    Favorite album from each year I was alive:
    2015 - Kids Bopz vol. 30
    2016 - Atrocity Exhibition
    2017 - Sesame Street Live on Broadway
    2018 - Kids Bopz vol. 42
    2019 - Peppa Pig (Self - Titled)
    Ik sesame street isn't their best album but its got that nostalgia factor so... And I went with atrocity exhibition since I too partake in the drugs

    @Take2Channel Před 4 lety +69

    Really enjoyed the video, but I can't help but find something sort of strange. It's odd to be making these lists that also include albums you don't seem to care much for or even seem to like as much as others on the list, maybe a top five list would've been more appropriate than a top ten. But either way, well made video with great recommendations!

      @@H1V3M1ND1 yeah that's fair, just doesn't come across very invested if your top ten of each year is "ehh you might like it". I'm not expecting Alfo to check out every single album of the year but at least enough to be passionate about what he's talking about!

      @dannygillespie6614 Před 4 lety +4

      I kind of agree. But also...can you find 10 particularly good albums from 1999? Some years are awesome and some aren't. I think we've gotten spoiled in the last few years as the internet has made it so easy to find, access, and listen to a ton of great music. I agree with the idea of nodding to things you don't particularly like but still respect.

    • @Take2Channel
      @Take2Channel Před 4 lety +3

      @@dannygillespie6614 I get ya. But with a video titled "My FAVOURITE albums of each year", it seems silly to include ones you don't care much about. Also for the sake of a shorter and more compelling video, five would have been plenty! Just seemed like an odd time filler.

      @dannygillespie6614 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Take2Channel Totally valid. But so far all the ones I'm noting to check out later are in that honorable mention level. The question is about the purpose of the video, right? Is it be definitive about favorites, or namedrop lots of great things we don't know about?

Toxicity, Lateralus, Blackwater Park, Is This It, White Blood Cells, Jane Doe, Mutter, Amnesiac, the glow pt2, Leaves turn inside you, the dreadful hours, vespertine, terria, no more shall we part, the argument, origin of symmetry and i am probably forgetting some.

