    Thanks!
That was a super lesson. Choosing the correct preposition is important.
Regarding the debate over "different to" and "different from," the former is recognized in both British and American English. One may use "different to" when the subject in the sentence is the same.
The weather is different to what it was yesterday.
    Is that right?
"Of" and "for" can also cause confusion.
"That review of The Hunger Games was accurate" is correct; however, it doesn't sound absurdly wrong to say "That review for The Huger Games was accurate."

I actually found a clip of an American correcting someone who said "different to," not knowing it was acceptable in other varieties of English. Before I became a teacher, I would have thought it was a mistake as well! Here's what Britannica says (formerly Merriam-Webster's learning dictionary):
      www.britannica.com/dictionary/different
Prepositions can stump natives and non-natives alike!

It is easy to see how the use of "different to" can cause confusion.
I would say that consistency is key and that "different from" is far more common, even in British English.

    1. There is a huge difference between those ones. We can't compare them, to be honest. It's like comparing a Tesla car and Ford Model A. They both have 4 wheels, chairs and steering wheel... but there isn't anything else in common. There is a huge gulf between them.
    2. In my mind, "gloating" is more about how people are able to handle THE PAIN (physical/psychological).
    3. Almost every movie's based on the struggling between good and evil. That's the general idea of our existence.
    4. I would say... burnout at work is the most common reason of getting frustrated with a job.
    5. Our life is a great movie starting with a big scene (birth process) and ending with a dramatic event (...)

      1. Well, we can appreciate the simplicity and the openness of the original automobiles. In some ways, the internet was also limited yet simpler in its earlier days.
      2. Or perhaps they're experiencing or have experienced pain, so they need to gloat to feel good.
      3. What about romantic comedies? Would you say they have a theme of good vs. evil? I think children's animated films often have a clear villain, like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
      4. Agreed.
      5. That's true. I was thinking of action movies, like the original Twister. It starts with a big tornado.
