- This tutorial shows my new and improved (at least I think so... for now) way of making the wire armature I put in my felted animals. I used to try and make a pose from one continuous piece of wire because I found felting the pieces together to be so hard. Well, I decided it was wasting too much wire and forced myself to learn another way. I like this new way because I can use the same shape to make different poses really easily! (Here is the final beagle I was making in the video!! pCQWVXQ1D5... )
I think this is a really good Needle Felting video for beginners.
I'm Jules, and I'm an obsessed needle felter who loves making whimsical miniature versions of people's pets. I still think sculpting with wool is magic.
Just in case you were wondering, I really like the core wool featured in this video, and I bought it on Etsy from Farm Girl Arts: www.etsy.com/shop/FarmGirlArts

I made this channel to document my needle felting journey, and show you all of the tips and tricks I'm learning along the way. I REALLY want to learn and do better, so please hit me up with comments and feedback!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

I had been struggling trying to do other wire dog skeletons when I stumbled onto your video and it was so EASY!! Thanks for sharing, I will definitely look at your other videos for more tips!!
Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you much i been struggling to make a dog but now i know how to make one
You are so very welcome!
I made the dog and it turned out cute
I love your work, and your tutorials are so helpful. On this wire armature tutorial, I've had my eye on that dachshund next to your pad. I've got to make a dachshund for someone, and wish you had a tutorial for that! I love the way yours looks. Haven't seen any others I like.
I am in the process of cleaning my office…. Then I’ll make more videos! Anything in particular about it you’re hoping to learn?
@@julesfeltlikeit I was just hoping for a step-by-step process for the doxie. But I think I can wing it. I did make the armature last evening, and I'm hoping the legs won't be too short, or the body too long. I like your technique. Thanks for all your videos! Good luck with the cleaning. :)
@Retrojean2 thank you so much!
Thank you very much to share this easy simple way to work on wire armature for needle felting animals. It is much much easier than majority video. I will give it a try now 😄😄
Wonderful!!! Thank you so much for commenting. I am so sorry I haven’t posted anything new in so long. I need to do that!!
Great video, love the easier armature and seeing you form the body, thanks so much x
You are so very welcome!!! Thank you so much for watching!
You are adorable!!! Love this so much!
Awww thank you!! I decided to try doing the whole thing with my iPhone instead of my EosR…. Definitely was much simpler!
That was great! I actually feel like this is something simple enough for me to try🤞
Yay! And thank you so much for checking it out!!
Cuuuute!!! Thanks for this!! More please!
I will do my best!! Thanks for watching!!
Fascinating video, thanks for sharing. Belle :)
Thank you for watching!!
Really like the tutorial. Great explanations. Have you made a Frenchie ?
Thank you thank you! I’ve made a Frenchie twice, but I need to do it again. They are hard!!!
Excellent. Thanks for sharing. You really have the vision of anatomy down! I think I need to move to a thinner wire for the armature. I too have grappled with using glue vs not. I was not using any at first, but now tried it a few times. Nice to see how you make all the pieces fit without glue.
The trick is to use REALLY long pieces of wool to wrap around the wire so you can extend a little past the end and all the way back again to the anchor.
Interesting technique. I make much larger sculptures, 17" Tall. So I use 12 gauge aluminum wire for the armatures. I'm always looking for shortcuts to speed the process up. So thank you, thank you, again for your insightful videos. You truly have a kindred spirit and I appreciate you being there for all of us.
I love that you are taking the time to talk to me!!! I haven’t had any time to make new videos lately and I want to! Is there anything in particular you’d like to see more of? What about the filming style - more talking? Less speeded up video? More text on the screen? What’s helpful?
@@julesfeltlikeit Yes, that's a good idea: more text on the screen. That way we can freeze frame (key-k) and take written notes. And it would be good to see more math on the screen: lengths, dimensions, time, etc. Your dogs are outstanding but I don't make those, so that wouldn't apply to me. But building armature does apply to me. And so does wrapping wire and needle felting and making curly locks.
(light bulb!@*) I know what I'd like to see you talk about. It's firmness: different degrees of firmness. Do you felt the legs firmer than the tummy? Is it good art if some areas are firmer than others? My flowers and rooster feathers are never as firm as the legs and core body ...
You're a really good teacher and you seem to have an innate gift for this type of creativity. So, thank you. Thank you for listening. And now that I have found you, I look forward to viewing more of your videos
Wow! This is an amazing set of notes and all things I will try to talk about next time. Thank you so much for your careful consideration!!
I’m having an issue with the fuzzy bits when I’m finished. Any suggestions?
Yes! Try a very fine needle to tuck in the fuzz and then an small iron like this one!!

Can I use wool yarn that is lumpy for hair?
I don’t see why not! I would tease it apart first.
Can you tell me the measurements of the wire to make a small dog like yours? My dog turned out to be bigger then I wanted.
Unfortunately I have been kind of winging it when I make the dogs. This is why you see me cutting wire or added to paws. Its very ineffective and I need to do better! I also have had dogs turn out larger than I wanted. I'm right in the middle of a new video where I'm not using any wire except for pipe cleaner legs, and I'm adding them later in my process so I can more easily get the size right. I'll see how that goes!!
Tenho dificuldade em fazer a cabeça e cara dos cachorros 🐕
I had to translate your reply - but I hear you! I also have difficulty making the head and faces. That’s the part that takes the longest!!!
Can you help me with getting rid of the fuzz?
I'm so so sorry - I don't know how I missed this comment! You can use an iron (they make very small irons specifically for crafts!) or hair spray or simply trim with scissors to get rid of fuzz!! I would love to know what you ended up doing to get rid of yours!
I like when she started but I don't like at the end because she did it so faz.
I’m so sorry! Sometimes I speed up videos because I worry they are too slow for folks. Let me know how I can do better!
I would love it if you just slow up on some of the details. The speed is just too fast for me to understand what you are doing. Thanks.
Okay! I was planning to make a new video soon. Are there any details in particular you wanted to see?
So hard for me T^T
You can do it!!!!!
i couldnt see half the things that was going on and u talked to quietly
Oh no! I’ll do better next time. Thanks for letting me know!
