      JM is an ok brand, but there are better brands. They are heavy, which affects your fishing. Will be making a video on why weight affects your fishing soon. It's not brand specific, but will give you why some brands/reels are better than others.

    I was wondering, bc the jigging reels are very expensive I’d like to make the correct choice between a right hand crank or left hand crank. With spinners I use left but with normal surf casting conventional reel I use my right. I’ve never used a left hand conventional reel but it seems like it would be easier. Do you have a video comparing the left and right crank? What is your take on this to help me make my decision? Ik the final choice will be mine. Thank you very much and keep up with those informative instructional videos. 🙏🏽🤙🏽

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      If you already reel right with conventionals - stick with it. People that reel with the left without knowing why and switched, got hit hard with a marketing strategy employed by reel manufacturers - ask anyone exactly what the benefit is and they will give you a
      BS answer coz unless they are left handed to start with, there is no real reason to reel left with conventional gear.

    When should you decide to use/select a jigging reel with higher retrieve speed (and lower torque) vs a jigging reel with lower retrieve speed (and higher torque) for slow pitch jigging?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před 4 měsíci +1

      fast jigging needs a slow reel and slow jigging needs a fast reel. Slow retrieve reels can be used when fish are holding in shallower in the water column. so you can use a slow retrieve reel for fish holding 40m below in water 5000m deep...if that makes sense.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem +1

      I would advise to get a proper rod and reel for slow jigging. For people who want to get into it, the "entry level reel we always advise to get is a 1500 Ocea Jigger for that depth. It is important to get the proper rod (with the right action) and the reel for this type of fishing because it is a very sensitive system. most people use jigs that are too heavy because they use braid that isn't up to spec. The rods are integral to the system as well...so that brand you are talking about is kind of not the right rod as well. Save your money for now and save up for the right rod, reel and line. It will be better for you in the long run. Going into this half hearted will only lead to problems and more spending to get things right.

Line keep breaking even we switch over to the wire. Both reels were death due to the main gears have been busted. I was kind of disappointed even Penn slammer 3 aka the tank, still got busted. Would you beef up the drag on a Shimano Ocea jigger 2000 more than what it comes with. To about 15kg and what website do you buy the drag washer from

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      if you beef up the drag, you will have a problem with the main gears and pinion. and you also have to take off the clicking drag...if you just want it stronger, yes, its possible, but you can't overdo it coz it will break the gears. lots of washers sold on ebay.

    • @TheFishingKit

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před 6 měsíci

      PE 3 is DIAMETER. DRAG IS FORCE....Look for the Approx poundage of your line and set at 1/4-1/2 of breaking strain depending on your fishing - L50 and L30 reels add (or subtract) .5kg for each position.
      From Strike to Fight is +1kg and max at +2kg.

    Question: Is their a minimal line capacity that you look for with these reels fishing 300 meters of water?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      line capacity is always a concern. If you have two reels, you can spool up wit just 300m...but if you only have one, its better to spool up with more. thats why you see people using a 2000 size OJ than a 1500 for the same depth - the 2000 holds more line...if you snag, you will have enough left over to fish...
      Another reason is the bigger your stack of line, the faster you gain line when reeling.

    • @ergogenic4780
      @ergogenic4780 Před rokem

      @@TheFishingKitYes I understand that you lose retrieval rate as the spool lets out more line so I would imagine there is a minimal line range you would like to keep on the spool at all times so that you stay close to the reels stated retrieval rate. Its probably a question you can not answer being that reels spools have different height and widths.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem +1

      @@ergogenic4780 The minimum you should keep your spools at is "always Full". that's the best answer you are going to get. Hard to do that with OJs. Especially when fishing around snags. A spare reel is always handy - that's why I have back ups. In the case of SOMs - you can take them apart in the field easily and you can buy spare spools for the reels.
      I would say the second best answer would be - Always have +200m on your deepest fishing depth. in the case of 300m, you need 500m of line. 200m of which would be your allowance.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      I haven't held this reel - but I will give you advise on this as I always do when people ask me about a certain brand reel..or buying gear in general. Firstly, when you buy anything fishing, you get what you pay for. Secondly, the more you buy obscure brands, the more you will spend down the line - so the best way to go about this do it like I do it now, before, I used to buy these obscure brands or new brands or something...that isn't "mainstream" - the result - I buy more stuff and I end up with a lot of junk. When you buy a reel, buy from brands like shimano, daiwa or better (for jigging reels, Studio Ocean Mark is pretty much at the top). When you buy these reels, you have access to parts, even if you have to buy it in japan, bearings need to be changed from time to time and other parts...for these other brands, they are pretty much throw away if something breaks. Save your money, save until you can get the proper stuff, buy ONCE and done.

Give it a try, you'll be impressed.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      If it works for you then that's great news.
      What I know is that each reel has its own limits, be it the weight, the gearing, etc. the list goes on and on. I have used Shimanos and Daiwas and countless other brands - recently, Studio Ocean Mark and after using these reels, I think I have found what I have been looking for. You get what you pay for in fishing...that's just the way it is and it has only been recently that I have actually found the reels that suit my needs for jigging. it weighs less than a comparable sized OJ, more powerful, modular...the list goes on and on. So, I am quite happy with them and will just add a few sizes, then that's it for me and jigging reels. I have know a couple of people that have these reels [the reel you mentioned], they were using them for a while, then sold them and went back to Ocea Jiggers, this is of course very subjecting...
