreed. The formula of just having a pleasant story and then a drop doesn't make sense. At that point it would just be a huge immersive diorama. All the great rides had a huge obstacle to overcome as part of the story (i.e back to the future ride, Jurassic Park, Matterhorn, Indiana Jones) and it makes it that much more intense. Just having some characters that have no conflict will give this ride no substance or re visiting points.
Yesss that’s what I was thinking :(
@salthesicillian1752 This is something that bugs me so much! I really don't think this retheme is a good idea, and while people just claim that must mean I have a bad moral character for liking the ride as it was, my mind was thinking about the story. When they announced the first version of the story with the original movie music, I told the person I was talking to that that version of the ride was going to be changed. Two of the characters are dead, they're already human, they dug deeper, and Tiana is already there. So you have the opening song that can work in the story, and that's it.
We started talking about how, for lack of a better word, the story sounds lame. We talked about how you have to have a conflict to overcome in the story, and that storytelling was what set Disney rides apart from other basic ones. We agreed that just telling the story of the movie would work for the drop, but wouldn't work with the pace of the rest of the ride. I guessed they would put Mama Odie at the tunnel leading up to the drop, but even then, the physicality of the ride is inherently made to be suspenseful. Heck, I think most people freak out going up the lift on Grizzly River Run more than going down the drops. It just can't flow well. All political stuff aside, this retheme can't be better than Splash Mountain simply because this track won't marry with the story. Even changing Jurassic Park to Jurassic World caused so many storytelling problems.
I honestly don't understand how they are going to do the drop without a sort of 'villain' for the ride so i think they are holding out on us with that... hopefully disney pulls through and incorporates Dr. Facilier into the ride.
Dr faciller "Are you ready?" would be so perfect for the drop really hope it will be there in some way
Nope, they said long ago it's not based on the movie and only original songs
@@shoobamochaso it will be even worse
@@shoobamocha yea and now we get the first look at it and they use a song from the movie 💀
The showboat scene is one of my favorite scenes of all the rides in all the American parks. It was pure joy. I’m going to miss that scene so much.
I'm sure a showboat will return. Tiana did ride on in the movie!
They’ll probably have a very similar scene with Tiana on a boat similar to that in the movie!
I agree. The animals splitting into perfect harmony while riding the riverboat at sunset is so beautiful.
Disney dont want to give joy, they want cash for preaching
It was pure joy, and it made you so happy with that magical feeling!
Splash Mountain was kind of scary before the drop even as an adult. I really hope we don't lose that scary feeling
I’m expecting we’re getting a friends on the other side “ ARE YA READY?!” with the ominous bum -bum-bums from the masks 🎭 as you go up the hill. If they don’t DO that, I’ll be pretty bummed
@@alixwithani8250 Dr Facilier isn’t going to be in it so I don’t think that song will be included but I think the voodoo mask demons would be cool to have singing at you before the drop!
I'm hoping they still allude to Dr Facilier at some point, even if it's just a shadow of his dammed spirit. That character is just too cool to ignore, and Friends on the Other Side is easily one of the top Disney villain songs. Come on Disney, just give us a small moment of greatness.
@@alixwithani8250 real shame they aren’t having him, that would make it such a good ride with that alone though!!! got me excited for what they could do
Yes that would be awesome
Splash Mountain is an all time favorite of mine, and I'm cautiously optimistic. It looks like it'll be gorgeous at night, but after 30+ years, I'll certainly miss hearing "Zip-a-dee-do-dah" after the big drop, and the tone shift leading up to it. Crossing my fingers it doesn't become another screen filled replacement. Hoping with Chapek gone they got the green light to spend a couple more bucks than they may have before.
Brer Rabbit is up there in the briar patch in the sky… and his twin brother in Japan sends his condolences.
Press F to pay respects.
I heard from a cast member that there's talk of him being added to the Haunted Mansion cemetary alongside Mr. Toad.
@@pizzazombie5209 Doesn’t Disney have non-disclosure agreements about that sort of thing, especially when it comes to amusement park updates? Wouldn’t Disney frown on info leaks by cast members?
