PRODIGY INVITATIONAL TEAM SHOWDOWN

It's the Second Annual PRODIGY Invitational Team Showdown, and back to defend his team's crown is last year's team captain, Tyrell Ingalls. The other team captain this time is Logan Fossum. The two held a player draft to fill out their teams. Each team is comprised of six players, but only five bowl in each game, so team captains must decide who sits in each game. But no player is allowed to sit for more than one game.
This unique PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR team format consists of three rounds:
Round 1: Five on five. Team total pins decides the winner. The team with the higher pinfall in the game is awarded 3 Points.
Round 2: Baker. Best 2 out of 3. The first team to win 2 games in this best-of-3 set is declared the winner of Round 2 and is awarded 3 points.
So a team could be up 6 or down 6 after the first two rounds, but could steal the crown in the PRODIGY Invitational Team Challenge with a strong third round.
Round 3: Five on five Match Play. Five bowlers will bowl one complete game. Player 1 on each team will compete against each other. Player 2 will compete against each other. And so on. Each individual is vying for 1 Match Point. So there are 5 individual points at stake here. Plus, the team with the higher total pinfall in the game is awarded 3 more pins. So in all, 8 points are in play in Round 3.
So even if your team is down 6-0 going into Round 3, you could sweep all five matches and take the title, 8-6. Or if your team won 4 of its matches and total pins, they'd win 7 points, while the other team would win the remaining point, and we'd have a 7-7 tie, leading to sudden death to decide the winner of the PRODIGY Invitational Team Showdown.
You're familiar with all twelve players except one newcomer who's making her first appearance on the show.

Randy I would just like to chime in. I totally understood what you were saying about the comment. I actually got a pretty good laugh out of it. The real reason I had to leave that day is due to my senior project I had to complete. I was late for a session at a local pro shop that was providing me assistance with my senior project. The project was learning the skills of a pro shop professional, and that day I forgot I had another session scheduled there. But besides that, I love bowling prodigies and plan to bowl as many as I can. That day I just had to finish the final touches of my senior project. You are a great coach and person and I knew exactly what you meant.
Josh you know you're aces with me. Except...what are you doing awake at this hour? It's 230 AM!! (Wait a minute...what am *I* doing up at this hour??!!) LOL!
I just have a question Randy. Do you see the little icon next to the like/dislike button, the one with the heart on the brownswickbowling logo? If so, does it mean that person is subscribed to the channel or something? Because I see it all the time on comments on different channels, but never on my own comments. I'm curious what it means and why I only see it on other people's comments

Like I’ve said, I love what you do for the youth of our sport. You put so much effort into conducting these events, as well as editing and everything behind the scenes. I wish I had this as a junior bowler. It truly is underrated the amount of good that you do for the bowlers. Huge thank you.

And good thing I don't have to compete with him just yet in Junior Gold lol. By the time I get to his age group, he probably will have already WON the USBC Masters.

By the way in the big Logan M/What sorcery is this strike i think it was the head pin that came back around! I've never seen that! Wowza!
Love your show and their to many people in every body business. You do a good job with the kids. I've had people talk trash about me and they don't even know me. I just go bowl do good and Don't listen to all the junk so you know it's not true. So just keep doing a good job with the kids.

Now as far as the opening "rant," please allow me to weigh in on the situation. As to whether or not you were out of line, the ONLY person whose opinion in this matter really matters is Josh. If he thinks that you were out of line, then you may owe him an apology (and I am reasonably sure that he watched the video and heard your comment). Somehow I don't think that Josh was offended by your comment (just like LoFo didn't seem to be offended about your joking around about his height in that scene from this week's episode).
No questions for this week (only a thank you for all the really hard work that you put into this week's episode). BTW for those who watch on a regular basis you really should check out Randy's livestream when he and Christian were beginning the editing process on this video.
Randy I wish i had a program and support like the program you run had. My program was the few kids that parents bowled then my the outcast. Never got the help to correct some things that were bad until i went to college and bowled adult league elsewhere. It is sad people get on their soapbox and try to bring down good people if i ever am in Georgia i will be going out of my way to come see yall bowl.

Not a big fan of the two handed style, but I love watching Josh D and Tyrell... they’re both so smooth and so well balanced at the line!!
Where I'm from we have a tournament with a similar format. Our 6 bowling alley that are near each other choose the 5 top boys and 5 top girls for handicap and the 5 top scratch bowlers. We bowl 1 game head to head the lead off bowler bowl each other and so on. Then we bowl 5 bakers game and then a final team game. I love this kind of team format!

