Apple cider vinegar and tea helped me a lot with my bloating my first few weeks into recovery. Bloating is so normal ( and very annoying / painful / discouraging ) . Just know that it’s because your body is trying to relearn how to properly process healthy amounts of food . And be patient with self . When treated well our bodies can do amazing things for us . I’m 3 months in and already seeing great change .
I have an eating disorder and I have body dysmorphia and my bloating is literally giving me panic attacks every day to where I’m more scared to continue recovery

Healing is worth it . Trust me ! I’m three months in and finally starting to once again have power over food . I’ve gained 15 lbs …. But …. I’m so proud of how now I can say no to seconds / after a meal I feel satiated and don’t have to keep stuffing myself . The bloating has gone down a bit for me … but I still get it sometimes . Apple cider vinegar helped me a lot the first few weeks … and loose dresses 👗 Be patient with self and understanding. Healing is worth it ❤

Hey I actually have the exact same issues and I tried everything in my power to get a flat stomach but then I asked myself why do I want a flat stomach and when I finally realized why I actually wanted it, it wasn't for myself it was because I was constantly being almost pressured by social media and society saying that that's what females should look like or males and it's just not true it's not how we were designed to look we were designed to look the way that we look and everyone has a unique shape and they're perfect the way they are and you are perfect the way you are

Oh my freaking gosh I thought I was alone in this situation my stomach looks exactly the same size as yours even bigger. I suffer from chronic constipation due to IBS and endometriosis and am thinking the constant use of different laxatives on and off for 7 or so just made things way worst. I have to restrict cause there is like literally no space in my stomach to fit additional food after eating a two small meals a day. I retain a lot of water too wow, thanks for sharing your story. If your up to it can you provide an update on what your doing to combat the bloating, constipation and water retention? Also, I know you probably won’t believe this, but you are very beautiful despite of what your going through🤗🤗🤗

Thank you so much for posting this. Truts me, it will get better. I am currently recovering from bulimia and for a month i have experienced extreme bloating/ EDEMA. I thought it wasnt going to go down or get better but the swelling eventually went down :) you should check more about EDEMA!
My stomach is literally doing the same thing. It’s so painful and overall uncomfortable physically/emotionally! How long did this extreme bloat last for you?
MegDubu I still have it some days, but it isn’t as bad, not nearly. I think I’d say it was month 6 in recovery when everything started feeling “normal” again.

MegDubu Well, it varies. Some days it’s food bloat, and others it’s water retention. I’ve been working with a dietician and I’ve figured out a few foods that my body tends to react negatively to, so I try to avoid them or not eat them routinely. I’m conscious of how they’ll make me feel afterwards, however I still don’t let them dictate my cravings. If I go out to dinner and the dish has onions in them and I know it’ll make me feel like a stuffed turkey(with diarrhea) on thanksgiving but I still really want it, I’ll still eat it regardless. It doesn’t happen often though. I still retain a lot of water nearing my cycle though. Like +10-15 lbs.

Listen!! Don't give up. I have had constipation without any ED. I know it's physically sucks. My advice to you is that do eat all your meals BUT (here comes the important part), eat light foods like without wheat or refined flour; more veggies and fruit, which are easier to digest. Also; please do not eat cold stuff like smoothies, rather hot stuff to make your muscles work. I have been there. Just be patient and do not stop your recovery.
@Philippa Somers Drink smoothies but not cold. Also drink hot milk, tea, lemon water like a lot. It kicks up digestion. Also, wait it out. You haven't eaten normally for so long. It's bound to have some problems and one month is nothing. People go in recovery for at least 5 months for physical rehabilitation from ED. You are doing great but Do not make any rash decisions. Eat lots of soft cereals in hot milk, and do not go exercising if you haven't had a healthy relationship towards it. It's too much sorry.....stay strong!!!
I have - after years and years of constipation , buying so many products- paying for private tests- nothing worked- I was so miserable- its going to sound so cliché but after going on holiday this year and eating more- my bowels became more regular , I hadn't changed anything- in fact it was a miracle for me as ive always found holidays worse - the only thing I recognised is that I was eating more- I made a promise to myself that when I got home id increase all my meals and snacks- things have been so much better- im eating a much larger amount of food- I don't weigh- but my body still looks the same- and my clothes all fit- feel free to reply on here and I can give u my contact xx

Prunes helped me a-lot with constipation. I actually live then and eat as many as i want. Recovery edema ,exhaustion and anxiety is what is bothering me the most 😢 but I can’t keep relapsing as my body just wants to recover and so do I! ❤
i’m recovering from anorexia rn, and the constipation is INSANELY painful...i’m taking miralax and even did a suppository and am drinking magnesium citrate, my stomach is HUGE in the same place as you, my sweatpants even feel tight on me i’m laying in pain right now feeling like my stomachs going to explode it’s absolutely terrible and triggering

Oml showers are the absolute worst. I undress and see everything I dread and end up crying, self-loathing. It's awful. Need a serious solution to being bloated and constipated :/
Lie down on your bed and massage you tummy pushing your contents downward towards your legs. Get up and walk around. Drink hot tea with white sugar as much as you can. Do this as much as you can until you have a bowel movement x
i have atypical anorexia where my bmi is around 18.5 abit of borderline underweight cause like my counselor told me i should start eating more and recovery now to bmi of 19/20 so i 1398 calories started yesterday but majority is just healthy food and a little bit is small portion of cake and after the last meal, i feel super guilty and i had extreme bloating idk what to do i feel like super guilty. because of my diets past few weeks/months had been restricting myself to 800 calories. 😅
What is the best thing for severe constipation I have not went in a week and I look like a fucking ballon I have even tried a miralax cleanout and it did nothing like help ….. anyone can answer or suggest
Magnesium citrate.. if this doesn’t work. I tell you a secret: Mix Dry Prunes with Apples and Dates and 150 ml water to a sauce and eat it. Drink afterwards 1l water:
Hi! Abdominal pain is because you’re suddenly nourishing your body, you get full easily because your stomach isn’t accustomed to the food and still hungry because of mental hunger, the gas is because you’re not used to food rn. Hope you feel better soon and keep pushing
Priscilla Christine not sure if the prune juice helped I called my doctor and she told me not to drink prune juice and stay away from too much fiber. I’ll definitely try the kiwi
Smile3311 I take a cocktail of meds (they have all been given by my PCP). They give me Miralax, Colace, digestive enzymes and probiotics; along with a new trial medication for chronic constipation by IBS. It’s called Linzess.

I hate that constipation, i would take laxative but i struggle with laxative abuse. Stay strong you're worth so much ❤

Misty Lang Did it help? Sometimes prune juice can be hard on your tummy, I’ve fount 2 kiwis a day help a lot!