The bioluminescence, alone, has me sold but I'm a little nervous about what will happen before the drop if Dr. Facilier isn't meant to be in it. There needs to be a thrill moment. I hope they deliver.
So true! Without the dark moments drops are plot holes
I forgot there was even a story to the ride or a reason for the drop -- pretty sure every time I've gone on I've just been waiting for it to be over, lol. For the fun part (the drop)
I think the drop is gonna be Mama Odie's tree!
Maybe it’ll be the demons he made the contract with? Would be cool to see those masks singing at you as you’re about to go down
@@guhrizzlybaire It supposed to be the be the brier patch
Totally agree about the screens on Remy’s - if you’re not in the e centre car it’s just like having the cheap restricted view seat in the theatre and ruins the experience. If you’re going to be screen based, take lessons from universal how to do it disney 😪
Not having Keith David is a bummer. He’s the best part of anything he voices.
I am currently bingeing Gargoyles on Disney+ and he adds so much gravitas and authority to the character of Goliath!
Ikr? His role in Amphibia is stellar!!
What would you have your Arbiter do?
@@kelaarin Were it so easy.
I'm still not convinced that they won't include Facilier somehow, he's such a popular character. Could be some bayou magic at play.
Splash Mt was my favorite ride. Like many, I have so many memories from the decades and losing this one hurts.
To me, there was something mean spirited about Splash Mountain, which is why I loved it. The taunting singing after you've just gotten wet- loved it and will miss it.
*tauntingly sings about how your favorite ride is gone*
I think that's core to the ride's story: "Don't even bother trying to leave where you came from, don't even bother trying to advance your station, just accept things as they are otherwise life and even other people will chew you up and laugh at you while doing it."
That mean spirit is meaner than most realize, but fundamentally, yeah, that's the problematic core of the ride's narrative even when divorced from the film
@@chompythebeast Not at all
@@chompythebeast Br'er Fox was literally planning on killing and eating Br'er Rabbit though, the briar patch saved his life when he got tossed in there and so he's gonna stay put 'cause the fox and bear can't get him in there.
It was kinda like a big brer rabbit prank on you it was awesome
I'm going to miss Splash Mountain forever. Looks like I'm NOT able to go on it with my future family when I'm a parent of triplets after all. On the bright side, I'll show them a video clip from CZcams instead. 😭
The name I think should had been Tiana's Bayou Splash, as it would still retain the theme of the ride and some guest would be more familiar with.
It would fit too if they keep the fall
That name just _sounds_ more Disney, like it belongs to a Kingdom Hearts Summon or a Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card
RIP to the most wonderfully immersive ride I've ever been on. Some of the most fond memories of my childhood was sitting in between my mom's legs on Splash Mountain and being amazed by all of the art and animatronics. I haven't been to a theme park in over a decade but the theming made it second to none. The dead tree on top, the briar patch, it was my favorite ride at Disneyland

1. Midway Mania opened at a time where screens in attractions were not nearly as invasive and prevalent as they are now
2. Universal Studios has a Spider-Man ride with screens that is an infinitely superior ride to Web Slingers
You're final comment is really the key. Most people loved the attraction and even if we are empathetic to the reasons for the change, it doesn't change the fact that it was a truly phenomenal attraction. So balancing the need to make it new but also not just undo everything we love about Splash Mountain is a difficult task.
If they just did a cheap overlay while leaving most everything intact people will be upset instead of satisfied because it'll feel cheap and just remind us of what we lost. But completely changing everything could be an issue but mostly if the final product is clearly inferior. If they present an all new attraction with new sets, new songs, new characters and new vibe but they make it great then people will like it. If they replace audio-animatronic figures with screens and just make it a cheap long version of Frozen Everafter but themed to Tiana then it will be hated. If they phone this in then the fans will never forgive them. What's more, if it is universally hated then the people pushing for the change in the first place will be really upset at Disney for blowing this opportunity.
