    My children's favorite topic.😊 I did not learn IPA at school; my teachers didn't know about it. I learned it from online teachers like you at the University level. Now I teach my students about it too. It is a great tool that helps speak and understand real English.

      It's a choice. Do you find the tool useful or not? Which set of symbols do you think are most accessible? I used some variations in this video, but these are the ones I feel are more easily recognizable.

    Ayyyyyyy IPA I felt very difficult for me , but it is excellent video 😳😳🙃🙃🙃

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You can learn it if you want. 😃 You can do it! Part of the challenge is that different resources (teachers, dictionaries, textbooks) use slightly different transcriptions. It's an interesting learning process that really heightens your awareness of the different sounds.

    Great video once again...Voiced and Unvoiced sounds are a bit challenging for non native speakers like me😢
    As per your recommendation,I have started practising grammar from Betty Azar's books...Those books are really amazing but I think Prepositions topic isn't covered in any of her books...
    Could you please suggest any books for Prepositions as I am very weak in that topic?😢

      There's a link to my lesson voiced/unvoiced consonants in the video description. As for prepositions, there are many online interactive exercises you can try. Here's my playlist on prepositions. czcams.com/play/PLfQSN9FlyB6TT9yUCjC6QLTMphzLq2Ay0.html Feel free to post questions as you watch the lessons.

    Hello , I from VIETNAMESE . I found your channel via google website . I really want to learn English so I can pass the school exam and be able to communicate normally but I can't find a learning method for myself . I don't even know how to write or communicate normally , because I'm very poor at English . I commented on your page and had to use google to translate and type each word. If there are any mistakes , please forgive me . I just want to improve my ENGLISH . Can you give me a solution ? I don't know and I've just started learning . Thank you for reading my comment .😮‍💨😔🥺🥰😇

      Use the tools and resources you have. There is much you can do for free. Here are my videos.
      www.englishwithjennifer.com/students/yt-videos/
      Mistakes are part of learning. Identify your goals and the resources you can use.
      Form a plan. Can you study a little each day or maybe for 30 minutes three times a week? Create a schedule that works for you.
      I have tips on my website. :) When you watch one of my videos, you can ask questions.

    Hopefully you will not think that I'm a boaster, but I speak 4 foreign languages (apart from my mother tongue which is Uzbek).
    1) Tajik
    2) Russian
    3) English
    4) German (not so perfect as Germans do)
    That's a pity I don't have English friends😊

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's wonderful! My Russian is decent but very far from perfect. I'm working on Spanish now. I have extremely limited understanding in French and even less in Portuguese. I've forgotten most of the Japanese I learned in college.

      @@Englishwithjennifer It's cool that you shared your experience. I'm also thinking of learning Spanish, but I am sure it will be a hard nut to crack it considering the fact that there genders in Spanish too (as in the German language). Languages with genders are like the pain in the neck🤭

    sorry, but 'YES' is /jɛs/, and 'YET' is /jɛt/, not like shown in your presentation

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thank you for noting that variation. I noted it as well. As I stated, there are different phonetic alphabets based on the IPA. Different resources present these variations. As I mentioned, I like to refer to the Longman Dictionary of American English as well as textbooks like Rebecca Dauer's. They both use /y/. Different online dictionaries have variations of the IPA. Some use /j/, and others use /y/. I prefer the latter because it's more easily recognizable. If learners gain familiarity with one system, they'll be able to work with others with just a bit of effort to recognize variations.
