    Fine review brother, as always! Those ocea jiggers are some beasts! They do put out more crank power than the trinidads and feel a little more refined. Maybe it has something to do with those “Micro-Module” gears, not too sure. But they are easily the nicest star drag I’ve ever laid hands on. Feels like a smoother saltiga!

      @Seastheday88  Před rokem +1

      They are indeed, I've been hunting all season for a 4000 size and heard just as much great things from the grey colored 5000 model. I don't know how something can be this smooth, effortless with no resistance on each crank. I do have a Saltiga 35ha in the bag and working on putting it side by side with the Trini 20a. I've been taking out my Tesoro and Fathoms star drag more this season though so hopefully next season a more spread analysis between them all. Thanks for watching bro🙌

    the fine-toothed gear can handle more power because it has a greater number of smaller teeth in contact with the other gear, creating a larger surface area of contact between the gears

    • @Seastheday88
      @Seastheday88  Před rokem

      I do like the idea of more contact, and it also has a helical cut to it while the Trinidad is spur cut. At the end of day, which ever works best for you. I do prefer double pawl AR dog and a bigger diameter drag washer/plates. While the smaller teeth will be even smoother all day.

    FYI, the T-handle and arm from the Shimano Torium PG bolts right onto the Trinidad. Same handle as the Ocea Jigger. 😁

    • @Seastheday88
      @Seastheday88  Před rokem +2

      I’ve actually been eyeing that handle. It’s $58ish iirc from Shimano for that entire assembly. Recently got a Gomexus longer carbon arm and cork T-bar. Aiming to replicate the recent saltiga jigging reels, let’s see how that works with our new depth limitations😂

    • @Seastheday88

      @@toite3x3ninjah The Trinidad, I only have 20a now. The Saltiga, I have 35ha and 15h. Also Okuma Tesoro 10s and 5. Also have Penn Fathoms in Star Drag. I’m hoping to put use to them all for another season. Trinidad and Saltiga feels the smoothest in hand. Saltiga 35ha is a bit bulkier and slightly heavy for the capacity, feels similar to Fathom 25n in size. The Fathom and Tesoro, are decent reels. Once you’re hooked on a fish, you can’t feel the difference of how smooth each reel is, mostly because I’m concentrated on the fish. Just need them to have solid drag and reassurance in their anti reverse systems.
      Hopefully after a good season I can provide a more thorough review of them all.
      My Trinidad 20 hooked up on a BFT this summer, casting into a foamer and it lasted only a few mins before it chewed through 60lb leader.
      Trinidad 16na hooked up on a BFT and broke off within 20sec after it broke off on 30lb test.
      Tesoro brought up a solid 35lb YFT
      A friend with a Trinidad 20, something big hooked up and took all his line.
      OG Torium 20, my cousin landed a 120lb couple months ago but took almost 2 hours😅
      Does take finesse on the bigger species and I honestly wouldn’t want to play with them on star drag. Since I’ve last broke off with the Trinidad 20, I’ve added a Torque 30ld2 in its place when chasing BFT.
      Hope that helps and gives an idea.

      @Seastheday88  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi. Thanks for asking. It’s Fishshop dot Shimano dot com. It’s going to need a few pieces to make it fully work.
      Biggest size Stella SW knob which is 18000 model. The outer bearing from schematics, the plate cover and the two screws for the plate cover.
      The knob is 100 times more comfortable in hands and gives a firmer grip for me. Hope that helps

    Wouldn’t the narrow be good for casting sardines?

    • @Seastheday88
      @Seastheday88  Před rokem

      It is. Works well for casting overhead. Also take a look into the smaller 14 or Fathom 12, the spool is so light, most of my dines are peeling line. The narrow on 16na is convenient for yoyo, jigging and bottom fishing too. I need to get out on a trip soon, feeling land sick already and only thinking about the waters 😅

      @@Seastheday88 I was on a trip about 3 weeks ago and seen the Penn Fathom drag system fail so thanks for the suggestion. In fact my Sealine 50h anti reverse went out on that trip. It’s a 90’s model so I’ll just buy another reel of much better quality. Went round and round on the boat then the anti reverse went out. What ever I hooked up with it must have been big. @@Seastheday88 The crew member said that he’s seen drag failures before. We were on a school of fish and when Mike he was fishing the reel locked up and broke the line. The reel handle wouldn’t turn so the owner of the reel was given a boat set up. That happened on the second day of fishing. I seen the reel and the handle wouldn’t move. My Sealine turned forward and backwards lol.

    • @Seastheday88
      @Seastheday88  Před rokem

      Hi Kent. The Ocea Jigger has a clicker also, but it’s a bit more silent. It’s fixed permanently on by design on the drag washer so you can’t disable it. Thus reason why ocea jigger has less drag for same size Trinidad as it takes up more space from the drag washer diameter.

      100% agreed. The gear cut is beefier and the drags has more surface for stopping power. It would be worth getting the 16na with a Tbar handle upgrade even with out the spool lock and auto engage feature.