I'm deeply saddened. One of my favorite experiences was getting off splash at the end of the night and walking through critter country with all the nature sounds... felt so peaceful and relaxing. I'll miss that.
They may keep the nature sounds
It will be the same experience however the music will never be the same
I recently rode Tokyo Disney's Splash Mountain. It was rad, as mostly everything, including a lot of the singing, was all in Japanese. So familiar, yet so strange at the same time. 😃
It's not gone for me - It's still at my home resort of the Tokyo Disney Resort.
For now…
Dallin, i laughed out loud when you referred to the Carousel building as "the one building keeping the People Mover from reopening" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a kid of the early 80s, Splash Mountain for me has always been about my favorite characters from my favorite attraction America Sings getting a new home. I was there for Splash Mountain’s opening weekend as well as for its last day (if you think the line was crazy it’s final day, whew you shoulda seen the line I stood in as a kid while my parents waited on a bench lol) and I wasn’t even a little bit sad about the closure because I know those America Sings characters will be just fine. At least until I just watched this video and now I’m hoping and crossing my fingers that those animatronics will survive to a possible third stage in their careers!
It's going to be bad.
Disney in recent years has had abyssmal additions across all of their parks.
Ask yourself this question in ernest: How far does the quality of the Disney experience need to dip before you cannot justify the price of visiting?
Maybe Disney should look to Knott's Berry Farm. When they updated the Log Ride, the Mine Ride and Big Food Rapids, they used no SCREENS, it's all practical sets.
I think updated animatronics would be welcome, and any is better than none, but no more glowing projector faces please!
Timber Mtn. Log Ride has always been better than Splash anyways, it doesn't matter much what Disney does with this new revamp, although thematically it does work better in Disneyland I feel.
I think Disney is going to use animatronics rather than screens
Why do people keep thinking this ride is going to have screens? Disney has never indicated they are going to use screens for this ride.
@@jalapeno1119 Because some people say one thing and do another, remember "if you like your doctor--you can keep your doctor." How did that go?????
The Mark Davis bit was funny. “Mark Davis, the inventor of the tinker bell inator, Mr Toad inator, imaginator”. Bro thinks he’s doofenshmirtz
It's starting to feel like a role reversal between Universal and Disney. Universal used to be very screen-heavy with their rides while Disney kept with their animatronic/practical effects for their rides. Now Universal is trying to lean more towards practical effects for their rides due to guest feedback while Disney is going all in on screen-based rides.
At least we'll always have the fantastic special "Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain" (right, Vern?). And I like Princess and the Frog, but I wish someone had thought to make this a Muppet themed ride, going through Kermit's swamp while he plucks his banjo and Muppets peek out from the scenery.
That would have been awesome.
That would be awesome. I'd love a new Muppets ride.
Would have made more sense and fit with the land better, Muppets are a more popular IP IMO
That would be awesome and they really wouldn’t have to change much. The setting is already kind of similar to Kermit’s swamp. I’m not sure but they could probably overlay the muppet skins over the preexisting animatronic structures too
My fear is that 85% of what used to be animatronic characters on the old ride will be replaced by projections and screens on the new ride. Splash Mountain was one of the last remaining rides that was a huge repository of large animatronic setpieces - Splash Mountain (along with Small World) just have so many figures/characters crammed into the ride (much more than even other rides with animatronics) and all of them are fun to watch and full of unique character life.
I guarantee that most of those animatronic character bases will be removed and most of the characters on Bayou Advanture will be projections and screens. And it makes sense, as maintaining a projection will be much lower effort and cost for Disney than physical figures in actual water.
Edit: I also expect that anytime we see an animatronic for Tiana/Naveen/Charlotte, they'll have their faces projected like on the Frozen ride at Epcot - which always is distracting when I see it because you're on a dark ride and the projected faces are SO DARN BRIGHT IT'S ALMOST BLINDING.
I just hope the interior isn't sparse. Lately it feels like some of the rides have these sparsely staged scenes that focus on very specific elements, but the rest of the room is an empty warehouse with light theming. I'm very excited for this retheme, but I can just as easily imagine it being hallways of screens up until the drop and then some animatronics at the end by the riverboat.