An anonymous complaint from someone who: (a) doesn't have the guts to give their name; (b) doesn't understand plain-spoken American English, and (c) has no sense of humour? Randy, I can understand your desire to address this, but don't let it take up any more time and space in your head. The complaint is frivolous and not worth your time, and as he notes below, Joshua wasn't offended. Keep up the great work - the good you do for these young bowlers will last them a lifetime.

I posted on this a few years prior, but I wanted to add one more thing. That fact that the USBC even bothered to entertain the complaint, go through the process, send a letter informing Randy of the complaint and doing an investigation rather than dismissing it outright and chastizing the complainer for a baseless, malicious grievance, is a complete failure on their part. Then again, these are the same people that unnecessarily created a giant hassle for two-handed and one handed thumbless bowlers by passing the no thumbhole rule.
What an absolutely embarrassment and sham of an organization that needs to be burned to the ground.

Coach Randy..I'm so sorry that you were so misunderstood ! I can't believe that someone thought you were saying a derogatory comment. You are an incredible communicator and youth bowler advocate.....for both women and men both. What you said was easy to understand that you were ribbing josh about possibly choosing a girlfriend over bowling. I've listened to the said episode ( and 99% of all other episodes ) and have never heard Randy say anything out of line. I've never even heard a swear word! To go over his head to USBC was cowardly in my book. You need to learn to communicate mr/ms. Anonymous . You should have went to Randy first....part of communication is knowing the speakers heart...is this something that happens on a regular basis? Is he of good rapport, is he honorable, kind, loving etc.....I think you would find that Randy consistently is for the kids both male and female....I know he is for Josh! He admires him...you can tell! He praises Josh's his ability ,personality and ethics frequently.....by the way did you ask Josh what he thought Randy was saying..I bet not..I also bet that Josh would have thought what the majority of us would have thought....Randy was teasing Josh about leaving for a girl...not being a girl. Where is your grace? You guys are in the belt buckle of the Bible Belt .....Are you a Christian...it's a biblical principle to go to your brother first if you have something against them.....I've managed as many as 175 people and many, many situations...Randy is innocent in this instance . You need to issue a public apology and withdraw your USBC complaint..its just the right thing to do! One last thought ..how would you feel if you were Randy...How would you feel at your job if someone at your job had a problem with you...didn't talk to you about it the immediately went to your Bosses Boss? ......Okay ! Sorry Randy, Sorry Josh that your in the middle- you definitely don't deserve this, sorry prodigy bowlers you are ALL awesome including Josh and Randy! I still LOVE THIS SHOW!

I’d like to say a few things:
A. The teams should’ve been Team Outsiders .vs. Team Roswell. My reasoning is that on team LoFo, all but Josh C. bowls in Roswell, while everyone in Team Tyrell is from other alleys (except Toni sense I haven’t seen where she’s from yet. Just daw the drafting)
B. Why would someone complain to USBC about a comment you made? Not to mention, an ANONYMOUS tip? I mean, if you’re not going to directly message someone about a complaint, why be anonymous? Are you afraid? Sheesh...... Honestly, you’re a great man and many of the bowlers have kept me passionate about the sport. Heck, I’m soon going to get my first reactive resin ball and learn to hook. These bowlers are amazing and you are a great man Randy. (Not to mentions, the jokes and comments you make are hilarious) I wish well with the kids and the show. Hope that the show will be great!

On lane 38 when the bowling machine was stalled . Randy mentioned that there was a 180 .A call for a 180 means the rack of pins never was set and the bowler is staring at an empty pin deck.
180 also refers to the position of the bowling machine....🙂 just sayin..anything I forget?
David Talkington 180 is actually when the rake in down on the deck, not when the bowler is staring at an empty deck.
Coach...you might consider having a dry lane clinic for the kids. They will see this condition from time to time, especially in other parts of the country.

