    Seiko's own E6B-style Pilot chronograph. An alarm and chronograph ... or a dual time zone on a traditional mini-dial ... hardlex crystal ... 5-beat chrono second hand which looks like a traditional ticking mechanical second hand ... the nicely polished case on the Seiko's sides. Lots of aftermarket Synthetic Saphire crystals available for the Flighty ... plus a cult following, particularly for a Flighty with a French parachute elastic strap in olive green with a thin yellow center stripe. The dial just says "I'm PACKED with precision stuff!". Mine's averaging just over one second slow per month ... keeping up with my Bulova 262s! I didn't expect that from a standard 32KHZ crystal, man; that was a real surprise! And I have absolutely no problem with changing a battery in a quartz movement once every three years. Walk in the park and the battery runs $2.69.
    Get the Flighty ... trust Seiko!

    Both great watches! To make them even better (change movements, but keep the exact looks): - Nighthawk could be better if it was atomic (Citizen has the technology, already). - Flightmaster could be solar (Seiko has he technology, already).

    Enjoyed your presentation very much mate. Nice clear, concise review of both watches & simple, no nonsense detailing of the differences between both watches. I have only recently become interested in collecting watches (Started off collecting Antique Pocket watches & now I am venturing into wrist watches) so a side by side review of these watches is a great help to someone like me who is just starting out. Keep up the great work!

    After looking at some comparison videos about the Nighthawk and the Flightmaster I like the Flightmaster more. So I wanted to get one but it was hard to find and owners were selling for a lot more. A few months back while I was in Costco I came across the blue Nighthawk and right away liked the looks of, so I decided to buy it thinking I wasn’t going to be able to buy a Flightmaster because of the price. Then a few weeks ago I got a notification from Massdrop that the Flightmaster was available so I bought it. Just recently I received it and was so excited to open it, but I was surprised about the quality of the watch. It looks smaller than the size also. Don’t get me wrong its still a nice watch but compared to my Nighthawk, the Flightmaster was a bit disappointing.

  • @gerhardsteenkamp562
    @gerhardsteenkamp562 Před 5 lety +2

    I prefer the Citizen! The build quality is better and it seems like a lot more thought has gone into trying to make the dial less cluttered. The milled swingarm on the bracelet as well as the signed crown at 3 o clock are details that usually call for a higher price. So at $200 this is a steal.

  • @slekic
    @slekic Před 5 měsíci

    I’ve owned a Seiko for more than 25 years and I like it a lot. But I think the Citizen has one clear advantage: the internal bezel. I’ve had to replace the external one on the Seiko because it gets nicked and scratched a lot as part of normal wear and tear. To the point it gets illegible after a few years of wear.

  • @gicyu812
    @gicyu812 Před 4 lety +6

    I have both. Either one is a dive watch capable of 200m. Additionally having screw down crowns. Very nice features! The bracelet on the Citizen is absolutely stunning. The links are shaped like the side profile of a wing and is very sturdy. The Seiko bracelet was a deal breaker. It just looks cheap. I replaced it with two straps. A blue Nato and an authentic Marine Nationale strap. They're both beautiful watches!

  • @manueljnegrete5048

    I'd pick the Seiko over the Citizen solely because it's shorter lug to lug and visually smaller dial would look better on my smaller than average wrist. But I definitely prefer the finishing and angular style of the Citizen's case. I'd also have to think that the exposed markings on the Seiko's external bezel would be prone to wear over time, while the markings are all protected under the mineral crystal on the Citizen.

      Can you please share your experience regarding Nighthawks' lume? I bought one two days ago and somehow I find the lume to be pretty weak. I mean it is visible all night but it takes a long time to charge and compared to my Orient Mako it is just weak...

      @julzmax956 Před 6 lety

      My nighthawk just going out of the house for a minute would cause the lume to be really bright for about 5 minutes then it would get dim. JustBlueFish, go into your bathroom with a tripod, turn the lights off and do an extended exposure, probably 1/4 -2 second exposure would be plenty. Play around with exposure times and ISO settings until you get what you want. Most Samsung phones have the ability to do this kind of photography in the advanced camera settings.
      If this is too much for you, you could also stack frames from a video into a single picture that has the same effect as a longer exposure. Either way you need the camera to be perfectly still during the shot to get a sharp looking picture.

      How to Replace a Citizen Eco-Drive Watch Battery. ... Citizen Eco-Drive watches use light (natural or artificial) as their source of power, meaning they have no actual battery. Instead, they have a solar conversion panel and an energy cell that work together to convert light to electricity, which is what the watch runs on.

    The Citizen is amazing. I love that watch. In terms of design just perfect with integrated bezel which allows the flat crystal adjusted to the edge of the the case, as a true pilot has to be. And I like the integrated bezel also because is nice to turn it with the crown making that an extra feature that I find funny and more sophisticated than a normal rotary bezel.
    I just have one bad point of this watch, is too big for my small wrist. If Citizen wold make a 40mm (radio controlled) version it would be THE WATCH in my opinion.

    Seiko case and bracelet look a bit “cheap”. Citizen looks like a better quality, more expensive watch. Citizen, with those hands, also looks easier to read the actual time. I would say for the frequent flyer, go Citizen, if you want a chronograph, go Seiko. It seems the Seiko “Flighty” has become a bit of a classic, so would probably hold a better resale value (especially if you can get hold of the rarer, sna413 or 414).