It’s jarring to think that Splash Mountain is gone. It was always the number one ride my friends and I loved going to before we set out to eat. They better not get rid of the drop….
If you want to ride Splash Mountain it’s basically cheaper to fly to Tokyo and go on it than it is to go to Disneyworld and stay on property.
splash mountain has always been my favorite ride so nothing will top it, but my main concern is the tone of the ride. splash’s storytelling is so great, how it’s all happy until you see Brer Rabbit captured, then the tone totally shifts. it’s a great way of making the drop more intense and intimating. and the showboat at the end kinda serves as a congratulatory ending. with the new ride, they don’t want to make anything scary, and they’re making it all bright and happy during the lift and the area before it. it’ll completely ruin the vibe splash had and the drop will be so much less scary. having dr. facilier would completely fix that problem, or it could just be the friends on the other side. disney could find a way to include it, they’re making a whole new story for this ride so they could integrate facilier somehow
Exactly well said! They knew how to tell a story back then
see im excited about the peppy drop. if they put dig a little deeper there and they're all cheering us on the way down i think it would be super fun
@Animatronic Crazy -- yes, this is my concern exactly. And if there was ever a villain that could be brought back from the dead and have it make sense within the story, it's Facilier. His whole deal was having "Friends on the Other Side!"
Facilier is dead though since this takes place after the movie
@@KingOfGaymes Facilier is dead, but his whole deal was his connection with the other side. I think he could come back. Also, Lord Farquaad came back in Universal Studios' "Shrek 4-D" as a ghost.
It was the first ride I ever rode the very first time I went to Disneyland as a kid. 😢 RIP to the greatest log ride of all time.
With PJ Morton and Tereance Blanchard handling music I'm gonna go ahead and say the music is in some of the best hands possible
So what really happened??? Disney realizes that they can sell more Tiana merchandise… that’s it…
nope, the movie didnt sell well
i used to work in the splash mountain store at magic kingdom, so i’m curious what will happen to the photo store and the briar patch (which has been a break room ever since the pandemic). i wonder if they’re gonna keep doing photo sales or just do it through magic bands like every other recent attraction! i haven’t seen many people talking about the shops but i’m curious what they’ll do with those spaces 😊
One day, all of us should go to Tokyo Disneyland and ride their version of it.
I'll be over at Tokyo's unspoiled version of the Haunted Mansion.
Rest In Peace Splash Mountain 😑😭🌊⛰🏞🐻🦊🐰🪵
My favorite point you brought up was the attraction at night even though I would rather keep critter country than expand New Orleans. Splash mountain was my favorite attraction as well, so it’s going to be that much harder for the imagineers to make something that I will like more.
There is one considerately interesting fact towards fans and who misses Splash: Tokyo Disneyland is the only park having Splash with Magic Kingdom's instrumentals with banjos but vocals are reworded to Japanese and it is also located in Critter Country but with themes resembling western side of the Old South a la Frontierland (Texas/New Mexico/Arizona) instead of Louisiana Bayou-ish theme a la California Disneyland.
I’m trying to predict what effects will stick around, like Pooh Bear’s balloon having originally been Teddi Barra’s swing.
Considering many of the Splash animatronics were already recycled from America Sings, it's tough to say.
Omg I had no idea!! I love when they keep links to the original ride like that. I’m afraid they think they need to rebuke splash completely and won’t do it for Tiana’s 😭
i’m going to miss Splash Mountain a lot. besides the childhood memories, i really liked the cute animal characters! Brer Rabbit and the fox were super adorable. im so bummed i didn’t buy any Splash Mountain merch when i could have :P
I think the reason people hate on the Spider-Man ride in California is because there is already a much better Spider-Man at Universal Orlando, and they wanted something of that quality at Disney.
Think the Princess and the frog is a good overlay choice. Waterfall doesn't fully fit, but going through the swamp, the big steam boat in the middle of the ride, the general theaming around the outside area, it all works well.
