I love your idea to support small businesses by buying things you really aren't going to make for yourself for whatever reason. One I'll steal I think!

They are great resewlutions! Several of them hit home to me! For me the main focus in 2021 is to be more considered in my makes and more mindful, shopping from my stash predominantly! I will be aiming for slower, better finished makes rather than banging out half a dozen tee shirts! 😍❤️

I like your 20021 goals. I think that is a healthy way to go, getting away from "things" and moving towards a general focus or direction.
For me, if I say, "oh, I can make that" when it's not my expertise, it's usually because I really do want to learn that skill. I also find that if it doesn't get made then it really wasn't something I really wanted/needed anyway. It's okay to do without, AND, it's good to support small business entrepreneurs.

I sat nodding my head away whilst watching you talking about size inclusivity! Really important to talk about and encourage!

No resewlutions for me this year. I've made them repeatedly over the past years and haven't once kept them. This year I foresee it as a year of change and adapting to change, so I will focus on making practical things and using up my stash -- nickers, putting yoga waist bands on jeans, fitting a t-shirt pattern and sewing up a dozen of them. I find fitting myself extremely challenging so I really don't like sewing for myself but I have a huge fabric stash so I just need to learn. So I guess, really, learning to fit myself is my sewresolution.

I totally agree about the online pdf patterns. When they have pictures of outfits and they list the model is wearing my size, one of two things happen for me 1) If I think the outfit doesn't look right on the model (in my opinion)I don't have to waste my time and I appreciate that! Now if they didn't have a picture with a model and I made it and it looked awful, I would not want to buy another pattern from them! 2) Sometimes if the model looks good at my size and I didn't think it was the best pattern, I will buy the pdf and probably more (even if not all the pdf's have pictures! ) And I totally get you at the end about starting projects that might be out of the realm lol I'm trying to organize my sewing with a planner I think it's going as well as trying to put clothes on a chicken hahaha

Knowing the pattern size of the model would be really handy. It would be good to see more than 3 pattern testers of a new pattern as often companies only feature a few which are usually women of the same age or size.

Would love to see what kind of outfits you are planning, and what you do with your scraps. Just started getting Indi / PDF's during lockdown. What I have noticed about Sewist is that we all have very small but quirky things we have in common. Watching you earlier this year you had mentioned that you went to Unganda maybe in 2013.
I had just come back from Unganda in late 2012. I felt like it was really a small World, and to have all kinds of things in common with the community in the Sewing World keeps me focusing on just keeping our ever growing community going😊. Thanks for everything you do! Liz from S. Fla ☀️

Hi, congratulations on all your recent achievements and thank you for sharing honestly. I have been sewing for 50 years(I'm 60 now) and I am always excited to learn new things especially from young sewers. New to pdf patterns and loving them. Please keep inspiring all of us.

Well considered as usual, Laura! Your views on size inclusivity resonated especially with me. I realise that I have already adopted many of your suggested approaches without actually consciously deciding to do so - those you mentioned in the vlog and in your Instagram post on the subject.

I totally agree that the pattern companies should say what size the model is wearing. I sometimes find myself peering at the model to see how the fit looks on her - how wide is the neckline, how tight to the sleeves look.

Really enjoyed this one. Your final resewlution hugely resonated with me. I feel exactly the same way. Always see things I know I could make, but actually don't have the time, resources and skills to do so, and would much prefer to support small businesses making those things for a living. Spot on! 💛

Thank you so much for your honesty, it’s refreshing that you have projects that you don’t get around to doing and also your thoughts on sewing pattern manufacturers. I will definitely be doing the majority of these resolutions ☺️, starting with clearing my pattern stash and making the things that I’m desperate to do. I look forward to your videos for 2021 🤩

Love Notions is increasing their size range. And if you own the pattern, as the larger sizes come out they are encouraging people to redownload the pattern to get the larger sizes. I so understand the scary patterns one. I made a button down shirt. I did buttonholes, a collar, and cuffs for the first time. I was terrified the whole time. It was gratifying when I gave it to him and he immediately put it on!!

One of my hopes is instead of buying a new pattern that catches my eye, have a look at what patterns I do have and restyle them to look similar to the pattern I originally wanted to buy. Not that I don't want to support pattern designers, but I need to be more frugal. Another great vlog!

Itch-to-Stitch and Love Notions. Both have various cup sizes in their patterns so full bust adjustments are already done for you.
