Here's a really good rule of thumb for when asking a question about being trans:
Ask yourself if it would make sense and be okay if you asked the same question about being cis. If it doesn't make sense and/or wouldn't be okay to ask, then the question about being trans likely isn't okay to ask either.
And "What's the point of being cis?" doesn't make much sense, does it?

Posting this Jammi so hopefully you and other trans people see it as many trans people themselves are not aware of their origins:
When a trans person says they're trans, we now have scientific biological evidence to prove that they really are, and that it's not just in their heads. In the 300,000 or so years that humans have been on earth, trans people have only been discriminated against for less than 1% of it, and this is mainly because prior to Christian colonialism, most cultures across the globe recognized more than two genders. The concept of the gender binary is pretty new for humanity. Cut to today: there are two very important discoveries that accredited scientists have been able to prove and publish papers on that explain why trans people exist in the first place. 1. During gestation, the assignment of sex chromosomes in a fetus's reproductive system does not occur in tandem with brain development, the sexual differentiation between these structures occurs months apart with brain formation happening much later, meaning that they can occur independently of one another. Along with this, we see that on rare occasions that rather than the presence of a XX or XY pairing, karyotype aberrations can occur which lead instead to XXY or XYY pairings. When this happens, an individual is either born intersex, with both physically present male and female reproductive parts, or they are born transgender, with a misalignment between the gender formatting of the genitals and gender formatting of the brain. Bringing us to 2. Thanks to advancements in imaging technology, we can physically see the result of these differences in the brain itself. Comparisons of gray matter, white matter, neuron activity in the hypothalamus, shape of the corpus callosum, cortical thickness, androgen receptors, and hormonal responses to external stimuli, culminate in an image that shows that the brains of trans individuals are not aligned with the gender they've been assigned at birth. Which in simple terms means that a trans person born in a female body has a brain that looks the same as a cisgendered person's born in a male body, rather than looking like a female brain, and vice versa. So trans people are quite literally males and females born in the wrong body. This is why many developed countries have already removed or begun the process of removing being transgender from their official medical registries of classified mental illnesses because it is not a mental illness. They are now labeling it as "gender dysphoria", which in healthcare is not an actual diagnosis, but a way of signifying the depression and disconnection associated with being born in the wrong body.
To all of my trans brothers and sisters out there, know that you are seen and loved, and that as we healthcare professionals and scientists push politicians to recognize the facts for what they are, remember that it is an inevitability that the rest of the world will eventually see you for who you are too. Stay strong.