The real question is how much will they charge for an individual lightning lane
The animatronics were by far my biggest concern about this retheme (not the only one, but the biggest). It's seemingly being addressed however. Late last year I was told by someone close to the team working on this that they would be reusing the America Sings figures (indicating most if not all of them). And that a lot of the new animatronics being created for the ride would be quite state of the art and non-projected. Most likely the same types found in Tokyo Beauty and the Beast and upcoming Frozen ride (A1000 i think). The critter band seen in one of the newer pieces of art are also going to be proper AA's, not the simple moving figures you see in a lot of old Fantasyland dark rides. The Otter in particular had a drawing on display at D23 last year showcasing some of the range of motion he'll have. Which is quite a lot, even the facial expressions are quite varied.
More recently an imagineer (former as of February) on Instagram named Royce Alcoser has been posting images of some of the old America Sings figures with Tiana hashtags. He also has what appears to be a copy of one of the Swamp Boys being used to seemingly test outfits, it has a new festive looking Mardi Gras like purple hat and feather. He attached a comment about a stork figure from the Laughing Place saying it was "headed to the bayou". I'm guessing he wasn't supposed to say that, since he's deleted that comment as well as other hints about figures being reused. One of the pieces of concept art also still shows the original possums hanging from the ceiling. Disney has responded to questions about Splash references appearing by saying they want to keep it "surprise". They know people loved Splash.
One of the pieces of art Disney commissioned from Sharika Mahdi to help conceptualize the ride also contains a number of animal figures with very America Sings like designs. They're more anthropomorphic than most of the animals in the film and are fully clothed. So some of the animals in the ride may have clothing. At least the larger ones later into the attraction. Seems like they're leaning into the idea of there being plenty of other animals like Louis who dream of being human and mimic them.
This is great news if true, as long as they keep the America sings animatronics I'm happy
From the few rides I had with this attraction, the Walt Disney World version, it was a good way to cool myself off on a hot day under the sun. I did not get a chance to ride it one last time before it closed, but I do see why many people miss it so much. The songs were memorable, the characters were enjoyable and the atmosphere for the attraction was just perfect, even if it was in a land mostly dedicated to the Wild West. I do look forward to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens sometime next year and when it does open up to the public, I shall ride the attraction many times in its longevity. Until then, we will have those ride videos of Splash Mountain to treasure for all of our lifetimes and pray that one day “Song of the South” gets a modern video release sometime in the distant future.
Splash Mountain Passed Away
_Splash Mountain Tokyo: EHEM WHAT AM I A ROACH?_
RIP the America Sings animatronics. I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up at least being on display but the fact that so mush history is now being replaced is sad :(
Keep in mind it is very possible for them to “reskin” old animatronics. Functionally, theyre hydraulic metal and plastic figures with stuff thrown on top, so that “on top” stuff can be easily altered. They can just take the clothes off the animatronics that dont need them anymore or even completely change the appearance of any of them, as long as they keep the same general shape.
This ride is my Disney memory. When I was a kid at Disneyland late at night the older kids went with my mom and rode the big rollercoaster, and the younger kids, me and my sister and brother, went with our dad and rode this logfume ride over and over and over again, trying to get faster and faster by putting us in different order and just spending hours playing this over and over again
I rode splash mountain countless times as a kid, the last time I stepped foot on that ride was over 12 years ago at this point. I'm sad that I won't get to ride the original again, but I am very excited for the changes to come. I look forward to being able to visit once I can afford a ticket lol
I rode it again recently and it is a fun ride, but I do think that it's time to let go of it and move on. I'm not sure how much of the ride really depends on the theming that they've got, as even by the time the ride opened, they were already stepping away from the Brer characters and the Song of the South in general. I suspect that if the ride wasn't based on something so important to Walt, that it probably wouldn't have been made at all. As long ago as 1984 Michael Eisner was saying that it wouldn't be released to home audiences. Apart from a bootleg that I downloaded more recently, the only time I ever saw it was as a literal film being screened at the local middle school.
