For those who didn't know, Ice T thought rap and metal were the same lyrically if you thought about it for a bit, so he started Body Count as a favor for a friend...
Just so Ernie C could have a band to play guitar in. 🤘🤘
We already loved Ice-T from his “Colors”soundtrack song, and when this album came out we were all in! I remember a lot of controversy over this album, which just made us play it louder. 🤘💥🖤
Ice T lists Suicidal Tendencies, Black Sabbath, and Slayer as his influences for the band.
I went and saw Body Count in 2003 in Hollywood. It was one of the best shows ive ever seen. There were Skinheads in the pit and Ice T stopped and Called them out and needless to say the rest of the night was not too good for the Skins haha.
Finally some old Body count! That first album was FIRE! Every song kills. Racism isn't even the worst thing within the metal community lol. Classic romanticising...
Those of us that listened to both metal and hip hop back in the day knew this was coming ahead of time. The song Body Count from Ice T's The OG was our introduction to the band before Body Count released their first album. The OG was out about a year before this video and album came out.
Ice T Started body count so his freinds had a metal band to play in especially Ernie. Fucking awesome metal band 0ne of my to 5 metal bands as a metal metalHEAD since late 70s
We heard bodycount during the credits of universal soldier on the old VCR. Had to watch credits to know who it was and go to the record store to order the cassette. We were 12 years old whities from whitietown and all we knew was it awesome 👍
Beatmaster V!! I miss his drum style
haha.. funny you mentioned Slayer, because he did a cover of Slayer no so long ago
I remember as a kid this was played on MTV as a "buzz clip" ...Maybe mid-90s? It was mind blowing. However, metal overall does embrace people. If you show up behind the school, where the headbangers hang, as long as you wore the uniform --black rock shirt- you were part of the crew...This was in south florida which is more diverse then other places, maybe Iowa or Alabama might be different.
I totally forgot about this band, thanks for the react.
This cd is a banger
Love This Band, This Whole Album Is a Masterpiece! Ice T Is a Legend .
I must really be isolated and naïve. I had no idea this is why they wrote this song. I thought it was just an attack on mainstream attitudes (not just metal) towards people of any colour. I must admit I grew up in butt fuck no where outback Australia. To me Body Count was an awesome hardcore metal band with Ice T as the singer. I still love Ernie C as a guitarist and Mooseman (Rest in Peace) as a bassist.
Gangstacore. Love BC. Ernie C is one of my fave guitarist in the business. These fellas were cool as hell too in person. Got to chat with Ice and Ernie for a few minutes backstage in the mid 90s.
The original band. Mooseman aka Lloyd Roberts III on bass, Ernie C aka Ernie Cunnigan on lead guitar, D-Roc The Excutioner aka Dennis Miles on rhythm guitar and Beatmaster V aka Victor Ray Wilson on drums. And the hypeman Sean E. Mac and the sampler Sean E. Sean. RIP Mooseman, D-Roc and Beatmaster V
Metal does have it's gatekeepers. I never understood it. A big enough group will have good people, and bad people. I liked Body Count, though I haven't listened to them in a while. This was the first song I heard from them, and it got me into them. I did get to see them at a festival. They were the reason I went. I was kinda disappointed in them live. Maybe it was an off night.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Music is culture not color
Here we go!!! I'm in the south, so I got it bad from blacks and whites. Well mostly blacks. Being a introvert didn't help much either. Preach Vin it was ours first. We are a lot alike, I can be friends with anybody, even a skin head.
Body Count does a cover of Raining Blood by Slayer. You should check it out
Beat master V
If you really want the clicks, react to Body Counts cop killer!!!
Body Count was on their way to being a mainstream metal band then they came out with the song cop killer which kind of derailed them Since then Ice-T plays only cop roles in movies and tv. I guess somehow trying to calm the waters . There was a lot of tension in the days that the song cop killer came out shortly after the whole Rodney King and the La riots stuff.
Punk and Prog in the same Alliance?? God help us : D : D