This complaint wasn't a misunderstanding, it was blatantly dishonest. No one with half a brain should have misinterpreted what Rand said I had to listen to it 5 times to even figure out what the objection was
This person was nothing more than an attention-seeking cretin, and a cowardly one for not even putting his name on it (I am not against anonymous complaints, but this person did it anonymously because they know they were doing the wrong thing), and there should be serious ramifications for anyone who does something like that.
Hey Randy do Lamar and Langston still bowl league/prodigy?
Just a guy who bowls I know people asked about Lamar and will help Randy. Lamar apparently never came back this season. He’s addressed this in the comments in other PRODIGY episodes. He was said to be quiet and never told people if he was coming back or not, so they don’t know why he left. For Langston on the other hand, I think he might. Check “The Day the Lights Went Out in Georgia” (or whatever episode Randy mentioned Charlie’s 800 sanctioned series) and see if you can him in the background.
Lamar did not return to bowl with us in the 2017-18 season. I have my suspicions as to why, but it doesn't matter. He's a good kid, and I'd welcome him back in a flash. I don't know if he bowled elsewhere this season or if he just stopped bowling. I do know that his mom stopped by the bowling center a week or two ago asking about awards/trophies that were locked away that he never picked up for the 2016-17 season that we handed out at our season-ending awards presentation ceremony in May, 2017. Waited a whole year to come get 'em. Go figure.
And yes, Langston still bowls with us. Or at least he did this past season. The big guy is quiet when you first meet him, but as he opens up to you, he's got a great personality and is funny as can be. I hope to see him back this Fall.

Why does Tyrell have a interchangeable thumb in his equipment. I don’t see him inserting his thumb. I might be wrong though
Tyrell uses his thumb. In fact we just went through a recent span change to help his release. His thumb plays a big part in his control.

How many bowlers do you have on Prodigy Bowlers Tour
You know, we have a nucleus of -- heck, I don't know, maybe a dozen or 15 or so -- players who routinely stay after league and bowl PRODIGY. Then there's another 10 or 12 who sometimes make the trip from nearby bowling centers where they bowl league. Then there are the once in a blue moon bowlers.. Our average size field is only maybe 12 to 15 kids. But once in a while we push 20 or more. Our largest field ever was 34 people. But last year, we had something like 100 kids come bowl PRODIGY at least once in the calendar year. And we have viewers all over the world, many of whom want to come bowl with us sometime.

How many pba titles did you get on tour
None. My best finishes were 8th and 11th. I sat on the lead for a short while in the event where I finished 8th. It was my second PBA tournament.

I was aware of that mistake when I posted the show. Here's what happened:
I discovered some mistakes in the scoring (there may be others...this was a beast to edit). I went in and made the corrections (the ones I found), and that resulted in a different pinfall total for Team Tyrell in Round One. But I had already done the voiceover for that recap (it happens two or three times on the show when I recap the previous action). The number in the graphic is accurate. But I forgot to go in and do a voiceover pickup to correct what I said. Rather than going back and doing it over yet again, I just decided to leave it in. Nothing is ever perfect.
You should monetize your vids to make some money for your hard work!!!! And you can fund tournaments or free ball raffles or something like that!!

The USBC complaint is hilarious. If you look at Josh, you can readily see that he would not be the kind of person to back down from a challenge, nor do I think he would ever need to act like someone else, boy or girl, man or woman. He's Josh, watch him bowl. What I really don't understand, with my lifelong experience bowling, is why you, Randy, are not a Gold Level coach. I listen assiduously to every comment you make about throwing the bowling ball.
I think it takes a lot of extra time and money to take all the classes needed to become a Gold Level coach. At least that's what my high school coach (Silver) tells us.
I've been watching this show since I came across it towards the beginning of the season. I usually don't comment, but. Just hearing about this issue has me frustrated. I hope that a hole is reading the comments. Obviously he or she is mad about something. Fine whatever. If Randy is that bad. Why don't you grow a set and confront him about whatever you're mad about? I've been watching this show for months. Randy has not once said anything controversial. If you think he has. Clearly you're just looking for a fight that isn't their to begin with.

For crying out loud. Leave it to an adult to try and ruin things for kids. Youth sports needs a lot more adults like yourself. Sadly youth sports has too many whistle blowers and adults who try to get involved in every little aspect when they shouldn't. I'm hardly a USBC support because I think they do a lot of dumb things, but I'm sure if they have an ounce of common sense nothing will come from this and it will all get swept under the rug where it belongs. What you said was a non issue.

I found several scoring errors. Fixed as many as I could. Not surprising to me that there were some I missed. They don't affect the outcome. The scoring was right in the bowling center. It's just the graphics I put up on screen that were wrong in a few cases. The bigger surprise is that there aren't more of them than there are.

Not exactly. I am moving. But not out of the area. We'll be back with Season 3 this Fall. We took July and August off last year, too. I'll need that time to get moved, settled and to recharge my batteries.