I do think that it's about time, even though the justification is BS. SotS is too racist to have a ride or any mention, but somehow there's still a sign advertising "coonskin" hats right now. Even though I grew up with the term 'coon for raccoon, I've accepted that the term is no longer acceptable, but somehow it was still on that sign a couple of weeks ago.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade There was a UK DVD release not too long ago but nothing has been released to US audiences.
@@writerpatrick Yes, there have been some international releases over the years, but I don't consider them particularly relevant to the survival of a ride in the US.
I feel like Disney just wanted an excuse to change this ride, because everyone of every race I know in my life loves this ride, and I would say that along with When You Wish Upon A Star, that Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah has become an iconic theme song to the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. It's really a shame, RIP ride, you'll be missed.
The fact the future generation won’t get to recreate the image of the guys who brought a GameCube, TV, and copy of Melee on to Splash Mountain is the biggest crime of all 😔
Oh yes they will.
When there’s a will, there’s a way
I doubt they’ll be removing the drop photo feature
They'll still be able to get photos from the drop. The drop will be the same
Initially I was devastated to hear that the ride I’ve loved since I was 5 was completely going away, then hearing more about the team and all the art that was coming out, I’m more optimistic. I’m still sad about it of course, but change is pretty much inevitable at the parks, and the people who are behind this change have done some amazing things in the past. I’m hopeful they’re gonna do amazing ❤️
Hey offhand disney, loved your coverage on the ride! Don’t know if you take video recommendations but would love to see you make a park ranking or tier list!
The Laughing Place has always been my happy place. I understand changes need to be made sometimes, but I am going to miss the songs and characters so very much. I do have faith that the imagineers understand just how sacred this ride was for so many people, and I truly hope they make this just as good, if not better, than the ride we just lost.
In retrospect, I was nearly as disappointed when they shut down ToT, and Mission Breakout turned into a fabulous replacement. I hope it’s that kind of outcome instead of a Country Bears to Winnie the Pooh situation. 🤞🏻
Or imagination fiasco
There will be no retheme. Splash Mountain is alive and well and will be for the 75th of WDW in 2046 and the centennial of Disneyland in 2055. Mission Breakout was also a failure and no one will miss it when Disney gets trust busted and Marvel is taken away from them resulting the return of Tower of Terror. No one will miss Marvel or Star Wars or Pixar.
I know what would really get Dalen excited. Tie in to the haunted mansion with the villain element. Or a cameo from a living Madame Leotta alongside Mamma Odie. With the new film firmly estsblishing our mansion in the Bayou maybe its the perfect combination?
Not having ‘friends on the other side’ for the drop would be a MASSIVE missed opportunity IMO. But, I do understand Disney not wanting to have ‘evil voodoo black guy’ as the villain for this ride
Lol "Good news! We got rid of the references to an old racist movie.. now enjoy evil black guy as a villain!"
This PC world is ruining everything.
@@H.E.M. People are so quick to overlook the black good-hearted protagonists. Just can't win I guess
@@MCastleberry1980 it’s not about the color of the villain. It’s about the villain, and their part of the story.
RIP to the best theme park ride in the world.
But they’re not closing the Haunted Mansion…right?!
@@KRobinson-ko1ne I don't think so
For every posting you do, continue to sneak in references to the PeopleMover, regardless if it has any relation to the posting, or not. Mr. Iger, who I assume faithfully watches your postings, will finally blink and give in, and resuscitate the PeopleMover.
I like the art work with the boat in the tree. And I hope they reuse every last anamatronic. And hopefully I won't have to wait 4 hours to ride it like a did when it originally opened at Disneyland. 🤞🏻😂🤞🏻
I'll miss the Br'ers a lot and hope that whatever replaces them is worthy of occupying the same space they once did.
That Ralphie animatronic is terrifying and looks like it'd come to life at night and eat people.
Don’t have a good day
Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Day!
😭
obviously super sad that splash mountin is no more, ive had so many wonderful memories on that ride. yet i am excited (and nervous) about tiana"s new ride.