    Here are my albums that I love from each year (From the year of my birth to now):
    2004: Arcade Fire - Funeral (Yeah, It is so obvious but god Neighborhood #1 is one of the best tracks to open an album like this) No honorable mentions cause I'm not really a guy that listens to stuff that came out on his birth year but maybe Kanye West's debut album would be my choice.
    2005: A Silver Mt. Zion - Horses in the Sky (I know, it isn't Godspeed but this project is still an incarnation of GY!BE. All of the 6 songs are some of the best pieces that have cinematic arrangements (whilst keeping the GY!BE viibes throughout the album) Out of all of the songs two of my favorites "God Bless Our Dead Marines" and "Teddy Roosevelt's Guns" are some of the best tracks to have the story told in a tongue of an super anarchist (this is in fact an album with vocals, but it still keeps the sheer anarchy and destruction of GY!BE in the lyrics of these two songs) The lines like "Oh canada, I've never been your son" on track 4 "Teddy Roosevelt's Guns" or "And all them vulgar kings on their dirty thrones, Who among us will avenge us Ms. Nina Simone" on track 1 "God Bless Our Dead Marines" are probably the most heartbreaking lines that somehow have a meaning behind it. But as the cinematic arrangements of these 6 tracks go, The title track is very depressing while it is still an ASMZ song, The song's sheer tragedy is in the lines like "And our schools look like prisons, And our prisons look like malls, And downtown is just a sick parade, Where no one cares at all." are some of the tragic lines that in fact fittingly describe how our world looks like now while some think that the world is okay. While it is not really everyone's cup of tea (e.g. the screams at the end of track 4 and the aggressive voice of Efrim Manuel Menuck) Horses in the Sky is (alongside with He Has Left Us Alone...) ASMZ at their furthermost best. Check this out if you're a fan of GY!BE and other inspired stuff)
    Honorable Mentions:
    Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel (This is my favorite Depeche Mode album and there is a reason behind it, Gore's haunting lyrics and Gahan's strong voice is what makes this album what it is. In fact, Gahan also makes it's debut as a songwriter to the band (Paper Monsters was the real one that made it but yeah) there is also an very dark aspect that makes this album very dark (such as the finale to "I Want It All" and the morose instrumental "Introspectre" if you love dark moody electronic stuff like this, then give this a shot. But it is still not a perfect album but it is what it is. Masterpiece in my opinion.
    Low - The Great Destroyer (This surprisingly is my least favorite out of theirs but again I'm putting it here cause it was praised by fans but it is not really my cup of tea. California is a great song though. And this album is not available on the country that I live so I haven't got a second chance to listen to it.)
    Sigur Rós - Takk (The beautiful ambience and Jónsi's falsetto are the reason why I became in love with this band. But this album is also a masterpiece as it is praised by fans a lot. (ágætis byrjun was also great but not as well-crafted as takk) I think that it is a bit boring at times. But boy do the amps crack up on the finale of "Glósóli" as the guitars and drums go into a joyfully deafening crescendo that doesn't bore any post-rock fan at all. (Again, this album is not everyone's cup of tea if they are not a fan of this stuff) "Hoppípolla" is maybe the band's most accessible song ever, as people have known this song since it first bumped into the trailers of BBC's Planet Earth series. It is a masterful album and I'm glad that it existed.
    2006: Tool - 10,000 Days (Imagine one day they told you that your mother was dead 27 years after she got paralyzed? That is what the LA-based prog metal band is trying to describe in their final album before their comeback in 13 years with Fear Inoculum. The album has a lot of tearjerking moments not just in the music but also in Maynard James Keenan's lyrics on the two-part suite "Wings for Marie (Part 1)" and "10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)" lines like "Oh, what are they gonna do when the lights go down? Without you to guide them all to Zion?" are probably the most breathtaking lines that Maynard has wrote. But what's even more breathtaking are the lines that were at the end of these songs, such as "See? I'm alright, now. It's time for us to let you go." on "Wings for Marie (Part 1)" and "I never lived a lie, never took a life, But surely saved one. Hallelujah, It's time for you to bring me home." on ""10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)". There are other cuts that are great such as "Jambi" and the opener "Vicarious" but it will be that long if I mention all the album but again, It's a great album and I'm glad that it existed just like Takk.
    Honorable Mentions:
    Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me (Their legacy will be forever remembered after this album, And there is a reason why, Because of Jesse Lacey's lyrics and the atmospheric arrangements of songs like "Limousine" and "Luca" also there is a fact that why some of the songs are epic cause they tell a story throughout the song. Whether it is a drunken driver making a car accident just to make the 7-year old girl result to her death, But there is more to the story, I prefer you to check it out, or confessing death to Jesus in of course "Jesus Christ". It is a great album and it is what we consider "the perfect pop punk album". Masterpiece as always!
    2007: Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone (What do you do when you have came back from your vacation and realized that everybody is gone, You say "All of a sudden I miss everyone". But jokes aside, This album from this post-rock band from Texas has some of the best pieces that the band has ever done, Whether it is the beautiful sound of tracks like "The Birth and Death of the Day" and also "Welcome, Ghosts". But the band did actually save the best one for last which is "So Long, Lonesome" which is revolved around this simple yet beautiful piano melody that is breathtaking at the same time, As the song builds up with cymbal swells (a common element of the post-rock bands from 2000s.) it feels like you're finally coming home after all this time. Masterpiece in my opinion!
    Couldn't think of an honorable mention this time around but maybe Low's Drums and Guns would be my choice.
    2008: A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons (While not as symphonic and cinematic as their 2003 album This is Our Punk Rock or not as cinematic and tragic as their 2005 masterpiece Horses in the Sky, ASMZ has yet again shown no sign of stopping at their cinematic arrangements and tragic lyrics. Before the album actually begins, we get 12 short tracks that are just feedbacking through a minute. But while "1,000,000 Died to Make This Sound" is a requiem for nature, "Black Waters Blowed/Engine Broke Blues" is the most unstable track on the record as the drummer Eric Craven plays on a clumsy children's style that might be unsettling for some people who are not into GY!BE-esque stuff, And "BlindBlindBlind" is very Baroque-esque since it has a chord progression blurring the lines of Pachelbel's Canon in D and Bach's Air on G String. But asides from these aspects the band hasn't lost it's tragic lyrics about death on "1,000,000 Died to Make This Sound", fascist lines like "No homeland for the gentle-hearted, Lack and tears for the young departed" on "Black Waters Blowed/Engine Broke Blues". While still it is not as beautiful as their earlier efforts like He Has Left Us Alone or Horses in the Sky, A Silver Mt. Zion has in fact shown no sign of stopping unlike GY!BE did in 2003. Masterpiece in my opinion!
    No honorable mentions again but if I had to then it would be Sigur Rós' Með suð i eyrum við spilum endalaust.
    2009: Depeche Mode - Sounds of the Universe (While it is not as dark and morose as their 2005 album Playing the Angel, The band once again made an album that would also become my seccond favorite of theirs, The album's opener "In Chains" starts off with something that resembles a guitar feedback noise and also something that GY!BE have done in their 1999 EP Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada. But then some songs like e.g. "Jezebel" have pretty unsettling lyrics while it also shows a meaning throughout the song. Then the album closes out with the band's edgiest song "Corrupt" where the lyrics are much darker as it is about corrupting someone, but what's more darker is the hidden track that follows at 8:16, which is after 3 minutes of silence where the last track ended, The hidden track is in fact the third track "Wrong" but more creepier and sinister this time as it seems like everything has ended but the unresolved note which is resolved in the original track tells us that it's not over and there is much more to come. Other than that, If you're a fan of these dark electronic rock stuff, give this a shot, it will be a long ride though. Masterpiece in my opinion!

    I could write about albums you missed from each year, but the one record i could talk your ear off about is Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid (2008). It is incredibly warm and beautiful and from front to back is a celebration of love. If nothing else can sell you on it, TSSK beat In Rainbows and Burial's Untrue to the highly prestigious Mercury prize in 08!
