    PINNED: * PLEASE, DO NOT POST SPOILERS! *
    Also, a word about LOWBALL...
    Yes, as you'll hear me mention in the commentary, I know there are different ways of playing Lowball. For this episode, I chose the somewhat easier way of playing it. In the more common form of Lowball, you have to knock down at least 1 pin on each ball. If you don't, you're credited with a strike (first ball) or a spare (second ball). In hindsight, I kinda wish we'd have played it that way this time. But we didn't. If we ever play Lowball again on PRODIGY, I'll most likely choose the more common form of Lowball described above. But this was the first time our kids played Lowball, and I didn't want to make it too difficult. Hey, it's Christmas, after all. :-)

    Coach, I've watched a lot of your videos and learn a bit from your youth bowlers as an older bowler myself. This one was very special seeing little Hunter do so well in the different games you played. A huge thumbs up to Jesse to bow out and let Hunter get a chance at the final round. It broke my heart so see Hunter let the best of his emotions to get away from him; but that's how much of a competitor he is. I recently had the front nine on my Sunday league and got the tenth. The eleventh shot; well not so good. I turned my wrist for no reason and sent the ball wide rolling over the thumb hole and only covered nine. I thought I should have thrown myself on the floor like Hunter did but I'm a bit older and I'd need some help getting back up. He didn't want at strike and I REALLY needed one. That's how this game is. Letting him sign the trophy pin is proof positive what you do with these kids will live with them forever. Congrats to Nick, Hunter and Coach Randy.

    You have a great bunch of kids there. I remember my junior coach and she was a wonderful lil lady who took the kids under her wings and taught them, she taught me how to bowl and I now bowl in 3 leagues a week and avg from 215-227 . You are doing a great job Randy keep it up!!! I miss Logan F on here but its ok as long as Faith is on she is like a lil firecracker and she throws a good ball.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 5 lety

      If you watched through to the very end, then you heard me say what I feel about this group of kids. They're awesome. And Logan F. is awesome, too. But this series was never intended to be "The Logan Show" (or the Any-Other-Kid Show). You know, the other kids who appear read these comments, too, and I suspect they get tired of reading all the "Where is Logan?" comments. One of them even mentioned it to me, saying, "What about those of us who DO bowl on the show? What about us?" And that kid was right. So I've gone to pretty much deleting most all the "Where's Logan?" comments from now on. He's got his own channel, and they can ask him there. He's always welcome to bowl with us. I'd like for him to give Nick some competition. But it's his call. And I'm perfectly okay with the kids we have being the stars of the show. PRODIGY is bigger than any one player.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 5 lety +1

      I gave him a lesson recently and we basically focused on two areas: One to get him into the habit of checking his feet every time and knowing PRECISELY where he's standing. (He didn't on the shot that ended his chances. He just grabbed his ball and took off.) And second, to really work on sticking the landing at the foul line. When he does, he's usually on point.

    Me and a bunch of my bowling friends play low ball all the time to help practice on making you're ten and seven pin spares. But how we play is if you make the ten pin you have to hit a pin on you're next ball so that's why we go after the seven pin. Everything else is the same. Gutter strike. Second ball gutter spare. Don't know if we are doing it wrong. Was wondering why they didn't go for the 7 pin,it's so easy to hit it without really hitting other pins.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 2 lety +1

      Hunter was not alone. In the five years we did PRODIGY in the Atlanta area, I saw a lot of crying from a lot of players, including a few who shed a tear over not making the cut to advance to be on the show. Sometimes I even saw tears on the faces of older kids from whom you wouldn't have expected it. But I always considered it a healthy sign that they cared -- they cared about winning. When you consider all the kids in America these days who don't care -- kids who've grown up getting "participation trophies" just for showing up (something I abhor), I always thought we were doing something good for these kids by instilling in them a drive to do their best.

      @@ProdigyBowlersTour They are all better bowlers than me. Im a left handed 19 year old male (obviously) my birthday is (2-4-03) and I haven't bowled in like 4 or 5 years. And don't plan on it for a while longer because I hurt my arm the last time. But yeah hunter is the only one I ever saw cry, and videos I see with him in and bowling I always vote for him to win because he seems so excited about participating and wanting to put his name on the trophy pin which I say is very cool. He's not the only kid I vote for, I vote for Rowan and Christian and Charlie and sometimes Logan F. I haven't seen LOFO in quite a while.

    @blockcl Před 5 lety

    Wow! that was a real roller-coaster ride. Best of the season to you and everyone at Prodigy! And know for something completely different.. I've noticed that there are very few left handers on Prodigy. Is this something specific to BZ Roswell or just a current lack of LHers in your junior program? At my home house it's 15% across all demographics. Any thoughts on this?

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 5 lety

      You know, we don't have a single left-hander in our youth leagues. I have no idea why. The last lefty that we had in our youth program was Megan Thorncroft, who's been in college now for...let's see...I think this is her second (maybe third) year in college (she bowls on her college team). Perhaps her most memorable appearance on PRODIGY was on the 12/17/2016 episode.
      Come to think of it, I can't think of very many left-handers who bowl league at Brunswick Zone Roswell in adult leagues, either. I'm sure there must be some. But at one time or another, I bowled in leagues there on every night of the week except Tuesday, and I just can't recall many southpaws in that house. There is one big, strapping right-handed guy who throws a backup ball and revs the snot out of it (he bowled 300 in league a year or two ago). But not many lefties in that house.
      I've never heard a lefty say the house is especially difficult for lefties, but now that you mention it, the only left-handed winner we've had on PRODIGY that I can recall was a young visitor named Brandon Jho, who won in the Littles Division once last season and bowls league over at Brunswick Zone Lilburn.
      Frankly, there aren't that many notable left-handers in the Atlanta area that come to mind. Certainly there are a few. But less than you'd think there ought to be. Probably the best lefty we've had on PRODIGY is Dawson Stewart, who's appeared a few times, and was Georgia's Youth Bowler of the Year a couple of years ago.

      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 5 lety +1

      It's one of the hardest things to learn, especially when you haven't yet developed the strength to do it. Plus, they thing they have to get around the ball to hook it, when in fact, these modern balls are built to hook.

That way we can stay connected and you'll hear of any changes in venue or taping schedule. I always strongly urge visitors to let me know when they're coming. I'd hate for someone to go to all the trouble to show up and then get there and find out we're off that week. That would suck.

      @ProdigyBowlersTour  Před 5 lety

      You'll need to bring it. Some of these kids are 200+ average and, as I'm sure you are if you bowl a lot of tournaments, are all very accustomed to bowling on sport shots. Most PRODIGY episodes are bowled on sport shots. But we do occasionally bowl on the house shot. I'd say it's about 75/25 sport/house.