We want animatronics and we want them now!
#nomorescreens
Personally I am super exited for this attraction, and it looks like there is a lot of passion going into it, (though maybe I'm biased as a huge Tiana fan). Especially how it will look at night; I'm also going to guess they will be using a lot of the America sings animatronics because it would probably be cheaper for them to reuse those than make completely new ones. Kind of a win-win for Disney history fans and Disney. Though there is definitely a part of me that will miss hearing zippidy doo dah in the park and I have a lot of memories going on it. Lets all hope they don't mess it up lol
splash mountain looks better tiana is trash
Disney Will do the job poorly. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be Frozen Ever After 2.0, just wait and see it.
I'm a sucker for a good use of smellitizer! I'm hoping they're going to fill it with life and physical sets and animatronics. It'd be a shame to lose so much imagineering to screens and empty space.
I wouldn't count Dr. Facilier out yet. He's a witch doctor with "friends on the other side." He might come back as a ghost and become a literal Shadow Man. There are ways they could work him into the ride.
if they don't have the witch doctor singing "are you ready" as you go up the lift hill I'm gonna be so pissed off
I think Tiana's will work great in Disneyland since they already have a New Orleans themed area- but I've said it before, I'm nervous for how it'll fit in WDW. Unless they make a transitional area between Adventureland and Frontierland, where you're going from the old west, down to the bayou, then to the Caribbean, it'll feel reeeeally out of place next to thunder mountain. Hopefully for all of us Disney parks starts putting the effort in again to give us amazing things. Make it happen Mr. Iger ✨
I'm gonna miss Splash Mountain. Luckily the music is still available online and it still exists in Disneyland Shanghai so it's not a complete loss
*Tokyo Disneyland
Splash Mountain will be there for WDW's 75th and Diseyland's centennial. It's not even gone. Disney is lying.
One of your best videos ever! You made my day!
I hope DSNY Parks will preserve the animatronics in which Walt Disney was the first to bring us my all time favorite, In The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room where Jose comes to life as Walt wakes him up, His Siestas keep growing shorter and shorter.
I don’t really know what to expect from the plot of the new ride. Finding a missing ingredient?? That doesn’t sound captivating at all. I’ll miss Splash since I grew up riding it. I was lucky enough to ride it twice last year during MNSSHP (my first time back to the park in almost a decade), but I don’t feel that connection to the ride itself. I just love the drop.
I AM massively excited for (hopefully) a beignet stand and the scent. I also wish they would have non alcoholic mint juleps and gumbo.
They have all that stuff at New Orleans square in Disneyland, hoping Disney World gets their own version of that
I’m predicting it now. This will go down as one of the biggest Disney parks mistakes in history. It will rival the debacle that is Journey Into Imagination but with perhaps an even greater negative impact due to where it’s located.
I think I can safely say it will be as successful as replacing the Wedway PeopleMover with Rocket Rods. Princess and the Frog was one of the biggest box office flops ever for Disney -- I have never met a single person who saw it in the theater. Great basis for a ride, eh? 😆
Splash Mountain didn't pass away. Splash Mountain was sacrificed. We both know it!
It was a mercy killing.
It's reincarnated
@@ttintagelMost popular ride in the park.
@@jalapeno1119Not a single mountain in the bayou;)
To the gods of racial equity
So I guess 'The Color Purple ADVENTURE' re-theming is no longer? 🧐
I guess I understand why they are re-making the ride cause of the controversy. But nothing no matter what will be like this ride. It was a true classic for me and I loved it.
I already miss “My oh my what a wonderful day!”
I feel like the censoring of SotS does to James Baskett’s legacy as an actor what the racists did to him while he was alive by not letting him attend the awards.
I just feel like they won by pretending the movie has some sort of horrible depiction or like it doesn’t have a wonderful message.
When was the movie ever censored?
