    I’ve got TAGs, Omegas, even a Panerai Luminor but I’ve got to say it I use one of these but on a tasteful calf brown leather strap and I can’t fault it, for a quartz it offers so much more functionality. It has a great alarm, a smooth flyback function, it’s GMT when you have your second smaller watch face set which for those that don’t know is the dial at the 6 o’clock position, which also gets used when setting your alarm, which is so simple to do but many people have these watches and never take full use of its functions. Basically to set the GMT time you pull out the crown fully which should be two clicks, use the B button which is the bottom one to set your alarm time and hold it down until you get to the time indicated that you want on the small dial. To set the alarm just pull out the crown to ONE click, again use the B button to set your required alarm time, once that is done merely push the crown all the way in and it’s set and it’s more than load enough to wake you. When using the chrono you can measure lap timings when you have your chrono activated which means the big second hand is sweeping smoothly which again a smooth sweeping hand on a quartz is great 👍, you just press the B button whilst the chrono is going around and the large hand will stop, when you push it again it flys forward to the time elapsed and carries on timing until you want to remeasure if needed. To reset the entire movement which includes the minute hand on the left middle you just press the A Button and it will stop, the press the B and it resets everything back to zero. I won’t get into the bezel incriminates and types of calculations and measurements you can do as i will need half a page just to touch on it. But trust me, if there’s something you imparticularly wish to measure I’m sure u can look it up and work it out for yourself. Basically this watch is my everyday beater watch, but it has outperformed all of the above £1000s more expensive watches I listed at the start. On some I would debate that even the quartz sweeping hand is more smoother than my TAGs. This just comes down to watch snobbery but I’m past that time in my life now. Above all if I had to keep just one watch it would be this one, it even is rated down to 20atm deep which more than meets my needs on the odd swim n sometimes on holiday to go snorkelling or even SCUBA. All this for what I think in the USA is under 200$

    I have the Flightmaster and thoroughly enjoy the timepiece. Comfortable and Seiko Quality! Wish Seiko had a Solar Model. I have not found it for $299.000. Seiko offers a Solar Model in a two tone with a strap and ir is a Beautiful time piece. I have Several Seiko Chronographs and Citizen Eco Drive. Particularly Fond of the Blue Angels Models. Citizen Purchased an American Watch Bulova. I have a Bulova Solid 14KT Gold Cushion Shape with a Tuning Fork making it one of the most accurate time pieces in its time. Citizen created a “Tri-Tuning Fork Model” beating at 262 kHz with an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per year. It is in the New Bulova Lunar Pilot model which is s Replica of a Special Bulova designed for Space. Col David Scott’s NASA issued Omega Speedmaster’s Crystal fell out and he had his Bulova which he completed the Mission with. That timepiece sold at an auction in 2015 for $1,600,000.00. Seiko now has the Spring Drive which is an awesome engineering and design masterpiece! Very Accurate, Um a “Watch Addict” so thoroughly enjoy your videos! Tank You so much for your hard work..

Seiko may not be making these anymore. Every major vendor lists them as out of stock. Last December, you'd pay $200 for one. Today, even used 411s are going for more than $400.

It's a bit pricey directly from Japan ($349 + $20 shipping); however, I've always had a great experience with Japanese retailers on eBay. I haven't gotten burned even once, and I've had dozens of purchases. The items are always brand new with all foil stickers all over the place as if it came from factory. I would like to make a philosophical comment on the busyness of this watch. Time is, in a way, our subjective attempt to express truth. Eastern civilization historically views truth to be like a big rock. It's simple and straightforward. If you don't see it, you will probably bang into it. It is easy to read . . .like a diver watch. Western civilization, on the other hand, views truth as complex; it is delicate and moving, as if gazing upon a fragile mobile turning up on the ceiling. It is complicated. . . like a chronograph aviator watch. To that end, I interpret this watch to be a beautiful expression of western civilization's understanding of truth and time.

      Interesting perspective. I suppose the question is, is it ironic that this watch is made by a Japanese country but is an expression of western cultures view of truth and time?

    • @ats7485
      @ats7485 Před 6 lety +1

      Yes. It is indeed ironic! Japan has been westernized in so many ways. I'm guessing this watch is based on a European design along the lines of Breitling or some watchmakers in that neck of the woods?

    There are several reviews out on this watch. Not one tries to calculate anything with the slide rule. C'mon guys, that's the entire reason for this watch's existance. Without the slide rule it's just another quartz chronograph. I couldn't hear the alarm at all and I turned up the volume. I guess that pitch is high for me.

    I like this watch; I like the Citizen Nighthawk better, however. The Seiko looks so very similar to a normal chronograph watch, I think it loses the special quality they were seeking with the flight theme.

    LEAVE THE PUSHER BUTTONS UNLOCKED. That's only needed for when you immerse the watch in water .. to prevent pushing the buttons and facilitating water ingress through the button seals.
    When you zoom in closely on a watchface, put the watch on something solid; don't hold it in your hand. It wiggles too much for zooming in your hand.

      @chr1s60 Před 7 lety +7

      I can understand not wanting to pay a lot for a quartz watch, but this is well within reasonable range for a quartz. You aren't going to get anything mechanical that will blow your mind for $200-$300 as far as the movement itself goes. Now once you get above $700-$1,000 that is a different story and you can make a much better argument against quartz.
