- Installed some tailgate security with the Toyota Tailgate Power Lock. I really like that this is a simple install and that its something you can add to your Tacoma directly from Toyota.

Hello Mumfy. I went with Pop N Lock tailgate system from TacoClout. Works well, much quieter than most talk about on web. I ran wiring on drivers side due to no heat protection on wiring or ties. Works great, just one push of unlock or lock to operate. I really did not think it would be something I so useful but it is once you have it I installed on truck. Connecting the two wires to existing in kick panel was so simple. One thing I did was use extra tie wraps along frame, I think every 8" or so just in case of a failed wrap. Thanks again Mumfy!

I ran the wire on the outside if the frame so the wire wasn't so close to the exhaust. Nice install video.
I thought about running that way and figured running it the way i did would help with any stray branch snags.
Hi Murphy on the tacoma pop an lock (I just saw your video on it )I was wondering if it connected up to your key fobs remotely by its self or did you have to do something to fob or contact someone to connect it to truck lock? If you could please let me know it would be much appreciated I'm almost 70 years old but your video should help me alot doing the install Thanks much bud nice vid. Appreciate it!
The Toyota tailgate lock is tied into the door locks when installed correctly. No need to “connect” it to the fob. Just make sure to unlock the whole truck not just the driver door.

Do you think I could link the power lock actuator to a aftermarket remote start key fob? I can lock my doors with it but don't know if I could see the power lock to the remote start key fob...
I would think that it would work because the tailgate lock is linked to the rest of the door locks. Under the infotainment menu you can change how the doors lock and unlock. I have mine set to unlock all doors and the tailgate connects to the rest of the doors.

It is.
Will the tailgate lock and unlock using the door handle?
Yes. You will need to go under the settings and switch the door unlock option to "ALL". This will unlock/lock all of the doors and the tailgate.

I have already switched to all unlock.
I was wondering if everything including tailgate will lock and unlock when I touch the door handle. My SR5 has touch handle to unlock and put thumb and finger on door handle to lock.

What year is your? Trying to figure out if it connects to drivers side or passenger because I also have a 23 tacoma.