Not excited at all, Splash was my 2nd favorite and I loved riding it over and over whenever I went. Plus the ride and story of Splash fit perfectly while it doesn’t fit with PATF. The only thing that would’ve fit imo was Facilier on the lifthill but that’s not even happening. This change just brings a lot of things into question, why is there a giant waterfall in a bayou, why is it so tall, why are there 3 different drops on the ride etc. Plus getting rid of the music from Splash hurts a lot
I'm both parts excited and worried. I'm excited because I think PATF absolutely deserves to have a place in the parks and I think it could fit really well inside Splash Mountain. The bayou atmosphere is going to be great and the movie's soundtrack is one of Disney's best, so I just know the music will be great, regardless if it's new or old.
There's a few things that worry me though. For one, I whole-heartedly agree with you about the name. It's just so uncreative and kind of a mouthful. I would honestly prefer if it was still called Splash Mountain because it's just so iconic! It also still perfectly describes what the new ride will be like. If they really have to do a name change though, Tiana's Bayou Adventure ain't it. The likely omission of Dr Facilier is also a huge blow to my excitement. When the ride was first announced, I imagined "Friends on the Other Side" playing with voodoo visuals as you go up the lift for the big drop. I honestly don't think anything they come up with for that scene is going to be better. Everything you mentioned about animatronics and screens also worries me. I have hope that it will be great, but I'm definitely concerned.
Idea: Disney takes all the splash mountain things they won't use and make a museum of them in Hollywood studio.
I’m gonna miss Splash Mountain, but I do think that this movie is a good one to use as inspiration for this ride, plus I think it’s a bit underrated so I’m glad to see it have an attraction as representation in the parks.
The "dozens of new animatronics" had me hopeful, but they backtracked recently and said 17, which is nice but less than "dozens", which would imply at least 2 dozen. I hope they're keeping the old ones and not calling them new since they're being redressed/modified- maybe they'll also upgrade them to being electric rather than hydraulic?
That said, the recent news has gotten me more excited than I already was. The main reason I loved the original Splash was the extremely detailed sets and the animal characters, so if they keep that in tact, the retheme should be fantastic! I've always loved Princess and the Frog, so if done right, this attraction will be an instant classic.
An extremely well done video! Very informative too
I’m more wondering if they’re going to recycle the current animatronics, like we have seen various times in the past (such as the Star Tours queue droids). It would be a shame to lose the original designs, but having the actual frames re-worked would be really interesting
Overall, I am excited about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but I have one concern--the story. This actually can be a more general complaint about the direction many new Disney rides are going. The key part of the story I dislike is "Tiana needs the guests help to find the missing ingredient." When I go on a Disney ride I like being a passive observer like on Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, or Splash Mountain. I do not really want to go on a fourth-wall-breaking adventure where there is going to be a Tiana animatronic blankly waving at me in order to make me feel "part of the story". Or I hear the words "Lets go guys" or "Oh do you see the missing ingredient" like I am in Dora the Explorer. I want to observe the story, not be part of the story. One more complaint I have that I am sure will be solved is there seems to be a lack of tension in the ride, which Splash Mountain did great at building up.
It needs to be a little scary at the end. This is where Dr. Facilier could come in. I don't think being on the other side would be much of an impediment to him.
May the creatures of Briar Patch haunt the Bayou for all time👿
Peak thumbnail, nice video, gonna miss the attraction
I know it's almost impossible at this point but I REALLY hope they keep "How do you do" and "Zip a dee doo da" .
Both are so magical.
Yep. I’ll miss it, but I’m cautiously optimistic for Tiana’s.
I'm sure it will be fine, the big issue is that they have to re-use most of the existing ride. So, the drops will be in the same place, the tracks will run in the same place and they'll have to craft the ride's story to fit with that. Which can be done, but they weren't as limited when they created the original ride, as they could move things around a bit to make for the best ride they could make in the area they had available. Some of it like the paddle wheel boats might well remain as they would be reasonable for the new ride.
I’m so tired of Disney fans making excuses for terrible decisions like this. This is proof that no matter how bad a product is, as long as you slap the Disney logo on it, people will line up to pay for it
