this match was the beginning of the end for Federer's late career resurgence. He played well in his last tournament the 2019 ATP finals but ever since this match against Millman...for whatever reason either is back or knee, Federer was never the same. Millman choked a little there, can't blame him though. Federer was smart to change the spin on the ball to make Millman work his nervous system, then the dropshot to test Millman' bravery to shoot winner, wasn't a good dropshot though. Pretty much the same case with Nadal vs. Fritz in Wimbledon 2022 where Nadal tested Fritz while he was also losing his comfort zone and slightly injured. 3:36 a key point here - you can see that Federer put a big amount of spin on the ball and it bounced weirdly (too much to the left), which Millman was not expecting. He ended up having run too much "into" the ball because he didn't have enough time to correct himself, and therefore made an "unforced" error.

Props to federer. Millman first four points are from federere's unforced error: 1 fh and 3 bh. Federer stick to his gun of continuing to hit regular Bh instead of slicing or going around for his FH. You can see what it meant for him when he finally got a point off his BH. It paid off when millman is slow to realize he can't attack federer BH as much and when he finally did attack his FH it's the last point. La pecheada de Milman fue increíble, le tembló las piernas, igualmente lo tenía a Roger del otro lado, que supo mantenerse concentrado y lo dio vuelta

I remember that I couldn’t watch it so I had to look at my phone. I didn’t know that there was the new rule with the first to 10 Tie-Break so I just saw Millman scoring the 7-4 and cheered. Suddenly I saw that they still played and was like „oh no, that won’t happen“. It happened, I was silly and this kind of Tie-Break is unnecessary

I love that he lost, millman was holding balls against his chest to make the ball slower which is a disadvantage for federer. Glad karma takes place. Hope he had a lot of frustration after this loss.

See through all happened. This match completely destroyed RF in two ways. First, he won, and he thought he was competitive and he went too far. At the end his body got punished. Second, Millman let him have a chance to win which leaded to overused his body. Whatever reasons or whatever happened, shame on you Millman. You are an embarrassment to all of us... (I know you tried hard but brruuhhh🤬😡)
